Hey Brad thats awsome. If you want to test the site out this weekend let me know. I have cones and a spare slalom skateboard for running some tight slalom. If the site is not available this weekend do you want to do some slalom at the No5 carpark nearby. Thats a day or night slalom hot spot. Good lighting. Hey Haggy, you up for some slalom.

South Pacific Masters Games Update
On 8/6/2005 Jim wrote in from New Zealand  (203.118.nnn.nnn)

An update for those of you that were interested in the South Pacific Masters Games over here in New Zealand in February 2006. We've officially got slalom skateboarding included as an event. Tentatively set for Sunday February 12th. Aged 30 and over. Not completely sure on what format it will take, this ultimately decided by the actual venue which we are currently scouting. Maybe head-to-head racing or simply time-trial, and hopefully a giant slalom of some form. Entry to the games is $35.00 / $45.00 + $15.00 event entry (NZD's). Depending on numbers entered may have a 'Novice' division (essentially for those 'having a go on non-slalom boards) and an 'expert' division (for those competing on proper slalom set-ups.) Visit www.spmg.org.nz for more info and to register your interest or e-mail me directly. I'll be keeping you updated via this messageboard as well. Feel free to spread the word around any other message boards you frequent.

For those of you who are interested in checking out the parks and things over here I'm also happy to organise a few bowl tours / downhill trips to make the trip over fully worthwhile.

Cheers!

Backing up what haggy said if you need any help, even though I'm in NZ, I'd be right into helping. I can put some product up for prizes but its all snow related. Sapient, Westbeach or POW gloves (and a bit of Nikita for the girls). Eddie.

Wow, this is great news. I really hope the insurance works out, that will be a great venue for a race. Brad, let me know if you need any help at all, organizing, meeting people. And as the date gets closer there will be lots of things to think about - timing system, single vs dual lanes, etc.
Looking forward to hearing more about the event. Cheers!

I have been given free approval to use a main road at Sydney Olympic Park early dec 2005, it is a very slight down hill,on ashfelt, will be tight slalom , have about 70 metres to use, next to telstra stadium in front of main pub, they will help promote it also, just have to sought insurance.

Hey Brad, the Allawah track is awsome for slalom practice. Its wide enough for two lanes with grass on one side and bark on the other so its quite safe. Has a good running surface, good slopes and excellent run off. However because its a bike circuit that turns mostly one way, its not good for one on one racing. The inside lane will be quicker. Late last year Haggy and Paul Price held an outlaw slalom race at Sydney Olympic park. In carpark 5 (I think). Also a good runnung surface with a slight slope and a good runoff left or right. This carpark is the one farthest from the stadiums and is almost always not in use. An excelent slalom race track.

I haven't actually been there. Your best bet is to e-mail Joseph or Haggy, or talk to the old skool team, as they're the main Allahwah guys from memory.

What kind of plans do you have for this?

Hey Brad,

I'd say Allawah would be the first choice, probably followed by perhaps the Olympic Stadium.

If you do get something running, count me in. I'm ready to (really, this time) get into slalom!

Hey Jestah, sorry to hear your board didn't work out. I know the feeling of breaking a home/hand made deck. Whats worse is when you do get to ride it and you really love the way it flex's when you carve out huge turns "CRACK!" saggy deck.
Dosn't look like I'll be moving over just yet. My bro will be over there until at least June next year so I got plenty time. Spring might be the go. See how things pan out.
Stay in touch man. If you ever wanna hook up with our crew here in Sydney go to www.oldskoolteam.com and post up on the forum.
