bearing lube

I have been using CRC 3-36. It is an industrial lubricant, comes in a spray can like WD-40. except it is way pricier. I turn my board on its side, squirt some in each bearing, let it sit, spin it into the bearing, flip the board and repeat other side. then wipe off the excess and they spin crazy-like. I think the special ingredient is fatty acid ester. This stuff will even make WalMarket abec1 bearings spin fast. P@io

FKD's

FKD's are one of my more favorite bearings... they are still mfg'd and sold at several of the local shops.
I have found them to be quick accelerators and to maintain their roll very well.
Their biggest plus for me is that they are very durable... I run them in my luge and on several of my longboards. I prefer the 5's for most applications, but like I've said before, the 7's are a very sweet bearing too (and yes herbn, I quit ridding them in the dirt!) HR :)

FKD are good, one of several German bearings from the 70's and early 80's that went and hid when the "ABEC" thing came around. FKD, AZF, Sims German, all seemed similar, and similarly nice, to me. Long lasting steel although some were double crimp sealed and so hard to service.

I found these old(?) bearings and they spin madly. I guess they're good...anyone know about them?

Those bearings

Sound like minimizers with american standard dimensions which is cool for the axle fit, except threads are smaller than 5/16 so hope your trucks have minimal threading. Then there's the stainless thing,a lot of people think "oh cool stainless they won't rust" then procede to neglect their bearings.Stainless bearings gall(kind of seize) quicker than regular bearings when dry, stainless steel is softer and weaker than real bearing steel, their polish fades, pits, goes bad quicker, stainless bearings are used in low stress applications where they're exposed to corrosive materials, but ,maintained regularly.Probabely similar to those titanium bearings that are making the hype these days,or is that over already:)Ninja,Swiss,Reds and my favorite cheap bearing Speedemon gold, if you don't have money to experiment stick with these, ther is no fountain of speed, most of these bearings are probabely 99% as efficient as bearings will get, when they're new or freshly broken in.There are no bearings that are tremendously faster, there probabely won't be.

Spacers

Diablo, you are in luck, due to the "too small" 8mm spacers normally used in the Gravity, and the "too big" spacers needed, 12mm, because the mini-misers are thinner, you end up with offsetting penalties, and a regular 'ole 10mm spacer will fit.

Has anyone used these bearings, i just got them and they seem pretty sick, but my problem is that the spacers are the wrong size. i have gravity super G's and since they have offset bearing wells so the 12mm spacers are too big and the normal one (don't know the size) are too small. What is the off set bearing spacer size and the normal so i can figure out how much to add to make them work with the mini misers

Maybe I should rethink having skate stuff shipped to work. Imagine my surprise when 10 co-workers were waiting for me to receive a package from Pleasure Tools Organization. I got the last laugh though, what a bunch of filthy minded perverts. Thants to Ed for the timely shipping, and for being so generous when there was a miscommunication in the order.

Got my box of bearings from Pleasure Tools delivered to work today! Thanks to Ed Lynn for the speedy delivery! Strange looks from the office manager as I picked up the plain brown box with "Pleasure Tools" written in the return address spot. Just had to laugh...
I will try them out this weekend and let everyone know what I find. Now if I only had the right size spacers for all my new wheels...
See you in La Costa! Gareth

The OGLRS recommends lubing with Mandelay. It has the ability to create sensory deprivation on your bearings like nothing else. It's currently available in G'burg at the P&R.

The fastest bearing money can buy would be ninja mini misers ceramics. These retail at about 1000 dollars australian or about six hundred dollars us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Worth it? I THINK NOT.

Ron, I'd most definitely give the Pleasure Tools a try. I've been riding a set of ABEC 7's now for a couple of months and they are holding up great. You'll love the smooth quiet speed they deliver.

If youve got the money go for the swiss bones theyre the best and most reliable by far. If you dont want to spend that much get red bones almost as good.
