I wondered about those Bombers too. Nice packaging almost got me too, but wanted to wait till someone else used them. I guess Reds would have been a better choice. I love my Biltins!!!

I just put some Bomber Bearings on my board a few weeks ago and the casings are all ready warping or something on the right side of my wheels...horrendous excessive noise from both of them. Yes, I've been powersliding, but it's not as though I've been jumping steps or anything. Never had this problem before with Oust or Rockets. I guess you truly get what you pay for.

Sure, we've all heard of Pleasure Tools. You'll see their ad on the left side of this page. They have great customer service and the prices are a really great value. Sure, the bearings aren't as fast or long lasting as something like bones swiss, rockin' rons, oust, or ninja, but the pleasure tools can't be beat for the price.

Just a thought, is it possible to smoothen the raceway out with Si3N4 ceramic? The black balls is much harder than steel if I am not mistaken. So it seem in my mind that it might work. Has anyone tried before? Did it work? I can't get a hold of any ceramics here in my 'street skating' based country. And it is just BELOW Thailand. So the shipping and taxes would kill me... Can it be done or will the raceway still stay the same?

this is a great lick that GCR posted about abec ratings http://www.minibearings.com.au/hobby/skate.html#2
i noticed that well used older bearings can be better because they are broken in and the inside have actually smoothed out. If you use a short board and are jumping and landing alot then that can put pressure on the bearings and break or bend them. in that case it fine to like to use fresh bearings. But if your a longboarder and just bomb hills and cruz around they will last for years. even if your bombing hills at 50 mph there is not really any impact pressure to you bearings. So you should not stresse about what your bearings are made of and what alloys are used in the balls. like the saying go's "it aint the shoes"

The short story is that Ron is ending his relationship with California Bearing (he was co-owner) and has formed his own company. The bearings will not have the "rocket" name anymore but will be simply Rockin' Ron's Bearings or some new name he'll announce soon. He'll have a new website at http://skatetechnology.com/ very soon and the "stage 2" bearings he just developed will be launched under that company very soon. And the new stuff he was working on will also be coming. For more info, see recent threads at bulldogskates, concrete disciples, skull and bones skateboarding, etc. Hope that helps.

"Titanium" Bearings

Titanium, and any of its common alloys I can think of off the top of my head, would be a terrible material for bearing races. It is just not as hard and strong as high-strength steels.
TiN-coated bearings would be an interesting gimmick, but of no practical value. If the underlying material is softer than the coating, the coating *WILL* crack and chip off. If the underlying material is as hard as the coating, then you don't need the coating unless you need a gimmick to sell some (useless) bearings...or like pretty colors.
Titanium has its uses, but it is also one of the more often-used buzzwords when selling things which would derive no benefit from its use (from credit cards to razors). The cards are plastic (duh) and titanium makes a lousy cutting edge.
A better way to determine if there is any steel content in the races would just be to put a magnet to them...would rule out most any steel alloy other than 300 series (which is so soft and weak you'd know pretty quickly if that's what the races were made of). No need to sit around and wait for rust...

Currently testing a set of bearings I bought which claim to have the inner and outer races made from titanium. They were relatively cheap so I'm putting em to the test. Stripped down the shields retainer and popped the balls out and set them aside, washed the races in detergent and now leaving them by the window (I live near the sea). If they rust then they lie, Haha!
I've got a feeling they're TiNit(Titanium Nitride) coated steel. The other quick way to test if your metal is really titanium is the spark test. Simple grind part of the metal and if the sparks come off pure white then chances are it's Ti. Steel sparks are orange. I didn't wanna destroy my bearings completely though. If they're steel my sister gets a free (slightly imperfect) set :) Keep you posted.

i have tryed every bearing i could buy. and the fact is that the more expensive dont mean its better. the latest i have got are Birdhouse Jacked bearing. I set my board up with different bearings and let it roll dowm my hill with out pushing it. the birdhouse jacked bearings out performed all of the others. i have bones ceramic, rockets, pleasure and a a lot more. abec rating means nothing really maybe only a little on flat gound. you could buy a cheap pair of abec 3 speed deamons and if you bomb a really steep hill you going to go way to fast anyway. and the best part is that they only cost about 10 bucks. so unless your tony hawk dont matter what bearings you use as long as you keep um clean

They're Nitros

Seth, it looks like they're the new Nitro bearings (www.nitrobearings.com), which are made for Khiro. I say made for because, for all practical purposes, no skate company actually manufactures balls, races, cages, etc., but rather tells a company that does make them (or sell them) what they (the skate company) want, and the bearing supplier provides them. That's not a knock against Khiro, that's just how it works.
That being said, I'm sure they are very good bearings, and they are priced pretty reasonably and packaged very nicely.
I have not used them myself.
As for who's used them, well--Jason Mitchell has and does. And he's done pretty well for himself. :-) Now of course Jason could probably run rusty Bones Reds lubed with Super Glue and still beat 99% of the racers 99% of the time, but that's another story. Just look at it this way. Nitros might make you a little bit faster. They certainly won't make you much slower.
