The San Francisco skatepark is kinda wierd and funky... but fun! On Tuesday nights, starting around 6pm the older skaters show up for a session. They string up lights and session into the night. The park is on Geneva, near the Cow Palace. Here are the directions: From San Francisco take Highway 101 to the Bayshore Blvd. Exit, and head south. Make a right on Geneva [west], and a little more than a mile down Geneva on the right is the Crocker-Amazon Playground. The Skatepark is in the northeast corner of Crocker-Amazon Playground.

While in San Francisco, you MUST skate the Simparch (Free Basin Bowl) at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. www.yerbabuenaarts.org It is free to skate, check out the website for hours. Oh, bring your helmet.
www.concretedisciples.com has an extensive park list. While in Santa Cruz, check out Derby Skatepark and be sure to go to the new Marina skatepark. Less than 1/2 an hour from Santa Cruz. Also check out Redwood City, Sunnyvale, the skatepark near Cow Palace in San Fran, Berkley, Novato...

I'm going to be visiting the Bay area next week and I'm trying to find info about local skate parks. Are there any maps or lists of parks on the web? I'll have a car and will be travelling around SF,Berkeley, Palo Alto and Santa Cruz. I'm looking for places that have good flow for some old school carving. Also I'm looking to find some good skate shops to check out and buy some new equipt. including longboards. Thanks.

Yeah, O'Shei was our good luck charm this weekend. The Arlington park opened, we skated the Southeast pool for the first time AND we took him to our secret crazy hill and found out they just repaved it. I commented that the previously pot-holed hill was now a world class hill for DC and he replied "That's world class anywhere" His Cali presence blessed us indeed! Anytime Bro, anytime.

I just saw your post...when I leave the library I'll give you a shout on your cell. I can take you to some roundwall spots even though I'm still healing from an auto accident and can't skate yet...but I can still drink beer!

I'm in town labor day weekend as well. I was planning on hitting the Vans park Saturday and Sunday, unless Arlington is a go. Then I would split up the days accordingly.
John, I'll call your cell #.
I live in NorCal (Monterey area), and skate Marina, and Vans Milpitas. When I was in DC in June, the Plug skateboard crew was sessioning Vans. Good bunch to skate with!

Plenty of of good crete around the area, although most are at least an 45 min to an hour drive away from D.C. The new Arlington park may be open this weekend. Check out this link. Click on the skatemap link.

I'm flying into DC on Wedsday for a wedding and would like to skate some transition with some locals. My cell # is (310) 924-1327. Give me a call and I'll buy the beer. I'm also looking to hook up with Anthony Smallwood to skate while I'm out there. Anthony, give me a call so we can hook up.

I will be in Pontiac, MI on Thursday Sep 2. Plan to skate the Novi Vans in that evening, but it is bike night. At my local Vans (Potomac) they will let you skate the pool during bike sessions. Is that true for the Novi Vans?
Thanks!

I filled out the poll again. I also included a nice little rant about keeping the park free to use, free of bikes and unsupervised! Maryland need to adopt the limitied liability law like Virginia has. Why does 98% of the Maryland town and cities that operate skateparks feel like they have to "make a profit" from the skaters?

Yo folks! Just a couple more weeks left to fill out this survey and help plan the design of this new skate park(concrete,thank-you!) to be built just east of Washington,DC in the city of Bowie. Since they are making it harder to find the survey, here's what you do...and please do this so when you come to visit DC you can slip away from the tourist crowds and go skate nearby...vote for roundwall! Here's what you do: go to website www.cityofbowie.org on the left, click on CITY PARKS scroll down to Bowie Skate Park click on online survey then fill out the survey! It's OK if you live out of state or outside Prince George's County, they want your input...let's not allow another dumbed down skate park be built...go for big and bold...it'll be dumbed down to what we can all live with, but we cannot allow it to be dumbed down to something we cannot live with! Get my drift? Thanks! Peace!!

Is that you Cape Cod Terry? The park in the pic is a mile from my house - Gaps, Milford, CT. But by October we will have a public outdoor concrete park with a snake run into an 8' deep bowl....oh yeah and some street stuff, too...I think. That will make our town Connecticut's skate-mecca.

Hey BillyBonebrake, Where can I get my hands on one of those SMA 36ers? Looks like a nice ride, I am kind of flush on 36'' to 40'' decks(i have 5 now)but I like it so I want it. Skip deserves to sell some decks anyhow. I can't find it at any of my usual online suspects so help would be appreciated.

Dude, definitely bring a park rig. I was in Breck last week with the family (unfortunately won't make the race, though!) and got to skate the parks. AWESOME. Breck is small, but it has a nice snake run into a 10' deep bowl. concrete. Silverthorne, just down the road, also has a nice park with some pool coping and tile. Downtown Denver is Awesome. Boulder was great, too. They have really done a great job on the front range with free concrete parks for us old guys!

I've been through a few boards lately and this is the board for me in the 36-38" range right now. My other fav on the longer side is the 38" Alva American Band Aid. The SMA is 36", 18.5" w/b, 10.5" wide, 7" swallow tail, 8 ply, kick nose. Real comfortable ride - gentle concave. Skip did this one right! And yes, I am possessed by the devil.
