I meant "you're" not "your." Also, look up http://www.skateboardparks.com/ohio/index.html for the run-down on a couple more parks.

There's a concrete park in Dublin, OH (just outside of Columbus) I've never been there and heard mixed reviews, though. Let me know when your hitting Dodge. I try to hit it as well (the pleasure of being a school teacher: nights and weekends free!!). Also, I'm thinking October would be a good time to hit Skatopia as their Sheriff's Dept. is doing lay-offs (they pulled me over for no reason and hassled me about my reasons for being in such a small town).

Yo Cabin boy....Dodge is less than 2 hrs from Middletown...I missed Dodge this past trip due to lack of sunlight as I stayed at Middletown for longer than planned...but I heard there is another concrete park around in Columbus too, can anyone confirm this?? Does it have bowls too?? Dodge is just off I-70 on the south-west side of town...as I remem w/o lookin at the map, 1.5 hrs to Dayton, then 30 mins to Middletown, on the way to Cincinnati, then to Louisville. I know u will enjoy, just plan to get to Louisville anytime after 2am, the other parks all close at dusk. There's a new concrete park in Indianapolis, INdiana just opened this summer, u may want to investigate. U might as well include Brewce's Utopia since u r coming via the PA TPK, i presume??

Is the change in skateboarding, that I've mentioned for the last year or so, finally taking place? Big rail skater Jamie Thomas' new ad features him doing a fs rock on a loveseat in a pool.

Start digging. Or build a wood bowl. Don't limit yourself. Contact the city in your area, and ask them if they are interested in getting a skatepark going. I mean there is no town too small to have a sick skatepark. Just look at Donald, OR. 750 people live in this tiny town. Yet, they have a left handed kidney bowl with real coping, and it's their city skatepark.
This is a great time to be skating. It's almost better than the 80's. There are parks popping up all over the USA. There are more kids skating now than ever before. We're definitely in the middle of a boom. What I'm liking the most is that many of these parks have decent bowls. I'm hoping that Bowl riding, or Pool riding will be added to the X games type competition. Remember the "how long you can stay on the tile" contest? dan

Why are all the good parks always "someplace else"? Those Upland pics had me aching. If you live near one of these killer parks then get off your ass, away from the computer and go ride!! You lucky bastard!

Louisville: Get there as late as possible at night or super early morn...or hit it after the rave...all the gremlins have been tucked in for the night & just rad rippers from all over the world who don't drop in on you & who know how to do more than a one-shot attempt at something....Chaco sk8 park here I come...after the foot heals from those violent bingo players...Chris: also go to Middletown, OH...between Columbus & Louisville....Lenny will vouch for me....you'd love the bowls there....& the ditch-style banks too.

I've only been once (and can't wait to get back!!), but I imagine during school days would be lighter. At the same time, I was there from 10:30pm-2:30am on a Saturday night and it was crowded, but not terrible.

Planning on hitting up the Louisville park for the first time sometime around Oct/Nov. What are the crowds like during the weekdays (school days)? It's easier for me to get away on the weekends but I'll work something out if the crowds are lighter during the week.

The other night at Monrovia, after we'd all been kicked out at 7, we set the cones up in the parking lot as usual. Our take-off hill runs up between the tennis courts and baseball field in the park, and I noticed that the still-lit tennis courts had been completely taken over by skaters, who were now using the benches in there. I'm betting the city is going to wonder why the kids are still tearing up the benches when "there's a perfectly good skatepark on the other side of the parking lot". I can see closing a park when it gets dark if it doesn't have lights, but they're kicking us out almost an hour earlier...

sorry to hear about the hours. The only times I can really make it are earlier or later. We went to SD this last weekend and the lame hours at PB and other parks killed me. The tennis courts, basketball courts and baseball fields are all open sun up to sun down. It's time to get the cities clued in. I would bet that Pukeiss and LRM are also to blame here. They are the ones getting paid to build the fences and are selling the "safe" for the kids concepts to the city officials.
