NJ DITCHES

There are no ditches in NJ....the closest ones there are over the border in Pa or Delaware or come down south to Maryland! There are, however, plenty of loading dock banks....sorry, I cannot help you with NJ Ditches! If you find one, let me know!!

Houston Ditches
On 4/14/2004 LBR wrote in from (161.97.nnn.nnn)

Visited Houston a year and half ago, skated EZ-7... awesome ditch!
Don't have directions, but there is a surf/skate shop there that has been in business for decades, and they throw contests at EZ-7. Call 'em up. Also, South Side Skatepark has a fun and fast 6' boomerang bowl.

Indian School goes off!!
On 4/12/2004 The Marshall wrote in from (143.183.nnn.nnn)

This weekend we were witness to a truly scary phenomenon, Indian School Ditch with a DOWNHILL wind of 30 mph. Serious as a heart attack. Mostly dry, scary as hell, fast as lightening. You can't say no and call yourself a local. You racers who came out know what this place is capable in dead calm, imaging a 30 mph booster!!

Local bombers Lowrie, PALMER and Superman Tim reaped the benefits of the scariest this ditch ever gets. PALMER even wore shoes and a helmet. Tim found out why you don't try to run out at speed (hence the Superman moniker).

Carmel was also goin' off. The raked finish gives the coolest feedback as you start maching. Man I love springtime.

Ramos passes me under footbridge at indian school, 5 secs. l8r his wheel comes off in the middle of a carve, he finished the carve on his axle only to get a sudden stop at the kink on the bottom, I (right behind him) look up to see him superman acroos the flat, busted shoulder, rash across his face, broken sunglasses, He is still scared... (verified last night)
you want the really Gnarly stories ask CW, or JW, they will both point me out...
how about Palmer jumping off at second cone in the bear in flip flops! Farid has photo's. didn't get hurt, but sure was funny watchin him squirm down the wall and after my new board.
Jeff C(truelove) gets ditch rash almost everytime he pulls out the long board.
Jason "TEX2" Doyle not at a ditch, freaked out when he got out of his lane on Rio Bravo to see a mac truck comin his way decided he could run at 30-35mph... he couldn't pull the Carl Lewis, so he pulled the Clark Kent without the cape... busted hands, knees, elbows,
that's about all I can think of off the top of my head, I KNOW there are plenty more, and plenty more to come knowin my drunkin ars!

More Albuq Ditch Carnage - Bear, Ventura and Tanoan
On 4/9/2004 GBMII wrote in from (143.183.nnn.nnn)

Carnage at the Bear - April '03, 5th cone miscalculation at the Bear, fall down the wall to the transition cost me a torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder. Last week I finally had surgery to reattach tendons and clean out bone chips. (Cost = 5 weeks off the stick+rehab)

Carnage at Ventura ditch. After bombing from the beginning of Ventura Ditch (at Holbrook) with 100 yards left to go on a 3 mile plus run (behind Lowes) PALMER catches a bolt with his rear truck crossing one of the metal expansion joints at speed, slamming him into (and up) the oncoming wall. Much skin loss and bruising occurred but the biggest loser was his Dreggs pintail that snapped in front of the rear truck. Dreggs stood behind their product and popped him a new one.

Carnage at Tanoan ditch - My daughter was climbing through the barbed wire fence to shoot some photos and slipped. Massive barbed wire slash scars now adorn her lower left leg. (she calls it her barbed wire tattoo). The photos made it into Concrete Wave Mag though.

Tally ho
On 4/8/2004 GI Joe wrote in from (65.19.nnn.nnn)

Good job K-Lee, we've been discussing this for a while, you always come thru bro! OK, Add 6 stitches to Bikers concussion and a broken collar bone, (same crash, the day before Sandia Challenge 2002.)

WHAT?!? no one entered Steve from Arizona yet! We were all there, Bear 2003, severe concussion, Fractured skull, brains left smeared on the wall. Check with Sharon I don't remember which other bones or how many stitches went with him.

I think that Ryan estimated his missing tattoo from the Bear at $300.

dues paid
On 4/7/2004 K-LEE wrote in from (64.106.nnn.nnn)

OK, I'm calling out the help of all the ABQ locals here. I'm adding a "dues paid counter" to each ditch on the online ditch directory. Can we have a total tally of injuries sustained at the local ditches like Indian School and the Bear? Names and actual injuries would help, like Biker, concussion and Science Fair, damaged spleen? Let's do it here, on the forum, so that others can verify or add more.

This actually goes for all the ditches on the directory, so if anyone out there knows of injuries sustained at any of the ditches featured on the directory, please let me know so that I can add that info to the webpage.
