Steve fed the Bear!!!!! On his second practice run, he went head first into the bank. He's currently at the hospital, doesn't know who he is, where he is, etc.....send prayers and we hope for a fast recovery!!!

That fence needs to come dwn! I say we get as many ppl as we can with bolt ctters and step ladders, and simply remove every single section of chainlink, so that all that's left are the poles. That will teach them not to lock us out of our playground. With 20 vlunteers, it could be done discretely in a few choice AM hours.

Per weather.com it is supposed to rain on Saturday until about noon. Sunday looks cool and dry.
So...we're moving the contest to Sunday.
We'll start at the same time: registration 8:00 am - 10:00 am, riders meeting 11:00 am, competition starts at noon.
We have a ton of great prizes. Deathbox sent a boat load of gear (decks, wheels, shirts, hats, stickers, etc.) Tracker, Sixteen, and Neighborhood sent a bunch of boards, trucks, shirts and other stuff. Osiris has flowed a few dozen choice items. Allain sent 8 snowboards (worth $400 each!). Central, Owens, Wolfpack, ARC and others have sent tons of stuff as well.
Yea, we're delayed a day, but it's going to be a great time! See you Sunday!
Check it out at www.deathboxseries.com

I sk8d Lansdowne sunday, and I helped mow the overgrown grass whilst grinding the snake run lips. I sk8d loading dock banks in Willimantic, CT when I lived there in the 80s and during visits in the 70s,80s,90s and this century...e-mail me for info. Also, I will b leading a ditch tour of the Baltimore/DC metro area later this summer when the ditches dry up and when u need to carry your body weight in ice water to survive. Guaranteed fun. My all-time fav ditch board would be a tie between an 80s Sims Eric Nash, 80s Powell McGill, JFA Paisley, and 90s NoKaOi Powell longboard. K-Lee: your ditch directory is a great idea, sorry I don't have a digital camera(I'm behind the times)but maybe someone on tour will have one so we can add the ones I know about. Our ditches around here aren't as big as The Bear but some of them are big-time fun. Shoot me an e-mail if you are interested in the ditch tour. I hope to sk8 w/you all sooner rather than later.

Uh, dried up dames??? :)
The ditches that people skate in are concrete water-directors that have slanted walls which are anywhere from around 30 to 50 degrees (more or less). Their primary purpose could be flood control are a reservior spillage director or anything else.

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for that. I got about 5 miles away and remembered I left it there but was too lazy to go back and retrieve it. Funny you know that hat. It was torn up and time for a new one anyway. Thanks for the heads up. Have you seen the other ditches they are making around that area? Check out the construction going on up by the warehouse to the south.

There aren't many banks or ditches in Connecticut. One option is the public skatepark in New Britain. The bowl is actually more of a glorified ditch with pipe coping. Its no masterpiece but it works for a longboard with a fast enough drop in speed...but be prepared to scrape the bottom of your board dropping in. Here's a link:
