Hey Nathan, I just got home from photo and video shoot, it was fun. It was hot so I was melting because I was wearing a black shirt. How was your filming? What place did you skate? What's the weather like down there? I can't wait 'til we're down there so I can skate with you.

The loop is loopy---Just kidding. I've been to Bob's house and skated his ramp and the loop and let me tell ya there's no way I was gonna try to go over. I just pumped up as high as I could and fell on the crash pad underneath. The full pipe there is super fun though, but pretty tight, you have to turn pretty quick.

I'm still loopy over Burnquists loop (attempt it seems) i mean as far as i can tell non of the pipe "masters" (how many are there) even attempted to go over,i mean there would have been a photog there, and we'd have seen some fairly spectacular loop attempt bails,in magazines or on video, Salba gotta be simultaneously and stoked and haunted by that cover shot.

i guess it seems kind of dumb to me to talk smack on the internet, then again i'm way over here east, and those guys(back a few posts) may actually run into each other. Well it just seems sort of silly, but to each...I don't really get this page,i checked back to the beginning and i don't see any reason for this page, why do i care who arab is? and why does he have a page?, why doesn't HUgh have a page, or TK , or Hackett,I kind of know who he is,meet him at dreamwheels in NYC around 1985 around the time he jumped off that truck,i was already making rails risers and skids.Good to see ya still around Mr Hackett.

Whats a CMC?
DH-Thanx, ABE, I thought it was Gabe, That guy RULES!!!!!!!!!!! Did you ever skate Hemet Spillway? If The Bear is Wthe Waimia, Hemet was the JAWS outer reef. I skated there with Murray Estes around 1976ish, It took me about 20 minutes to make the drop on my 36"x7" Brewer with B/Pros and RR6's. I'm thinkin there should be an Series bank Slalom this year Kona,The Bear and the one were planning at a secret desert location?
Cabbage-thanx for the FTF
Glen D-I think your right
Whats the SRA? think I missed something somewhere?
SB-That pool wasnt even worth the 15 minutes we spent there, now the one we skated 20 minutes before I could have stayed at all day.

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!!!? GOOD ON YA ARAB!! IT'S ABOUT TIME!!
NOW, LET'S GET A FEW THINGS STRAIGHT: IS THIS JOE LEHM FROM ALB. NEW MEX WHO WROTE THESE WORDS BELOW?
"On 2/26/2003 Joe wrote in from 65.19.xxx.xxx: As I understand it, this new forum is for the kinds of discussions that are not appropriate for the other boards. I'm unimpressed with too many one discipline skaters that have way too much to say about the other guys and gals that skate other terrain, races, and rules. I want to ask Arab if he would join us this year at the Sandia Challenge to compete as an All Around Skater. More events are getting on board with multiple kinds of racing etc. and this is the future. Last year Arab only did the Bear Slalom event, while many skaters did all 3 events. I was disappointed to not get to skate the combi-pool with the "Legends". Of course some of the likely competitors either got hurt (Biker, John Dread) had to leave early (Dane Van Bommel, Darryl Freeman, Kenny Molica) or didn't even come (Olson, Alva). Chaput didn't grind. Can he? This year we're adding a handsliding GS, and a Masters Class for 40 and over. All Around events are coming back. When BLR says they'll race anyone anytime anywhere, I am hoping they'll leather up and show up! Downhill is the original skate terrain. The longest grind the original test of skill. Lets do it again, Sept 13 2003, Albuquerque, NM. Step UP!!"
JOE: FOR YOUR INFO; ARAB IS NOT A BLACK LEATHER RACER. (NOT THAT HE COULDN'T BE - BUT HE IS AN SSS MAN.) I WENT OUT TO SANDIA LAST YEAR, AND FIRST HAD TO HEAR YOU SHOOT YOUR MOUTH OFF AT DINNER THE FIRST NIGHT ABOUT HOW NO ONE FROM CALI OR ANY NON LOCAL WILL EVEN MAKE THE COURSE AT THE BEAR, AND IT WAS A "DOWNHILLERS" RACE ON A BANK. I THINK JOHN O'SHEI WAS THERE WHEN I TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE DREAMING, AND TO LAY OFF THE CRACK PIPE, BECAUSE I WAS GONNA SMOKE YOU AND YOUR TIMESHIP TEAM AT THE BEAR. AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED, ISN'T JOE?
I ALSO COMPETED IN THE LONGEST GRIND EVENT, AND BELIEVE I WAS THE ONLY RIDER TO BUST A SINGLE BACK TRUCK "SLIDE" ON THAT STUPID METAL COPING FOR 6.5 FEET. (I CALL THAT A SLIDE - A GRIND IS DONE ON REAL POOL COPING)
I WOULDV'E RACED THE DOWNHILL AS WELL HAD I HAD A FULL FACE HELMET, AND A SET OF LEATHERS; BIKERS WERE TOO SMALL. JOHN O'SEI AND I ALSO SKATED TWO POOLS, 3 PARKS, THE INDIAN SCHOOL DITCH, AND 3 MILE DITCH (ABOUT 20 RUNS AT EACH - SOME NON STOP TO THE BOTTOM) WITH ALL THE HARD CORE LOCS LIKE MY MAN ABE, AND OTHERS. THE LOCALS THERE SHOWED US MAD RESPECT, AND US THEM. WE HAD THE TIME OF OUR LIFES!
I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU GET OFF ASKING BLR TO STEP UP. DON'T MAKE ME COME OUT THERE AGAIN AND SHOW YOU HOW. NEXT TIME I'M BRINGING OLSON, JOHN OSHEI, AND THE IRISH MAFIA, IT WON'T BE PRETTY. YOU HEARD WHAT HAPPENED TO MOLLICA FOR SHOOTIN' HIS MOUTH OFF (SORRY KENNY) BETTER START DOIN' PUSH UPS NOW. YOUR MINE.

most of us have been through several cycles. i like what i am reading. have you ever been at a park when the people pull up in their monster SUV's and just dump little greggy off? or sit in their Escalade wailing on the horn? i see these parents, many in their thirty's looking at me like i am some kinda kook (like i care). i look at these guys, they can't climb a set of stairs. sometimes the mom's of kids will ask me stuff about pads or equipment at least they seem to intersted to a degree with what their kids are doing. but most of the dudes are wastes man. i don't know what happened. i mean, many of us and our love of skating comes from the 70's. i think it is kind of interesting in a socialogical way.

My last post was a defining Trendy.....Kook would be derived from the surfing culture which is applied to one who is inexperienced, lack of ablility or style and disrespect for those who are more experienced.
When its no longer cool, or getting them attention from their friends, fullfilling some other motive other than the pure enjoyment of it..etc.......they will move on.
the Trendy Kooks........please go...good bye...

Any serious rider or Team that intends to keep skating for decades is fully padded. The over 40 crowd that is still skating are the guinea pigs of yesterday. We'll know soon enough if we'll be able to keep it up into the next decade. Speedboarding is the proving ground for what Team TimeShip rides everywhere else. Pro-Design pads and wrist braces. Knee pads for under 30mph and slider gloves over wrist braces for over 30mph. Once you get used to a Spine protector, full leathers and DOT helmets, wearing just pads and a protec is a no brainer.
My kids put 'em on every time we skate, and I love taking full on bails in front of the youngsters at the park, sliding as dramatically as possible, jumping up and trying it again. YES, lets get the skateboard racers assoc. going. There is plenty of support, Teams can play a key role.

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to less trendy kooks in the parks and elsewhere. Skating a backyard pool is joke these days. Arab and I jumped a fence last year to find four guys already skating camped out with beers etc. What ever happened to the 15min rule? The ASR is a sweet idea and Hackett will likely include shirts and smaller entry fees. It's not going to save skateboarding but it will offer something for those who can skate transition and TURN a skateboard.

well it looks like it time to buckle down sk8 industry heads. The winds are pick'n up, and the eye of the storm lie ahead..This hurricane can't last as long as the last one...
I think with visions like Hackett and myself, with trying to develop a disipline that has been there for years is gonna help the sport on a new level. It is by no means going to save sk8boarding, but with the rapid growth of sk8 parks in America, park slalom/ deathracing/bodercross, what ever you call it, as long as you package it up nice a preaty, it's gonna get big. How else can you make people wanna watch people roll around a park flowing lines. You put cones in all the harest spots to get to. You make people have to rool in a corner, carve a cone on the light in the deep end and pop out in route to the next cone that is sitting at the top of a vert wall. Make the course flow, and the fun times will follow. The chris senn's, and the Brian Patch's will be out in full force, and everyone will follow... I wanna see the SRA do good, and I wanna help. thats just my opinion. I know I'm ramble'n, kill'n the time. 1 hour to the weekend. You guys are alright, I don't care what they say about you..
sk8 everything,

I remember the sidewalk surfer boom, the 70s boom, the 80s boomlet, and the mass marketing boom of late. The sure sign it's on the wane, is that when the mass media starts talking about it, it's done with. Jumped the shark. Fork stabbing time. This isn't going to apply to slalom and downhill much, as these disciplines are so far away from mass acceptance. I knew when I saw 3 skateboarding related articles in the Washington Post one morning last summer, that it was due to shart shrinking. But like every boom, there always remains a core of participants who will stay.
