Jason, the kids' forum you support is analogous to the kids' table at the family gathering. What kind of a feeling of belonging does it create?

Monitoring children is not a good reason for making a kids' forum. First: it doesn't work. The kids are smart enough to go to some other forum when they want to talk about things they don't want their parents to know about. If you want to monitor your kids you need to log all network traffic before any encryption is done. Simple enough if you know more than a thing or two about computers.
Second: prevention works better. Instead of obsessively checking out every single thing your kid has done try to educate him to avoid the mistakes instead. If you don't trust that they can manage themselves in the Internet better not let them here alone at all.
What comes to a forum where "kids can talk whatever they like". Well, this is NCDSA and the subject is longboarding. There already are hundreds of forums where kids can talk whatever they like. If the kids want to talk about longboarding then I'd gladly invite them to the forums. If you want to know what kids today do: communicate with your kid.

John-NCDSA is not Tumyeto, I think the majority of kids that would join in here are kids of the parents who come here, Those parents would beable to monitor what the kids are talking about.
GlenS-I dont think an actual "Kids Slalom Forum" would be fit, I'm thinking more of just a "Kids Forum", that way the kids could just talk about whatever they wanted to.
Fluitt-The first VERT Ramp Nathan dropped in on was 9 1/2 feet, I told him it was 8 because he had dropped in on 7 so whats another foot? After he did it, I told him it was actually 9 1/2, That was a bad move because then when I told him that the next ramp was 10 and he could do it, he figured I was lieing again and it was 12? I would never let him ride things if I didnt think he was capable of it. When we showed up at JPL, I discouraged him from riding/racing, I didnt think he had the skill and ability to do the hill, he was fine with that, and decided to just play with his remote control car and Harass Olson and whoever else he could play with, When Dylan showed up and went for it, Nathan was all over it, I told him he had to start from the bottom and work up.
Jason-Thanx for tuning in, Hope to see the kids next saturday, I vote for a Kids Forum too!
Afterall, Kids Are People Too!!
I'd like to hear from others about a "Kids Forum" Kids,Parents,Anybody, Please feel free to chime on in and let us know what you think?
Should NCDSA have a "Kids Forum"

I don't come here ofton, but when I do, I always enjoy Arab's daily perspective on the passing parade.
I would like to thank you for having the "Kids Day" here on NCDSA, I have 3 kids myself all of whom skate, I'm also an uncle to 7 other kids that skate.
I hope you do this again next saturday, I will ask the kids if they would like to participate.
I would also like to cast my vote for a "Kids Forum" on NCDSA, I think it would be a good idea, and it would give kids the sense of belonging to the skateboard community.
Bravo Arab!

Arab, I saw your post a couple of weeks back to Sasha about dropping in on a 14ft ramp (I think it was). I thought that was pretty funny that you bribed your boy with a $100 to drop in on a pipe.
A couple of weeks later I was at the local ESPN skatepark with my kids. $10 for the session, pads, and board. My kids had never ridden new school equipment (cause I don't have any) and they had no interest in skateboarding from what they’ve seen of me all bruised and battered after races (remember that slam I took next to you at LC02?).
Anyway, it was an epiphany when they took to little flippy sticks and hard wheels and they were totally into it. They were digging it. So it’s their first time skating, in this park, totally out of place, grown skaters flying all over the place. After a while my boy climbs up on this big ramp 10’ straight ramp. He’s wanting to roll in, but he’s just way scared. He can’t work up the nerve so I remembered your post to sasha and I slap a $5 bill on the concrete at the bottom of the ramp (yeah I know, I’m cheap but he wasn't droppin in on a pipe). He still can’t get the nerve up to roll in. Then his little 6 year old sister sees what’s going on and she starts headin’ for the ramp. She had to get lowered onto the ramp from the top cause she’s to little to get up there herself. I didn’t think she was getting up there to roll in, but she slaps her board down and gets ready to charge down this ramp. Then her brother figures he’s going to loose the $5 so competition gets the best of him and he goes for it. Rolls in fine and skates off with his arms raised victorious. Then Mariah, my girl, sits down all pouty lip and starts to cry. She tells me SHE wanted to go first. So I put another 5 on the ground and she doesn’t even hesitate. Rolls in, hits the transition and SLAM! She gets up, crying, grabs the five and goes back to top of the ramp. Rolls in again, SLAM. This time she slides about 20ft on her knees and elbows. Third time, she rolls in way fast and somehow makes it. All because of a little $5 bill.
Brib-er-y (noun) The offering of money of other incentives to persuade somebody to do something

so probably is a special kids section of this website, but arab, if adam creates such a beast how will you dissuade it from becoming something like www.tumyeto.com bulletin board? that's for kids and it is a little scary if pretty entertaining once in a while.

Sascha-Thanx for being the first to drop in today! I enjoy correcting clueless morons who post anonomously without an email, Yeah its a shame that these people have nothing better to do then spoil KIDS DAY on NCDSA, I guess they cant read the EXTRA LARGE PRINT DUH!!!!!!!!!! be sure to drop us a line if and when you come down this way, Say Hi to your Mom and tell her you love her very much for supporting you in what you like to do best, SKATEBOARD!
Dylan-I hope there is going to be an FCR series?, I'm sure they are working diligently on it, I plan on going to Paso Robles, Nathan is gonna be in Las Vegas though doing a Demo. No thanx to me, But thanx to you for dropping in and saying Hi! And thanx for pushing Nathan and giving him the confidance to skate JPL last month, You are an inspiration to him. Maybe we can get Adam at NCDSA to start a KIDS FORUM? I think it would be cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sarah(IckChick)-Bring yer football next race, be nice to your mean teachers, Just think how hard it must be to put up with 25 screaming kids all day!!!! They get Tired and Cranky just like yer Mom and Dad, Hopefully we will see ya when HJ is here in a couple weeks. Remember I'm on your team! Skate Chicks Rule(whether you skate or not!)

Arab-Don't you get tired of these people cutting you down all the time? You have way more patience than I do that's for sure. Maybe they don't know you like we do.
Plus, it seems like they don't understand kids day. I think this is a good idea to encourage those younger people who do not usually write to do so and get to know the other skaters around their ages. I hope you will do this on at least a monthly basis. As time goes on, and more kids know about it, more will be encouraged to join in. I tried to be vocal today to encourage more people to post, don't know if it worked or not......
Finally learned to stomp a boneless 360 today. I've been adding more and more old school tricks to my repertoire. It always catches people off guard at the contests. They don't know what to think of little kids trying to be Rodney Mullen. Who by the way is my inspiration. So is Tony T. Only for the skating though. He's one tough cookie. He is one with the board like no one I've ever seen skate.Rodney is the man when it comes to the cool of the old school. I study his video parts like homework. If only someday I could be that technical.........

Reviews that are really ads Testimonials are one of the most effective means of promoting a product. Unfortunately, some companies cannot seem to wait for the "good word" to come in on their incomparable products. So what do they do? They write their own "review" and post it on ncdsa.com. Wrong move. These bogus reviews are almost always obvious as shills, and only cast their company in a dubious light. If you're a Vendor, i.e. selling or preparing to sell more than one of something, use the Vendor's Corner forum instead (described below

I wanna know how Skate Kids are doing in school?
I'm doing very well, actually. Usually seniors are hit hard with work but I'm taking 2 arts so my average has been its highest ever!
Do you always wear your Pads?
No.
Whats your favorite thing to Skate? (Street,Slalom,Vert)
Slalom! But I havn't tried street of vert. Vert interest me much more though. The thought of ripping it up on a Deathbox is appealing. But right now I am focusing on slalom. I eat and breahte it basically.
Whos your favorite Skaters?
Hmmm... Evans and Ransom, and the Carrasco Bros. I liked Steve and Charlie's riding style long before I was ICKboy so it has nothing to do with the boys. And the Carrascos are wicked fast and are gentlemen to boot! And Joe Iacovelli too... I never knew you could generate speed by flapping your arms like a drunken albatross :-D
If there was A Kids Forum on NCDSA would you use it?
Um... Am I a kid? Who knows.
You dont have to answer any of these questions, Just drop in and say Hi!
Hi!
So, I'll be in LA March 13th-17th. Stayin with the Howells, slaloming, and going to Disneyland with Lauren gordon and her friends. Should be a fun weekend! R.I.P. Mr. Rodgers

Hey today is awesome because I learned a new trick and I dont even know what it is called. I've been skating most every weekend unless the weather is bad. I've been skating a ditch called galexy ditch and Rage Skatepark, too.
We have a race on April 12th,anybody who wants to come can like Dylan and Russell. Sorry I didn't address some others but if you can you can.
I'm spending a weekend with my grandparents while my mom and dad is in New Orleans, Loisianna for Mardi Gras. I said "Dang it" when they told me if you know what I mean.
I heard that Nathan got a new Pocket Pistol and think Chicken is getting me one just like it.
We will for sure be at the Gathering, Breckenridge, and Morro Bay.

Yes sir!! That's the kind of slap down that I can't get from my crew here in Alb!! I was hoping to get Gonged by Arab, but Hacketts will do nicely. You did indeed rip the Elks lodge and everything else with the boys, And the Bear. It's still the Worlds Largest Banked Slalom and we can say it's scary if we want to. Mostly we missed you and OShei on the hill. You helped us make our event famous and I'm only ribbing you guys in hopes that this year we'll bring out even more All Schoolers to make it truly epic. Yes Mr. Hackett, please DO come back out here with your Team to show us how it's done. You won the Bear, but another Dave won the All Around.
Race you soon, Joe
