I'd just like to chime in here and tell everyone what an amazing person Maria Carrasco is. I recall meeting her back in May of 1999. The thing that struck me immediately was how incredibly supportive she was of her husband, Richy.
Over the past several years, Maria has been instrumental in documenting a huge amount of skateboarding. I am so very pleased to see that Maria is getting the attention she so righly deserves.
I wish we got Fuel Tv here in Canada...
By the way, if anyone would like to sponsor the 4th season of Fuel TV, let me know...for less than 4 pages of ads in transworld, you can be the main sponsor...seriously!

Just wanted to chime in here about Fuel since I've been producing segments for another show on this network called Surge TV. Unfortunately I don't get DirectTV so haven't been able to check out any of the other programming but looks like there is a host of unique shows in their line-up. Anyone have any feedback on Surge?
The last batch of episodes for Surge was just finished and should be put into the rotation soon. Some of the segments I produced for them this season include: Deathrace 2003 (Hackett's park slalom event at Skatelab), SlalomX 03 (Jack Smith's slalom cross event at Paso Robles), WLAC Scene 03 (showcase of the lively downhill racing scene at West LA College), Jammin Freestyle (showcase of flatland trick skateboarding worldwide collected over past 5 years), Soul Bowl (WCSK8's Grand Masters Soul Bowl event from Philip's Fusion in HB), Huck Jam 03 (Tony Hawk's Huck Jam from The Pond in OC) and 360 King (Profile of Richy Carrasco Guinness WR Holder). The show is airing on Fuel everyday at 11:33 a.m.(per published schedule at Fuel.TV) and should be repeating indefinitely. I have seen some episodes of Concrete Wave TV from 2002 and did produce a segment Catalina Classic (FCR Slalom Race at the site of the historic 70's race) for them in 02. Not sure if they are re-running the previous seasons.
I'd be interested to hear feedback from anyone who has seen this show or these segments. There is more info posted on SK8KINGS.COM. I’m working on dvd/video version of this and more for public release.
Cheers and Happy New Year to all.
PS -- Michael – The Mag is looking Great!

My advice is to visit concretewavedvd.com and tell Lynn you are anxious to see what's cooking....
there is an ad for the upcoming dvd in the new issue - due out in about 10 days...
I won't tell you what's in it...all I can say is that the vision of this DVD is to be an extension of the magazine and model things after 411..but more than just rails and ledges.

That commercial on Fuel is the greatest one ever produced! When I first saw it, I could not believe what I was seeing! By the way, Eddy, it's Lance Mountain and I'm pretty sure Dave Ruel in there also. How cool is that - most of our founding fathers all in one cool ad! Hackett, where were you?
I just think the fact that it got made is an exciting omen for the return of round-wall skateboarding to more main-stream recognition. It's good to see those guys get their due respect like that. About time, too.
Next one needs to be just Dave doing a huge slo-mo slash like his classic photo.

I discovered Fuel TV today pretty cool. I got to see Concrete Wave the show, and they have a killer commercial where a little kid it trying to ride a pool when all of a sudden Tony Alva,Steve Alba,Duane Peters and Steve Olson show up and shred the pool. I couldnt make out the other skaters. Hope to see some slalom on there in the future. Eddy Texas Outlaw

I only caught the half of Concrete Wave on Dec.31. I wanna know how I can find out who the vendor they featured is and where (or if) I can get a copy of the episode. At the least, can someone give me a name of that owner? It's the episode that talks about Skate Legend by Michael Brooks. Thanks a ton.

Just wanted to say that I truly grateful for everyone's support of the magazine. I know I keep repeating this, but we are really just getting ramped up.There is a ton of new stuff coming down for 2004...and trust me, it is heavy. Very cool and completely remarkable. We are very excited about the prospects for next year.
By "we' I mean Mike Moore and myself. As the associate editor, Mike has provided me with tremendous support and is a great person to bounce ideas off of.
So here's to Mike-thanks for everything. I just wished we lived a little closer.
And finally, thank you to our advertisers, subscribers and readers...we could not do it with you.
Best wishes for 2004.

Hey Yoel...you've actually got a growing scene in NYC....I know there's an annual race thru Central park (springtime?) and then there's the Broadway Bomb in October...it looks like a blast. In fact, we're heading over to it from Detroit next year. Check the contest calendar for this past one and it will have a contact name for sign ups...if you write him, i'm sure he can put you in touch with the other skaters, or put you on their mailing list...and then of course, there's Da Farm in Vista, upstate....havent been there yet, but looking forward to '04....looks to be a weekendlong party....but there's real skaters out there for sure....somewhere among the masses......

Howdy all.
I'm about to go off to sell firewater to the natives, it's our busiest day of the year...whoopee...I'll be there for the next 13 hours.
Just wanted to take a moment and say Happy New Year. Thanks for the laughs and comradeship. Hope you've all had a great year and that 2004 is even better. I'm still pissed we don't have flying cars by now, but that's a different story.
Please be safe tonight if you're going out. It's amateur night...so I'll be heading home after work.
Keep 'em rollin' boys!!!

Just a few more weeks 'til the permission pool is begun. Reserve your space now.

Hey Michael,
I love the mag! The evolution from ILB to the latest issue of concrete wave is phenomonal. Without your mag I would be completely lost with it I feel I have some contact wtih other skaters. I am looking for people in the NYC area to help me get started with both pool and slalom skating I had previously been getting into downhill a lot but have since moved from NJ to NYC and there are no hills here. The only skaters I can find ride new school boards. The few who ride longboards aren't real skaters per say rather they just ride their boards for transportation. Are there any longboarders/pool skaters/slalom skaters in NYC at all? Its no fun skating all by myself. I just need someone to show me the ropes and get me started. Is there a way I can find people?

last issue was in the Flagstaff B&N, but not now. However at a smaller book and music store "Hastings" the Concrete Wave is right next to the Surfers Journal, Longboarder and Thrasher/TWS and the Snowboard Mags. Of course I took the time to display it a little better. There are two good concrete parks in Flagstaff and the riders appear to be older all the time. I guess skating isn't very popular right now, so it is mostly the 20 somethings at the park. most of them I have seen around since they were in their teens. I am like the "gramps" of the park and assure them it is just another phase.....lol, Never quit!

When the last issue was coming out I went to the local Barnes & Noble to get extra copies. After checking the rack with no luck, I went and asked at the info counter if they were getting any in soon. They checked the computer and found no listing for CW except for Mike's book. Puzzled, because I have bought CW there before, I left. Today I stop by just incase they did actually show up, and...there they are. I grab them up and head for the check-out. I asked the nice lady why they don't show on the computer, she, of course, has no clue. I inform her that this is the best skate mag available today and that they should not let this mag slip past them due to some computer database problem. She said she would look into it. Jusy FYI...
