What an awesome idea.
Maybe an I'ntl Ditchfest not unlike the Texas Turkey Bowl Jams? Wall-to-Wall style.

Concrete Wave Magazine would love to be involved with this.
We will donate ad space in the magazine, give the event coverage and throw in $500 prize for best trick.
You name the date and place, and we'll get working on promotion!
As for magazines around the world to local skate shops....try this program on for size
$125 for 5 issues x 5 per year along with a complete shop listing...name, address, city, state/province and phone number. It's a great way to advertise and pretty low risk for the shops. Anyone who is interested should contact buddyc@cts.com

Don't forget South America. They've got some major bowl riders in Brazil. Don't know what their parks are like though.

Been cruisig the web for old school skate stuff for a while and there are three main websites I hit - this one, skateboard.com.au and middle-age-shred.com. From what I can see this old school / "mature" skateboarder thing is going off all over the world. Kinda got the same feel as longboard surfing did ten or so years ago and that's huge now.
Anyway my point is that the three websites I listed kinda represent USA, UK and Oz respectively and they are all talking about bowl jams. Well, the obvious question to me is - when are we gonna get it togethor for the annual World Masters Bowl Jam ?
Here's the idea. It runs every year on a different continent maybe something like: 2004 - US. California (where it all began) 2005 - Europe. UK somewhere. 2006 - Australia. Take your pick of Syd/Canb/Melb
Next would be another country in the "Americas" (Canada maybe), then Europe somewhere (France) the down south again (Sth Africa or New Zealand).
My first idea is that we pick a weekend, the locals pick a park or two they think are up to it, we all show up and have a meeting of "the brotherhood of international bowl riders". What do you think ?
OK I know the is the CW forum so here's where the mag comes in. CW is the conduit for this thing and "sponsor", not in the financial sense but in the sense that it connects old school skaters around the world. Also maybe a purpose built website that does nothing more than acts as staging point for interested skaters and organizers.
Basiccly I reckon if we could get at least one or two skaters from each locality to attend it would be a success and grow from there. And that's the great thing about skateboarding - there could be four of us or four hundred of us at this thing and it would still be unreal. Just show up, skate, have a beer and extend the circle a little.
What do ya reckon ?

Actually I was talking about Internat. Longboarders, which I got when I first ordered a set of R2's and purple turbo's. I'd been bombing for about a year on 180 indies and "don't go over 30mph" 70mm krypto's. I was so stoked. Super dooper stoked. I'd never seen anything like these wheels and trucks, plus I got a rad longboard magazine. What a day. I started going realy really fast after that!
But yes Michael, the mail is working, i got my second CW the very day you got the pics I sent you. Thanks a million, it's quite exciting to get something like that in your post box! When I get rid of the flu I will investigate how we can get more in SA.
The problem is that after import duties, magazines can be stupidly expensive. The mainline newsagents could afford to bring a few in, but I don't think they're interested due to lack of demand. The surf shops are interested, but can't/won't take the risk. On the other hand it's pretty cheap for people to subscribe individually, but they don't know about the mag. Maybe if we can get the shops involved in longboarding to subscribe, just for display copies, then we could get more people to individually subscribe. Any idea's???
What do the Brazilians do? Do they get CW?

Concrete Wave and this site are dedicated to rediscovering the 'soul' of skateboarding. What does the term the 'Soul of Skateboarding' mean to everyone here??? Where is it's soul? What is it's soul? Is it really lacking in today's skate scene or has it just morphed?
Would make a cool topic for an article Michael! Gat a few opinions from the pro's and bro's around the world...

Michael,
I'm in Quebec City. When will you be at Le Massif? Haven't been there yet this season because it's been getting crowdy for the past couple of years. Some friends of mine went last week after a storm left 70cm of pow. From what they told me it was amazing!

Hey Rob,
Shoot me an e-mail. I'm Miguel. If you are who I think you are, last time we saw each other was in Whistler, early 90s. In the late 80s, we used to snowboard a couple of times a year together when you and Carl came to our local ski area. You and him even slept at my parents house on your way to a backcountry trip.
