IF and when
On 7/8/2003 CKnuck wrote in from (66.185.nnn.nnn)

If I Had A Million Dollars
If I had a $1000000
(If I had a $1000000)
I'd buy my wife a house (on a hill)
(I would buy my wife a house)
If I had a $1000000
(If I had a $1000000)
I'd buy her furniture for her house
(Maybe a nice Big Screen and Stereo)
And if I had a $1000000
(If I had a $1000000)
I'd build a nice sk8park
(A Slalom and a snake run)
If I had $1000000 I'd, race a lot more.

If I had a $1000000
I'd help build CW in our lives
If I had $1000000
You could help, it wouldn't be that hard
If I had $1000000
Maybe we could put on some contest like FCR in there somewhere
You know, we could just go up there and hang out
And sk8 and sk8 and sk8
There would be already laid out toys and equipment
Like, longboards, slalom boards, pool-boards and things

If I had $1000000
(If I had $1000000)
I'd buy me a quiver
(O wow a real quiver, that's cruel)
And if I had $1000000
(If I had a $1000000)
I'd buy you a timer too
(Like a Tway or a My-chron or two)
And if I had $1000000
(If I had a $1000000)
I'd pay off the remaining debts.
(All them crazy $$$$$$$$$$ bones)
And If I had $1000000 I wouldn’t change a thing.
If I had a $1000000
We wouldn't have to drive to Morro Bay
If I had a $1000000
We'd take a plane instead.
If I had a $1000000
We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner
But we would eat Kraft Dinner
Of course we would, we’d just eat more
And support everyone we can
That’s right, all those who support us.
Mmmmmm
If I had $1000000
(If I had $1000000)
I'd build the GRS
(CASA –USSSF – ISSA and all the rest, that's right)
And if I had $1000000
(If I had $1000000)
I'd buy us a parcel
(Of Land and a waterfront)
If I had $1000000
(If I had $1000000)
I'd build us some ramps
(And of course we’d want some cones?)
If I had $1000000
I’d build some sk8parks
If I had $1000000, If I had $1000000
If I had $1000000, If I had $1000000
I'd likely still be broke.

sincere apologies
On 7/8/2003 psYch0Lloyd wrote in from (198.160.nnn.nnn)

Michael: Please accept my sincere apologies for that overzealous response to your simple request for forum ideas. I found myself inspired by the prospect of actually enabling people with the financial power you portrayed. As I reread my post I realize that I had combined two unrelated items and then unleashed a bit of mayhem in your direction...
...my bad. I'll bet you didn't understand the prediction "Things are going to get mighty crazy over the next few months" was a signal for me to explode (did ya?).

My actual intent was to post some kind of a confirmation from within. Something akin to dedicating myself to this purpose. I have a feeling that it is really possible to harness the buying power of the skating public during this market transition but this concept would take some development and time.

I don't know exactly what happened with me this weekend. The adrenalin rush of creativity seemed to take another avenue as I have been limited by injury from being physically capable of working on some of my other designs. After working on several other more cerebral undertakings I hit the web during the wee house of the morn... and your forum became the unlikely staging area for yet another hair brained idea. So far only two of my concepts failed this weekend but somehow I was able to convert those into something else entirely different and it is now in the lab chugging along just fine.

Rest assured that I have a distinct that something good will come from all this and in the unlikelihood that it doesn't fly, if something is gleaned from the mistake, it shouldn't be a total waste of time.

Only the best,
Alan Sidlo

personally i don't know which was the bigger sin, chucking a 16 year old chicky chicky bird or losing the cash!! : )

easy mill
On 7/7/2003 Brady wrote in from (66.21.nnn.nnn)

If I was only concerned about myself, that mill would make my life a lot easier.

But if I had to spend it skate related, and also fuerther the sport, I`d have to say buy realestate and then take the profits and invest them into something skate related.

Example...
House was bought for 6 mil recently. You`ll see this house in the new Bad Boys 2 movie.

Well, the owner of this new house (it was built but never occupied) leased it to the studio that made the movie, knowing it would be blown up. The studio even paid for it to be demolished afterwards. Then the owner broke the property into 3 parcels and sold them for 10 mil each.

That`s a 24 mil profit besides what the studio paid for thier usage.

So lets say you put a down payment with your 1 mil and now have 24 mil to play with? How`s about buying some swamp land for pennies and having oodles of fill brought in to make a hill. Pave a killer 8 lane hill down it and put up pavillions and such, maybe a bowl section as well, and then turn the property over to the state with a trust to pay for maintenance and strict quidelines on what they can or cannot do (or else the property reverts back to you).

Yup, I kinda agree with psYch0Lloyd and the plan dealio...

if I had a million dollars
On 7/7/2003 Tom M. wrote in from (164.227.nnn.nnn)

Hmmmm... I don't have a plan, but here are a few ideas:

1) I could place it in a relatively safe investment environment (split to equal 5% minimum return), and live on it for the rest of my life. This would provide LOTS of time for skating (and, believe me, I need it! <g>).

2) I could donate half of it to the local skatepark (this would more than double the size of the park -- and make bjs and crew a few more bucks <g>), and invest the remainder (see #1). With the time saved by not making the 4 hour round trip to my current 'home park', I would have a lot more time to skate. The investment of the remainder opens many avenues (i.e., less hours, more elaborate and frequent vacations, etc.).

3) Donate the mil to psYch0Lloyd so that he can place it into a real plan and subsequently solve world hunger, and provide skateboards for all, etc. <g>.

4) None of the above.

If you had an opportunity to make a million dollars...
On 7/7/2003 psYch0Lloyd wrote in from (24.148.nnn.nnn)

...would you even know it was there? Would you laugh at the thought or just freak in disbelief at even the slightest possibility? Can you embrace the change?

Mr. Nervous: Please cue the scary music... (Yes, that’s the one, the intro to the infomercial).

Well as it was so aptly stated before: "...things are changing..." With the advent of the Internet, we could be in Kansas but you wouldn’t even know it. If you were passionate enough, one can almost guarantee that it wouldn’t take 20 years just to look back...

If you are waiting for a windfall or are ready to jump at the prospect of not having to earn all your easy money well you can continue playing that game. At the end of the day you can sit around talking about all the ways you can quit your job and spend it doing something else.

The end.

Or would you consider this just a brand new beginning? While some may toy with the possibility, others would take it upon themselves to make it their challenge. It isn’t about the money, you see. To me this is just about the process of making a little bit of "change".

Though I don’t have that much; I really wouldn’t consider a million dollars a lot of money. A million dollars couldn’t keep me in my lifestyle for any length of time without some kind of a return on one investment or another. At the same time I really don’t think that you need that amount to incubate a business in the skateboard industry today. Depending on the program $10,000 could be good start. In actually, everything starts at the zero phase (but I won’t get into that right now). So go ahead and change the subject or maybe even a little consensual back slapping is in order. Write this off as just another rant from some nut but whatever you do. Just believe me when I say:

"I’m working on the plan."

If I had your money...
On 7/6/2003 psYch0Lloyd wrote in from (24.148.nnn.nnn)

...I wouldn’t exactly quit my job (at least not right away anyway), but it would definitely be a pretty good start.

That being said, it’s totally possible to take an amount like a million dollars and do something only skateboarding related with it and still be able to turn it into a pretty nice chunk of change. As you may have heard before, it’s always that first million that’s the hardest to make.

Although we’re probably all guilty of bearing these simplistic thoughts, judging by the deluge of responses, it’s a pretty good bet that many people might find the idea of even considering this remote possibility as just a futile exercise and a complete waste of their time. After wrestling with my own thoughts on this matter I would have to reluctantly admit that now I’d have to respectfully disagree. Because, if one were to encounter this situation but didn’t have a plan, they might as well just give all that money away.

Okay, so what’s the secret to making money in skateboarding today? Well first you have to have a plan. After that it’s probably a good idea to have a product, which you probably wouldn’t have in the first place unless you started with...
...a plan!

What’s the matter? Don’t have a plan? Oh! Wait a minute. You don’t even have a million dollars? You’re just wasting your time, you know. Might as well go for a skate!!! Hey it doesn’t cost that much and if you didn’t fill your mind up with what you could do if you had more money than you know what to do with you would probably have the greatest time of your life! What me? Oh, sorry, got no time for fun right now...

...you see I’m busy working on the plan.

Howdy,
I thought about it for a couple of secs, my first thought
was to build my own decks...but then it hit me;
build a skatepark....but not just ANY old skatepark.
Build a skatepark that would duplicate all the "classic"
terrain of the past(both Gov't made and from other
skateparks)
The Wallos, The Glory Hole, the Dog Bowl, you get the
picture...
Build it and they will come.
How cool would THAT be?

the ego vaccine
On 7/3/2003 psYch0Lloyd wrote in from (24.148.nnn.nnn)

Been mulling over this for quite some time now and just recently recovered from thoughts of how cool it would be to find some kinda synthetic drug that would only act on one’s ego; counteracting it at the very moment that it decides to go off!!! I swear I’d put myself on the program possibly several times a year (even though there might have been times when these occasional outbursts may have been totally warranted).

But soon after getting over myself it occurred to me how much better it would be to find a more natural substance that would infect everybody with something very contagious. Something that goes by the scientific name of JohnDillonitis (the uncontrolled inflamation of the humorous glands)! Or if it were possible, maybe just to set him loose on the public with his very own brand of buckets o’ fun accompanied with a handy-dandy recyclable applicator (of course)…

…wouldn’t it make life seem just a little bit better?

Maybe this is getting old but...
On 7/3/2003 psYch0Lloyd wrote in from (198.160.nnn.nnn)

LOL! Yeah, I got a kick out of the ANNUS HORRIBILIS, that bad ass paper presented by MARINOV as he disproves the LORENTZ EQUATION. In it he states that:

“In the photograph there is one such falsifying experiment which (as well as the other) can be carried out by children: A cylindrical magnet is cut along one of its axial planes and the one half is turned up-down (the magnetic forces themselves do the rotation). Around this magnet, there is a trough filled with mercury in which the copper ring which can be seen at right swims (the children take salt solution and suspend the ring on threads).”

Children playing with mercury has gotta be a sure cure for growing old…

…as an aside I am hoping to be able to employ ultrasonics for the nebulization of my nutes in conjuction with the pulse phased array to provide an enhancement of the growth stimuli.

I really shouldn’t have any problem, if only because I don’t know any better.
