Ugh. Now you really didn't have to go there...
The /inside kryptonics/ or /how to make a Pocket Pistol/ are ideas with legs. I can almost see the photos etc. Seriously, it's a great counterpoint to the shots of wigglers or even "micro edgers over the death box". heh. The /neon years/ spread would probably be better just like that... it's the same as my "100 Best...". A double page spread with "100 Best New Wave graphics". the "Best" being totally subjective, of course.

great speaking with you too Dave. by the way, I welcome any comment or suggestion about the mag...you can phone or email...
I wish I could get the mags out a little quicker to subscribers...it's tough...the US postal system is better than Canada Post...but that's not saying much!
The next few issues will feature:
Cliff Coleman Skatopia The Bulldog Team underground skaters secret spots more product reviews HOSOI FREE... Cherry Hill/NJ expose

A column like "unwrapped" on the food network, except instead of "how they make good & plenties" its "how they make Pocket Pistols skateboards" or "inside Kryptonics"
The life and times of Henry Hester
Skatecars of the late 70's
Skateboarding in television show of the 70s-80s-90s
Bad idea skate product of the month (ie the Wheelie board)
feature article on the "Day Glo Era" 84-85
2page centerspread poster with nothing useful on the reverse, so it could be removed from the magazine and taped on the wall of one's cubicle, without rendering the magazine un-continuous.

...just wanted to say thanks to you Michael-for getting back to me yesterday. It was a pleasure rappin' with you and I hope you weren't bummed by any of my comments or feedback that I gave you. CW is still in it's infancy-so keep up the great work and it will surely become "T H E Skater's Mag" that we all look sooooo forward to receiving in the mail just like we did with Skateboarder back in the day. Take care of your subscribers-and they will most definetly take care of CW. Thanks again. Talk to you soon.

On Karma... Once I emailed a very soulful (now defunct) magazine for directions to the local skatepark. In addition to directions, I received skate swag and made a new friend.
On Dogma... Never had a dog, never will.
On Waiting... I'm waiting for a single skatepark that has half-pipes (or bowls) in sizes of 3', 5', 7', and 9' with coping that does not stick out too far, a bank run with a lip, and a freestyle area (remember those?). And it's gotta be within 20 miles of my house. I'm also waiting on money to free up so I can add to my skate collection. The main thing I'm waiting on is the next time I can go skate!

Well. It's like this.
Comparisons/bakeoffs of modern kit against classic. It's kind of been alluded to in other forums here. Then again, how about point/counterpoint PVD v McCree? Failing that, Lots of shiny truck pr0n.
Skate family tree: In the '70s, you couldn't open a music paper without finding a double page spread of some rock family tree (I recall the Deep Purple one was provided as a 24 volume set). I'd like to know who connects to whom, when and why.
or
Six degrees of ARAB (or whatever that Kevin Bacon thing is). Each week, you'd connect someone (could be historical -say- or the recently deposed dictator of a middle-eastern country) to California's finest.
100 greatest [insert subject matter here]. Lots of cutouts make your InDesign layouts a something something.
The skateshoe. Cross-sections through 12 skateshoes with cod-scientific analyses and comparisons of bogus hexalite-viridian-kevlar compounds etc.
Good month/bad month
Heroes/Villains
etc.

So after all the noise, I'm in my local Barnes and Noble, and there's 1 remaining copy of #5 on the rack. I dive for it, narrowly snatching it from the grasp of a middle aged woman, about to give it to her 6 year old...Flip her off, and beat feet to the cashier, spewing skate related epithets at the customers. Jeff from Boziboards gave me #6 at the outlaw race the very next day. I now have a complete set, and if my subscription works, I'll see #2.1 any day now. Many thanks to the nice people who offered assistance in resolving my plight. OH... One more thing... I get home from the DC outlaw slalom race on Saturday, (4th in longboard, 6th in A slalom, stoked) and I find that my wife Tivo'd Concrete Wave TV on Fuel Network for me. I didn't even know about it before. AWESOME... Thanks for your work on the mag and this forum, Mr. Brooke, sir. You rock.

Great 'Ol Bigwig: The B & N by my house is supposed to have them in today. We'll see. Last time I was there I bought all 3 copies that were on the shelf but felt like I might be depriving someone of seeing it. I will probably buy all of them this go around too.

It was only issue #5 but...The Hastings store in Killeen, TX. carries Concrete Wave. My first time to see it on the newsstand. I was completely stoked. There was some guy looking at another mag nearby... I did the ol' "Hey look...I work on this magazine...there's my name and everything!!!"
Yes...I'm a complete spaz.

That is pretty strange.
I'm several hours from Maine (I'm in Rhode Island) and it hasn't showed up here either.
I wouldn't mind the wait if it was one of the other skateboard magazines; it's usually the same stuff over and over.

...for a public slalom park. Picture 4 runs, of varying pitch, all laid out in a cross pattern so they intersect at the bottom. One run is it's facing run's runout (say that 3 times fast). Yet another use for yet another currently unused landfill area. That's my dream...what will it take to make it happen?
