Don't know if my HTML is any good but St George has been resurfaced and looks a killer spot for a boardercross If this pic don't show then go to Shiner.co.uk and look in the stuff section, bit of a small pic the park is well worth visiting now, hide yer valuables though..

Jonny I agree, the lions are hungry at the end of the day, but sweaty skaters might not be their thing.
I talked to Leif last night (the organiser) and we will meet up at Longleat and look at thhe sight. There is no conspiracy here. I see this as a UKSSA event (of an international grade) on the back of the downhill, like Bude. The thing is there might be TV so we want a good turn out. As the organisers do not know us yet they have no idea of the size of us, but want a full field with internationals.
Wait a few weeks till I get down there.
No one will disadvantaged.

i think we just need some simple clarity. is it a ukssa event (under the banner of the main show) or not?
at the end of the day its in the ukssa's interest to be just that, at 20quid entry for non-members it stands to make some cash for the coffers if it does get a full field.
i like mike's idea of free qualifying. so how about ukssa members get automatic entry, then the remaining places are filled through the free qualifying with entry fee then payable to the ukssa for the main event if you get through? that way everyone's happy.
of course if the whole thing is a lash we just throw whoever's at fault to the lions!

I cant see this invitational idea working. As I said before I feel that we dont have enough people to justify it. And I'd like to see everyone get a chance to enter. That would probably mean an entry fee wouldnt it? I dont think you can have both.
If its invitational then where are the invites?
I did hear from a downhiller that its the unlimited downhill entries that is causing the invite log jam. But I cant see how being exclusionary can help encourage true competition.
How about this idea....? Free Qualifying. If you qualify you get to enter the race. Simple, but then you'd probably need to pay sumfink. But if you know your in the true comp then youd be happier to pay? This would actually encourage the best racers to come 'er uninvited' and any hot shot ams a good cahnce of a race or two.
From my own part I have probs giving prizes at a 'for profit' event. I have no probs flowing for the normal events, but this one I'm going to have to think about.
I dont think it is anyones intetion to cram the event with their buddies, but I can understand why people might feel that way.
I'll start the ball rolling. I'll give a Roe deck to the fastest racer who has NOT entered a slalom comp in the last year. ....If the organisers allow the event to be at least 'reasonably' open.

you hopes of trying an organised event may be dashed by the dastatdly organisers.....who fill up the available "invitation" slots in the slalom with their buddies......leaving you and probably me and many others without an invitation.
we are not bitching, and yes we do have loads of fun...but quite a few of us felt that holding an "invitation only" event as this stage in the game was a bit pointless....there are barely enough slalomers in the UK to fill a 32 man bracket anyway....so why limit the field by making it invitational

Pardon me Sirs, but this all seems a bit bitchy to me. Why do things have to get so complicated? There's a few of us out there who've yet to try slalom/downhill at a "proper" event, but I personally find all this a bit off putting. I mean it's only bloody skateboarding, not formula one!
The whole ethos behind and the reason most of us started, and continue, skating was to get away from all that organised milarkey wasn't it?
We've been "having a go" over the last few months with the old slalom boards and even had the good fortune to find an empty warehouse with a massive expanse of clean, smooth floor where we held a few "impromptu" race sessions. Most of us don't no what the hell we're doing with regards set-ups and equipment etc, but we all came away smiling, as well as battered and bruised, and all our times have improved (that's if you can rely on a McDonalds freebie digital watch!)

For those thinking of going to Paris for the 2004 World Cup Slalom:

Eurostar take bookings 90 days prior to one's scheduled return date. This means that in order to be booked on to the train soonest for times between 29-31st May, it's best to book through www.eurostar.com on the 2nd of March. 8:00am is opening time and when the cheaper tickets might be available. A 'leisure' ticket around this date should start around the £59.00 mark.
It is a Bank Holiday weekend, so tickets do go pretty quick. Damn romantics.

I did not want to be involved in the politics and now have been draw into this, due to this I have decided to make the following statement.
I have always tried to support the sport in the UK, being the first person to bring a luge board to the UK back in the late 80’s also helping to promote the sport in all ways possible.

In the 80’s myself and Martin Sweeny started an association called the “The British Association of Slalom and Downhill Skateboarders” or the BASDS
I seem to remember the Last brands to be held, before the new events that have happened over the last year or so, were run by the BASDS, Slalom was the major part of the association at this time.
About three years ago I was approached by Jonny with regards to setting up a new association call “The British Association of Downhill and Slalom Skateboarder” not so far from the old association, but with the lack of Slalom skates, it was mainly downhill.
BADASS was always supposed to be an independent body to help skaters communicate and to advertise events.
BADASS is now not that independent body that it used to be.
At this time I feel that I have to resign from BADASS.
As I currently run and pay for the hosting and support of the BADASS website I will be removing the name BADASS from the web site over the next few days.
Under the Data Protection Act of 1998, I am the data holder and can not pass this information on to any third party, (this means that I will not be giving anyone the mailing list) the data currently resides on my server in my property, I am registered with the registrar for various reason that I will not go into on hear.
I have spoke to a lawyer with regards to who legally owns the data, and I am told that as I have paid for the total cost, the site and the domain are legally mine.
The site will now be called “Bad Ass Kate” and will not be any part of BADASS.
“Bad Ass Kate” may stay up or it may just merge with UKSSA, we will have to see.
What a shame that it all has to end here.
Jonny will always be regarded as a mate of mine; I have always had a good time skating with him.

I give you my full support Chris, do not trash it yet! - it is typical of skaters to trash things before they have got off the ground.
I thought that downhill hill and slalom folk had got over this and moved on.
I would say that the invitation means that there is no entry fee - but I am sure there are still prizes and goodies for the riders.
The UK has never seen an event with this amount on monies put into it.
Empire Sports have very kindly paid for a banner on the BADASS web site for the event and there will also be mail outs to BADASS members
Let Empire make a statement before you all rush out making comments.

Are we just short of sunlight and waiting for the summer? I can not understand the moaning.
How many events had over 60 entrants last year. Does anyone realy expect that with the 15 members of the UKSSA that it will suddenly excalate into a massive sport. I think NOT. However if the invites exist the it will be to members.
OK you want "newbies" to skate. Well this is an event that supports this. Look at Brands, how many of you did not race last year because it was tough. This will be similar by the reports I have. Sure come and give it a go, have fun and skate, but know your limits.
Don't panic about the invitation, I think it is more in tune with the other, more popular, aspects of hill riding.
If more than 32 appear at any event, if H2H, we would naturally select the top 32 qualifiers to race, or even less.
I am not fully on top of this event yet but will phone Leith tonight, but don't trash it yet, remember we are riding on the back of the downhill guys. I get complaints about spending £20 on membership, would you raise £25,000 to race at Longleat, or Brands etc?
