foam grip

I have ridden boards with foam grip barefoot and with shoes. It did good with barefoot, it was a lot easier on my feet that regular grip. When I rode with shoes I thought my feet would slip off the board everytime I made a nice tight carve. This was the Sector 9 stuff, so I don't know how the deckskins work.

I have deckskin on a few decks (it's the same basically as the S9 stuff) and it works really nicely. It has a great grip when dry and doesn't really lose any grip when it gets wet and muddy which is real good, even when it's dirty you just wash it clean.real nice feel but on a deck that you do new school tricks on it probably would give you the control of griptape and would wear badly after hitting the ground all the time (like from failed kickflips). But on a downhill or cruiser it CAN'T be beat

Just bought the Envy Classic 57 with Envy wheels and Independent trucks. I just love it. Pretty good flex. Im a bit disapointed in the Envy wheels though, feels a bit hard. Anyone know the durometer on the Envy black wheels ? They have a hub in chromed plastic and some flower pattern on the sides. Otherwise I really would recommend this board.

I have seen the foam grip. Looks cool. I personally don't ride barefoot (gave it up in the 70's). How sticky is it when it gets wet? How grippy is it if you are riding with shoes? I wonder if Ed Nadiln would have liked it when he was pulling off a "gorilla grip"... All I can say is at least someone is trying new stuff! Later late.

I just had to take a look at the mystery companies site. Generally, we wish the best of luck to new skateboard companies, but was disappionted to see that they had to put down other companies to put themselves up......"we don't do flex, we don't do 9balls" No kidding. Well, that's it. Everyone have a great summer!!! I'll be barefoot Sector-ing the beaches this summer on a Foam Grip Cosmic.......Any thoughts on the foam grip?...

Okay, so I'm a little biased as I'm part of a new longboarding company, but is that what people want?! A mysterious secret company that makes non-flexible boards? Maybe I'm taking those guys too seriously. I wonder if they're behind the Kennedy assasination . . . .

They're trying way too hard to be cool. It's a skateboard not secret agent rocket science. With that type of ad campain, it sounds like a big non-skate corporation is about to get into skateboarding.

What do you all think? It would be nice to see the decks. I don't know what they are trying to prove, looks like a advertizment ploy to me... What do you all think? Ok, they say they sell longboards, but who really knows...

Now that I have ridden my Tallac 62' more, I like it more. It turns really well, carves better than any other board I have ridden (save for Flex Dex) and you can still do stuff on it. I took it to the Skate Park and this guy with dreads was going in and out of the bowls on it with no trouble and it is so long that you can ride over dirt and grass on it too. If you ever think about getting another board this is the one to get. And the guys at Tahoe are great too. Peace Gabe

I just got a new setup from an outfit called motherlode. This thing is the sweetest ride i've ever had!! It's vertically laminated hardwood with fiberglass and 11x48 with RII's and big soft wheels. It carves like a dream and unlike my other longboards it doesn't feel like it's gonna break ( i'm 205 pounds). Anyway, you should check em out. They're not online yet but you can call them at 435-713-0468. They treated me right!

I just got my Tallac 62' and I love it. It turns a lot sharper then you think it would, (better than my 47") and does extremely well at high speeds. For anyone who wants a good cruising board, I suggest you get this one. The people at Tahoe Longboards are great too. Peace Gabe

I just bought a board with the same thought in mind as you. I needed a board to help my surf craving. I went down to my local surf shop and saw a board that looked a lot like a surf board. I asked the guy if I could try it out and he said yes. I went out in his huge parking lot and picked up some speed and started to carve and got addicted to this board. I started to ride the nose on it and I had to buy it. I bombed this hill on it and it was the first time I bombed a hill and did not get trashed. The name of the board is Phlow. I bought the complete for $155. The complete included the deck(11" wide, 54" long) Randal II trucks, Abec 7 bearings, and 70 mm Kryptonic wheels. This board is the best I've ever rode and the thing that was weird was I never heard of this brand in my life. If you want to buy this board I can hook you up with one. All you have to do is pay the price of the board($155) plus shipping and handling( I'm not sure how much but I'll check) Email me at spanky2784@yahoo.com for a picture and more details.

I am a 30 year old surfer type who has taken a job a bit inland (1 hour from surf), and I need something to get me through the week. I've seen some cool looking longboard skateboards, but I don't know what to get. I want something to carve on hills with and perhaps to take into a mellow park. I am around 195 pounds. What would work?
Thanks,
MO

Carve Boards

From what Ive heard the carve boards are alot like the MBS unibodies and MBS unibodies are super fun on street, I can carve much tighter with my MBS than my Cosmic2 with the trucks all the way loose, and because it uses rubber tires instead of polyurethane wheels you can get your weight way off the board with out it sliding out, at the same time you can lean into a powerslide without much more force than regular polyurethane wheels. I feel like I ride in a lot more control on my MBS than my cosmic2. Later

Hey all. I saw a "carve" board. They look really fun. It has mountain board wheels, but they look like they are only for the street. The deck is a surfboard shape (compared to a snowboard shape, like the MBS). It looks like it is for the street only. The picture in the add (this month's surfer) makes it look like you can really crank on it. It looks like you can carve harder, because the wheels look really sticky. Anyone try one?

Has anyone heard anything about these? I am a hardcore MBS supporter but am always interested in the new dirtboard companies. These look pretty lame but I haven't ever seen one in real life. Check it out for your self: www.xcitesports.com Theyre selling them for $260 with shipping to get the company started. Just so ya know...Later

Cadillac Da Kine,
I've seen both, and the wood on the Freeride seems to be of a better grade than the Gravity. If you're 215# I'd go with the 48" Freeride.
