The Cosmic II Rules! It is the most almighty board around for carving. I dont think it would be very durable but it is really flexy and is fun to go down hills and you can surf the streets. I recommend it. I am stupid though because it is my first longboard ever. I am skilled though. I do not recommend this board at all for bombing so dont count on bombing it with this board. -Chris :-)

I've ridden the 29, too short, its like a flexy shortboard. Good for freestyle though. But I'm a longboarder, I try to stay over 40. But your right its a pretty cool board. Peace Gabe

I've ridden some Sector 9 longs, and two flexdex 41's, and I have to say that the KS 29 is smoother and better all round then any other board I've ridden. Being so short it's got a great turning circle, and is ideal for carving tight turns. Fast, it gets a bit less stable, but if you don't just do speed and downhill, then its ideal.

I've had my Slater for a couple of months now. It was my first longboard, and I didn't realize just how good it was until I played with some other stuff. Smooth, fast ride, very easy to control. It's probably best as a carving hill board; it's not particularly good for transport with no kicktail. I don't bomb hills much so I can't speak to how it handles at high speed........

Hey Gabe,
I love my Pro 41 (similar to the KS model) for carving tight turns and just cruising around the neighborhood (I really like the flex when carving a turn). I'm not much of a hill-bomber, though. I would see if you can just get the deck, and then mount RIIs on it; I replaced the stock Gullwings on mine with the Randals, and the improvement in stability and the turning radius has been dramatic. Thanks, Duane.

Thanks for the candid advice Chris. I ended up going with a 49 inch fluid board anyhow. The hills round here aren't good enough for a 60 inch bitch, though I'll be moving up near the hill country (like the sound of that, eh) in about 2 months. Till then 49'll be all the board I'll need. I'll let y'all know what I think of the fluid when it gets here.

I JUST GOT THIS BOARD A FEW DAYS AGO, AND IT IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE BOARD EVER. ITS FLEXY, ITS LOOSE, IT CARVES LIKE NOTHING ELSE AND YOU CAN PUSH SOME VERY HIGH SPEEDS ON IT, I GOT GOIN AROUND 50MPH OR SO ON IT AND I WAS FINE. I KNOW HOW SECTOR NINE IS THE MOST POPULAR, AND SOME PEOPLE HATE EM CAUSE OF THAT, BUT WHO ELSE GIVES YOU SUCH A VARIETY OF BOARDS, FROM GIGANTIC CRUISIN' BOARDS(NOSEWALKER) TO TINY CARVING MACHINES(COSMIC 1) AND SHORTBOARDS. SECTOR NINE HAS A BOARD FOR EVERYONE OUT THERE, AND THEY MAKE THEM GOOD, RIDE WITH PRIDE

Hey everybody. I just posted pretty much the same message in the home made section, but I think it belongs here. Anyway, My friend and I have started a new longboard company called, Karma. Each bboard is hand painted with graffitti designs and cartoons. The completes have the new Randal trucks and Krypto wheels. Check out my website at www.anglefire.com/pq/karmaboards and drop me an e-mail. The website is brand new and we hope to have picture up soon but for now, there ais some good info about the boards and the company. Peace,

I also know from experience that the 60 incher from big yank is a peice of crap so for what it's worth you could get a way better board. I recomend getting a template from MJB and makin' it yourself

I have been seeing the posts on the tahoe boards for some time now. I am in Tahoe for the 4th and went to the Vans Warp tour at Boreal with my son Casey . The Tahoe boyz where there with thier line of boards, let me tell you they live up to every commment that has been written about them. My son and I have been longboarding together for 3 years now. We are always looking for new boards and we just found them. I just bought a new Talmont 52 for myself and Casey got the Fusion 44. Although we have only ridden them for a day I have never seen him so excited about a new board. I will let you know how they hold up but thumbs up so far. The guys at Tahoe were very helpful also. (old guys still ride)

I can now say from personal experience that the Randall II's are smokin' hot for turn ability...And they were designed for longboards. But I am very intrigued about the newer exKates ...you might try to ride a set of those before you decide. Good Luck and enjoy whatever you choose. -Doug

I'm looking at a 60 inch Big Yank board and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the thing. Also, what could I do to ensure that the mother would corner well even though its 5 feet long?

I have a 37" Sector 9. I don't know the model but I don't think they make it anymore. Although its shaped like one, its not really a "longboard", but more like a long shortboard. Its the best ollie board I have ever had and is my all-purpose urban assault vehicle. Its good for ramps, too.
I had tried a number of different truck/wheel combinations and found (much to my surprise) that it ollied best with 68mm wheels on it. I thought my lighter Ratbones would make it easier to get off the ground, but they didn't have enough height to allow me to really whack the tail. I like big wheels better anyway.
Gravity has a 35" deck that looks like it would make a really good ollie board. Its not really a longboard either, though. I'm sure a 44" board could be ollied, too, it just might take a little time to learn how.

Is the Cosmic the one that seems like it's made of plastic? If so, then the board will die a quick death. Get something that's not S9 or Gravity or Envy! Get something that's not made by a shortboard company, either! steve

Hello,
I was wondering about the Cosmic II... My brother really likes the board and is thinking about buying it, but he intends to ollie it and maintains that this is very well possible. Now I agree with him that any board with some tail is ollieable (is this a word?), but I don't think the Cosmic II would last very long that way.
Any thoughts on this? Maybe he should get the Super Cruiser instead?
thanks,

It's been along time since i have ridden, i used to ride in the 70's with boards like logan earth ski, hobie and gorden & smith, and the wheels were brands like road rider, oj's and sims, I used to live in cal. and reside in az. right now, however I am moving back the beach in florida and thought i'd take up long boarding again, the difference in boards is astronomical from the years i used to ride. the "old board feel" was great but I have to admit the rides of today have come a long way. i just bought a 52" classic shaped board from a company called sherrman's shrimp and skate company out of san diego. the board handles like a dream and the flexability of the new boards really absorb the vibrations. i also am using gravity 80 mm wheels, i have to say using larger wheels is the way to go if you can fit them on the board with out getting wheel bite, it really makes the board roll over bumps smooth also try using a soft rubber riser not only to let you get your larger wheels on but it also will add to that cadillac ride. short boards don't try inserting large risers because it will throw your center of gravity off but with a long wheel base, it is easy to handle the hight and you may need it so you don't high center so much.

I like riding foamgrip, because it works when it is muddy and wet. It is wet&muddy in Finland. Also it absorbs a little vibration. Also my Vans doesen`t loose the grip when it is dry. So it to be recommended by me!

Candis, if you want a board with a snowboard feel, check out Envy's "Twintip XP" (or one of the clones, I think Envy was the first), or the thing that Freebord makes (www.freebord.com). I like the Twintip, but, since I'm no snowboarder, I can't judge on how it relates to snowboarding. I never tried the Freebord, only saw it once in real life, but people seem pretty stoked about it.

************************CANDIS****************************** I just wrote in about my FUSION 44. Trust me. Im poor so I wanted to check out every board I could before I was really going to buy myself a new one. I cant really say anything bad about the Flex Dex, but I cant say anything good either. I live in tahoe so as far as snowboarding goes, this by far is the closest thing to powdery love. The only thing that comes close to my Fusion is the Tahoe Long Boards Talmont 52. The only reason why I didnt get the 52 is because I want to start doing more trick riding. Before you buy at least check out their website www.tahoelongboards.com These boards kick ass at just cruzin or jibbing around! GOOD LUCK GIRLY- Chrissy

I've had my 44 for a week and I love it! It's great for downhill because it carves so well and because of its' "kicktail" I have to put up a fight to get it back from my guy friends. They can ollie it already. The parks' been good to me, I cant air it yet, but I can carve the bowls in Reno. Im stoaked on it! Love, Chrissy
