The kalani flexdex is rad. Not as flexy as some of the otheer models. The clear grip on deck gets dirty quick but not realy a problem. Highly recommennd it!

Wrong Wheels/Flexdex update

Cool!!! Ian at flexdex made it really easy for me to keep the lime green aliens... which after one trip around the block are lime black. Now I can do compare/contrast review with the power paws. All in all I was very pleased with my interaction with flexdex. I've got the paws on the way plus a shirt and some stickers for decoration.
Get excited cuz pretty soon I'll be able to do a full on head to head comparison of a pretty average longboard setup for cruising and carvin with the carve board. Already it is plain to see that they both have their advantages.
Deck update I checked with Ian and he said he didn't care if I told my buddies about the blowout long deck for $25. Ya'll are my buddies... correct? (you+all = ya'll). The web site has a fine pic of the outline of the board, but can't show graphics because of business reasons. The graphic is pretty cool. You'll either get an alien face (which is pretty cheesy according to Ian) or a wave with some flowers around it kinda hawaiian. I won't tell you the exact brand name cuz something has to be a surpise, but I'll tell you that from what I understand... if I was a kid in the late 60's I would have been ultra cool. They also forgot to mention the just right cave that the board has which I was thrilled over. All in all... I'm very pleased. Not as much flex as I'd like, but that's is as much my fault at 150lbs. My heavy buddies can flex it.
I'll keep you posted.

Talked to Ian at flexdex. They were cool to deal with. Thumbs up! They are gonna make it right by sending me the paws a t-shirt and some stickers today and have me ship the aliens back (fees to be reimbursed) I think I might call them back and offer to buy the aliens for a little discount. They are $25.60 regular I paid $24.00 on cinco de mayo and I'm gonna offer like $15.00. That should save both parties a little hassle. I searched on the aliens And found info that the offset hub makes them stick a little better. I'll offer to due a comparitive review of the two. Got any thoughts???

UH OH!!! Not only did ups (horrible service) screw up and deliver it to the wrong house first and three days late... Flexdex gave me the wrong stinking wheels. They gave me their "lime green aliens" instead of the white (70mm 74a) power paws that I ordered. BIG screwup. I don't want lime green aliens. They are supposed to be kryptonics eurothane, and I've heard some bad stuff about kryptonics, but only love for power paw. I pieced together a complete during their cinco de mayo sale. 45" long deck with kick nose, tail and a bit o' cave. 70mm power paws randall 2's (this is what I was most curios about more hype for these than power paws) harry abec 5 bearings (at this point I hadn't read the bearing faq on the links section not sure what I would have done had I already read this oh well they were only 11$ I don't know what the F%$#) they are talking about with this built in spacer shiite) clear tape
Stay tuned to see how this saga will unfold... (this is really gonna turn into a review of www.flexdex.com) I'll be pressing for keeping the aliens and getting the power paws... d'ya think this is fair... let me know either be posting or emailing. for now I gotta ride some old 60mm 90a vision blurrs

Sonny

Okay, I guess we all love the concave pintail. Here's my setup: - Sector9 Double Barrel (The concave pintail. I was lucky enough to find one with the old graphics on the bottom.) - Kryptonics Route 70's, blue (I think that's 82a, right?) - Independent 215 (Or whatever number they give 'em, it's the biggest) - 1/8" hard risers (They're blue Retardo's by Foundation Super Co, to be exact.)
Though I like the R-II's, I prefer the Indy's for this setup because they're so much lower. That's what I like about this board, l_o_w. I don't need to make sharp turns with this board, I got other ones for that. Well, this is my 2c. I guess this setup would come pretty close to my dream setup, or to one of 'em anyway.

Hey, I am looking into getting something small for cruising with a little bit of carve. I was thinking about the Rob Khali (I can't spell) 33" Flexdeck; does anyone have it, if so tell how it rides, thanx. Yo Hizzout, I ride the same set up!

A few days I posted the specs of my new complete setup...here they are again. - S9 Concave Pintail - Randall II trucks - 70mm 78a Nineball Wheels - Greaseball bearings
My impressions: The feel of this ride is what I've been searching for since I've longskated. It glides as smooth and soft as a cloud. The concave deck feels solid under my feet, and the raised rails allow for some huge crankin' turns and carves.
The trucks are pure bliss. Now I know what all the hype is about....if you're skeptical about these trucks, belive the hype! They are the best I've experienced.
The wheels are good too. For my review on those, check out the Wheels message board.
Overall Review: Awesome setup...I have found the ride I've been searching for!

You are sure to be the happiest man on your block!!! I have just received my S9 pintail too... I will be adding trucks to it today(comp II's) and my red power paws. So hopefully in a few days we can compare notes and stories! You will be amazed at how well the randal's perform...Those 9 ball wheels are really nice riders too. My bro has a set that I had to buy him... so I only have limited knowledge... have fun and skate sane... HR

Howdy all.
I haven't been around much with work and all, but with the summer finally upon me, I'm finally getting the weather and sunlight I love to ride more.
I've finally scraped up enough cash to get a new complete setup from SolidSkate.com (hope it gets here soon!)
Here's what I got lined up.
S9 Concave Pintail (I stepped on one about a month ago and have dreamed of carving like that ever since I stepped foot on a longboard)
R2 trucks (Ooooooohhhhh joy!! Finally I can experience what you all have for a long time. I'm looking forward to the trucks more than anything else!)
70mm 78a Nineball Wheels. (Solid Skate was out of all PowerPaw wheels :( But I've ridden on Nineballs before. I was pretty pleased)
Hoping I can test out this ride this week. I'm stoked.

I like this board, although I do have a few whiney complaints. The kick-tail is pretty much a joke, especially with as mutch flex as this deck has.Speaking of flex,in my opinion it's a little on the soft side considering I weigh around 160.Heavier riders would find this too mutch so maybe the Super-cruiser would be better. This was my first experience with Seismics and they rock!! For a board of this type the extra-light springs might be a good idea. I used no risers and have only experienced wheel-bite on one of the rears and that was with the truck pre-loads at full-soft.All-in-all a fun board to ride around on barefoot. Karma wheels also get a big thumbs up.

Yup. I took a Mini Slater 21 to Cabo last week. Fit in the backpack. All those concrete hallways were perfect for an apres-margarita run. I think the 21 is the best, as the 17 is cute, but me feets too big. Totally worthy ride.

The speed record is an "official" record, which requires certain things to make it "official." There have been unofficial recorded speeds faster than that, fastest i've heard is somewhere in the 70-80 mph range.

In the last International long boarder Terminal velocity claims Hardwick is the "2000 guinness book of world records holder at 62.55 mph." I think that with longboarding becoming more popular these speeds are going to get much higher. I can go that fast easily on a snowboard and am getting to speeds of 45 on the street and I think of myself as a novice. Did you see the board that he did it on, it only looks like a 38".

Just so you guys know...
Majority of decks were Dregs 41" racing boards...probably 2/3rds of the guys rode these. Others, Mallard, Kludy...had similar boards with a bit less concave, same 41-42" length. A few guys rode stock TVS boards (Hardwick had a TVS with a metal undercariage.) ANd few had 47-48" decks.
Trucks- mainly randals and randal comps. A few guys rode randal IIs and few Indy 215's (Mallard). Mallard also had his set up through the board to lower CG. Manu Antuna had his Randall comps set up the same way but changed to a standard set-up.
Wheels - Cherry bombs were on 80% of the guys decks. A few guys were riding the new 76mm kryptos. Biker looked like he was on 70mm wheels that had no name on them (Krypto design but not kryptos - possibly Labedas.) A few guys had standard 70mm kryptos. A few turbo wheels. And of course Hardwick was on 73mm gravitys (hyper mundos?) as was DT I think.
A few guys had slider gloves (DT, VonBommel...) VonBommel also had a cool looking prototype helmet from ProTec. Way better looking than those Motorcycle helmets.
Nothing else major to report.
Just though you might be curious.

Hey nullarbor--- if you want a flexdex... they are having a sale right now. You save 15$ on the 60" and about 9$ on any of the mini models. (get the slater mini he deserves the royalties) I'm thinking of getting one of their blowout wood decks (guess which one), 70mm 74a power paws, randal 2's, abec5 bearings, and 3' of 9" camo griptape! all for less than 125$ to my doorstep. Then I need to find some angled risers to really "complete" the package. Depending on the deck this board could be a lot better than most completes that run around 150$ save 25$ and better components --- Viva el cinco de mayo!
P.S. In america el cinco de mayo sounds kinda exotic, but in mexico it's just the fifth of may

This is the closest I have to a "complete" RTR board. I picked it up used for $80 which is what the deck alone cost new.It comes "factory" with Tracker B-2's and Envy's in-house 72mm/78a cored wheels. A different ride compared with others.Deck features:snowboard style shape with holes for wheel clearance, negative(?) camber for truck mounting with tip/tail kicks.Came with angled urethane risers that previous owner used(backwards?) to quicken steering respose. I reversed to increase neg. camber which this board seemed to have been designed for.I would consider this board to have a medium amount of flex, good for casual carving downhill runs. When I have been riding shortboards for awhile it is a real treat to jump on this "slow-turning-pig"!Big carving arcs with full body extension, with higher speed creating exponentially larger grins!! I can never leave anything alone, so I made the following mods:Swiss bearings,Motobilt speed-rings,GK king-pins,Supercush 99a bushings, topped off with custom stainless hardware.
