Hey longboarders!
MetroLongboarders are rolling again this Sunday, June 22. After meeting at Hogtown around 12noon, we're heading to Cummer Skate Park for a bit of a park session then on to the big hills of Showcrest and Sawley. We might even hit Grandview. These are all near Steeles between Bayview and Lesley.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Later, Tom

come to ottawa too! joyce , sounds like you did great! thanks for representing us! with all the bs on the slalom & vendors sites and no posts or comments on women's or masters - figures! when stuff gets serious, only the strong care to post! dovercourt skaters..we extended the deadline for the accomodation reservation ..but cfav is right ..takes a lot more to run a race than licking a fedex label ..the big guy does rock!
see ya'll soon, mb

Ok I am back from Netherlands and Germany. The skateboarding was pretty good and the contests were challenging. My Tight needs work. The best part was when I went to Oldenzaal skatepark in Enschede area. I gave blood there but managed to relax a bit. Sitting in the chair Richy gave me, I watched the few skaters all afternoon. Something I rarely get to do is sit around. Fine. So I am the only women in the ASS contest. They are a good group, I think they accepted me. I sweated there, trying to dial in the course. I dont know what my time was but they gave me a blank myskateboard from Cologne as a prize. And a hat. And that was that. Next contest: Ottawa. See you there.

Looking to make plans to visit our relatives in TO, anyone know of any planned races in the area? Or if I post the possible dates, maybe we can get a skate session going? Let me know what you all think.

hey guys, check the website - the meet n' greet is at the ottawa sk8park athletic club on the friday night - just to ease up the registration and stuff - if some guys don't end up making it , we'll have the registration packs on site on sat morn BUT it would be reaalllly easier if ya'll stopped by for a hello, refreshments and pick up racers packs 5 pm - 9pm barbecue and skate sat night at the skatepark prizes at the race site after the race on sun CHECK THE REGISTRATION SITE book rooms by June 15 to get the price; there are five rooms reserved at the site from last year (near legacy) and 15 rooms closer to downtown, the venue and the skatepark REGISTER and PAY by June 24 at noon or the price goes up $25 this enables us to get organized and run the race smoothly with as much advanced planning as possible after just attending two big races in Europe, I know ours will be good! totally stoked mb

Hey MetroLongboarders,
This coming Sunday, June 10, is the next regular session[/size]. We're gonna head over to the Old Mill area for some good old hill riding. First we're gonna meet at Hogtown around 12 noon, then drive to the spot. We can ride or drive to some other hills during the day. If you want to find your own way there - it's near a Bloor line TTC stop - contact me at metrolongboarder@gmail.com for directions.
The next couple of sessions will be Sunday June 24 and July 8. Let me know if you have any destinations you'd like to suggest. I'm open to other suggestions as well.
Later, Tom

MB + C: Thanks for remembering I was there last year. PSWC was not a contest I enjoyed. H=Hannover should be fun. They have the best start ramp in Europe. Should be challenging as well. There should be some rad ripping riding all around. Getting car in Amsterdam. Leaving Wednesday at 6 pm. Arrive Hannover Thursday to sleep and practice. Friday - Sunday contest. Monday depart for Enshede Oldenzaal skatepark for R+R. Wednesday head to Zandvoort to stay while waiting for ASS (amsterdamslalom.com). Head home Monday June 11. See you.

Hey Longboarders!
This coming Sunday, May 27, the MetroLongboarders will hit the hills of High Park [Toronto Ontario] and surrounding area. And you're invited to join in.
We'll meet at Hogtown [401 King St West] around 12 noon and depart by car around 12:15. We'll park near the Garrison Restaurant around 12:40 and ride from there.
Contact me at metrolongboarder@gmail.com for maps or other information ... or to make a suggestion.
See you Sunday! Tom
In other longboarding news:
Naphte Magazine is now digital! To download a copy for free go to www.naphte.com ... don't forget to sign up for the free newsletter as well.
Need some gear ...
Hogtown has received a big new order of longboarding gear.
And, from our friends in NYC ...
Well, Just about 2 weeks to the Central Park Race! Sorry I haven't been able to send out more emails but I am working full time and I basically just come home and fall asleep, oh after skateboarding from Queens that is... I have been in touch will all of the major sponsors and we are going to have some great prizes and of course the trophy.
Just a reminder... Because of problems we had with the park rangers last year we are going to meet outside the park boundaries at Columbus Circle, under the Maine Monument on the Northeast corner of Central Park west and 59th. I would appreciate it if no one enters the park until we have all gathered and are ready to go. Also please try to not to attract a lot of attention to yourselves (Damn freaks that you are already).
I hope everyone is planning to go to the slide event later at 12 midnight hosted by Brian Petrie of Earthwing Skateboards. For directions to that event check out www.broadwaybomb.com
Ian Nichols 917-674-7683 ibunyc@aol.com
BUT contact Ian before heading to the big apple, as they may be repaving the part of Central Park they race on, so the location or date might change last minute.

I'm super-stoked to tell you that Claude has gone to Thunder Bay to train eight skateboard coaches for the City of Thunder Bay! I often wonder if there's anyone else in Canada or anywhere who gives of himself so tirelessly to promote our sport? He was in Kingston two weeks ago training two there and we had eight traines the previous week here in Ottawa. Anyone who has ever had the benefit of Claude's coaching knows what a difference it can make to your game... We've been working on the Ontario Skateboard Coach Training Program for close to a year and it's coming together!
Feeel like coming to our race to improve ? see you June 29 for the pre-party at the skatepark
