Toronto Beach's Glen Monor Session
On 8/11/2007 Tom wrote in from Canada  (70.49.nnn.nnn)

Hey MetroLongboarders,

I'll have limited access to the internet for the next week, so I'm letting you know about the next session now. It will be on Sunday August 19. We'll start by meeting at Hogtown around 12 noon, then drive to the Beach's to ride the hills and cruise the boardwalks. We'll meet up in the Beach's on Glen Manor Drive just north of Queen East near Pine Crest - we'll probably be there by 12:45pm.

Heads-up: The session after that may be a road trip on Labour Day Weekend - Sunday September 2 - to some long hills that can either be taken fast or carved. A carved run can take 10 minutes to get down some of these quiet residential streets.

Talk to you later,
Tom

Ok I don't know why the photos in my last post didn't work. They were the event poster and map. If you want to see them, check the slalom forum as it worked there.

Toronto MetroLongboarder's Session Sunday August 5
On 7/31/2007 Tom Browne wrote in from Canada  (70.49.nnn.nnn)

Hey MetroLongboarders,

Well, the subject title may refer to the weather forcast just as much as the ride we have planned. This coming Sunday [Aug 5], after meeting up at Hogtown around noon, we're heading up the subway line to the Lawrence Station as our starting point - we'll be there around 12:40.

With out giving all the details on this route again, we ride mostly downhill to the downtown area. On the ride we hit hills, parking garages, banks, and some flat land cruising. We ride on streets, through parks, educational institutions, and cemeteries.

There are a couple good places along the way to cool off in some shade, as well as get some food and drink.

Hope to sk8 with you soon,
Tom

sometimes the cheap motels are crappy but mostly they are fair! complain all you want but its a waste of energy
when we all make tons of money racing, we can choose a finer hotel ; til then sleep in your car or a cheap bed and bring your best gear - and ride it, baby!

evolutions dvd party
On 7/25/2007 Michael Brooke wrote in from Canada  (65.95.nnn.nnn)

we are making plans for a KILLER launch party for the new Concrete Wave Evolutions dvd.

this year, Toronto will see the dvd BEFORE anyone in the world.

It's 2 hours of longboarding, pool skating, slalom, freestyle and just about all other types of skating.

We will have a great ska band playing while we feature the DVD. They are called tea for the voyage. Visit their website to find out more www.teaforthevoyage.com

I will have more info shortly...we are just finalizing date, time and place. More than likely 7pm and 10 pm shows on Aug 28th

and yeah, Red Bull agreed to sponsor.

we'll also bring the new issue and give out dozens of copies...

let me know your thoughts...I hope you guys can make it!

cheers

sk8 park and big hills
On 7/17/2007 Tom Browne wrote in from Canada  (70.49.nnn.nnn)

Hey Toronto Longboarders!

MetroLongboarders are rolling again this Sunday, July 22 ... and it's a repeat session as well. Exactly one month ago, on July 22, we did this session. Everyone enjoyed it so much we thought we'd repeat it for those that didn't make it.

After meeting at Hogtown around 12noon, we're heading to Cummer Skate Park for a bit of a park session then on to the big hills of Showcrest and Sawley. We might even hit Grandview. These are all near Steeles [mostly south of it] between Bayview and Lesley. You can meet up at the sk8 park after 12:40, or onthe hills some time after that.

Let me know if you have any questions! I even have maps.
