Toronto: MetroLongboarders Road Trip

Hey MetroLongboarders,
This coming Sunday, October 21, is a regular longboarding session with a road trip twist. This is a good session for most skill levels.
If you need a ride, meet at Hogtown around 12 noon.
To keep the cops away we've found that walking up the hill works really well. It's also a good time to talk amongst our selves and say "hi!" to the locals - another way to fend off the cops.
I probably won't have access to the internet after Tuesday at 5pm until next week. Sorry for any inconveniences.
Best regards, Tom

O.k., what of Ball Mt. on the 13th?? It's CLOSED, the gate is up, you'll need to skate in (and out). Use the G.S. hill, it's closer. I'll check in IF I get a phone call saying someone's there. Otherwise, wait...
I've got plans to have Phil (the local, skate-friendly Ranger) meet with GSI and SMS and PODIUM Skate/Snow museum for a talk about The Dam's future in Slalom and D.H. and Sliding (plus the Bowl nearby!) for next year's and beyond contests. Be patient, stay tuned..
And, if you run at The Dam, be nice, quiet, pack-your-trash, etc, as to not intefere with future events. It's gonna be good: almost worth the wait!
My apologies to all... The Job, job training, and the needs of my (now 11 month-old Twins) family came before the planning and execution of Racing at Ball Mountain. I hope you all understand. The death of my parents, combined with these other, new, life experiences, kinda threw me this year. With help, the Dam wll be back as a major race in the New-England arena. I simply cannot do it alone, but I appreciate any and all Enthusiasm about the hills I've uncovered and raced on! Interest alone is a great gauge of my ability to, at least, be a scout for those want to ride faster! ;-)

Hey MetroLongboarders,
We're skipping a week and having the next longboarding session on Sunday October 21. Details for that session will be sent out later this week or early next. Look forward to another road trip!
Best regards, Tom
In the mean time, here's some other longboarding stuffing for your turkey:
Its that time of year again...the leaves change colors....the temperature is more pleasant...... AND>>>>A bunch of freakin crazy longboarders skate down Broadway in traffic. SO just to remind you all we meet at: 116th Street and Riverside on Saturday, October 27th at 12 noon. I think it might be colder than other years as its so late in October. We may look into getting some disposable hoodies, if not we might as someone with a car to take everyone's sweaters, etc., to the Barbecue so we can all be comfortable and not have to prove you're a man by taking the nippy weather. Looks like Keegan Ales will be at the barbecue supplying the festivities. See you there.

Hey MetroLongboarder and others,
This weekend [Sun Sept 30] we'll be having a crazy longboarding session in the city. We'll be doing the run from the Lawrence subway station downhill to the downtown area. On the ride we hit hills, parking garages, banks, and some flat land cruising. We ride on streets, through parks, educational institutions, and cemeteries. All are welcome to rip it up.
Meet at Hogtown around 12 noon or the Lawrence station around 12:45.
Later, Tom

i think i did a couple of years ago but i'll see if i can find the info again ... actually if i remember right i think Chris Barrett was talking to some people as well but he'll let me know the city official thing is a part of the equation only; you need a team of dedicated racers/supporters who work to make it come together starting is good, though who should i send it to? i don't want to post contact details here as these folks need to be approached with a solid plan... i had met some of them at another event we attended with Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance

Maybe passing on the names of those city officials to the key players in the Toronto Slalom Scene would be a good idea. I like the idea of High Park.
The Toronto crew has always been down for a race, we just aren't going to ask people to travel in if we feel we can't do it the right way. This sounds liek a step in the right direction.

Hey everyone,
WOW ... that was an amazing Board Meeting yesterday! An unofficial 250 longboarders! No arrests! Only one minor hospital visit! Hundreads, if not thousands, of photos taken! Thank's to Jacoband his army!
It's hard to match that sort of event, but you can still have a great time at a MetroLongboarding session. The next one is Sunday Sept 16. The planned location is the High Park area, including Ellis Ave and maybe Riverside Drive. Meet up at Hogtown around 12 noon or the restaurant in High Park around 12:45 or so.
