Yep. Big difference.
Changes the turning properties of trucks.
To get the effect without purchasing them cut a couple of 1/4" risers in half and create a wedged effect.

Spirit Sails has a good sail adaption kit originally designed for canoe or kayaking but with an added boom it would make a great longboarding sail.

I like Aleve (naproxen sodium) better than ibuprofen...it's a better anti-inflammatory (for me anyway). Might make you a little sleepy to pre-dose, but once you get skating that shouldn't be an issue.

I recall a discussion about this, last year, over in Dr Dave's.
I've been taking Glucosamine for about a year plus my dear old white-haired mother's standby: Cod liver oil.
It's fish oil, so I guess it's more likely to give me a glossy coat than fix my crumbling bones, but there are other benefits, such as: If you're into a heavy juicing regime, a cap of Cod liver oil may help take the load off your kidneys
I also use calcium/Vit A and D pills too. hell, I'll take anything.
Other suggested pills to pop were Ibuprofen BEFORE skating.
Drink lots of water.
Stay off the booze.

Another route for skate sailing is to assemble a rig from your local windsurfing shop. Many of them hold "swap meets" this time of year, where people buy and sell used equipment. A couple of years ago I picked up a small sail (4.5 meter), mast, boom and mast foot/extension, all for about $75. Smaller sails work great for skateboards, because there's so much less friction than with a windsurfing board on the water. I use this setup on an older all-terrain board from Mountain Board Sports.

Wow, that Skywing looks like it would work a whole lot better than the golf umbrella I've been using to sail-skate with along the bay in So SF.
Golf umbrellas will move you, but sometimes they invert and aren't quite big enought to move you as fast as you'd like to go. Still fun and cheap, tho.

SkyWings makes portable wing sails with modern materials and designs. I came accross a longboarder one day in Helsinki. He happened to be their VP. :-) I've used these sails on ice and they're brilliant.

Apparently the cross grain plys are capable of experiencing quite a bit of expansion/contraction depending upon humidity... the over sized holes are to compensate for this... HR

Started the longboard kit today... sealing tape has been replaced with a sort of sticky putty substance.
The board has a nice shape to it with a mellow concave and a very slight camber. Pics coming soon.
Rather than lay this one up a few plys at a time... I decided to do them all at once... just have to work real fast, but seems to do just fine. HR

Buy some glow paint and paint the bottom of a maple board. Don't buy this plastic board. Polypropylene can't make a good skateboard, it has only 40% the stiffness of maple (at 1.5 times the weight), and little or no pop. And, it has only about 10% the creep resistance, so if the board isn't a rocker now, it will be !

I picked up a set at the L.S.J. (thanks Ricky) and through them on the 36 pistol green on the front red in the back. Let me tell you, I feel a lot safer riding around at night with my lights on. (That’s funny light on a skateboard) I’ve let some of my longboarding friend’s look at them; everyone thinks it would be good to get a set for safety reasons. (We go longboarding at night in parking garages and street hills) I look in to cost; I think it’s worth it.

Funny you should mention hydraulics... the thought has come to mind... as has modifying another type of trendy car device for the bottoms of skateboards (but I won't say what that one is until I build one first!)
I am having a hard time getting decent night time pics of these LED risers in action... I am using a digital camera and it seems the best i can come up with is little pinpoints of light... even though they throw considerably more.
I am sold on the flux lighted riser idea... they really do help to make you more visable at night, especially to other vehicles. Not to mention that they do look pretty cool... especially when several decks are outfitted and riding together... HR
