Anything else I should consider? What mat'l is timeship using? Then there's the issue of attatchment. I've seen removable pads, but in my mind they're not really neccesary since the glove usually wears out as fast or faster than the pad. Your ABEC 11 Grippens use a 10mm spacer (as do most wheels).The easy way to see if the spacer fits is to look at an unmounted wheel with One bearng in it. Add the spacer you think ought to fit, and see if there a discrepancy in the alingment of the spacer to the inner shoulder of the bearing seat within the wheel. With some Cored wheels, that 'inner shoulder' will be the tabs the bearing rest against. In non-cored wheels, it's that inner ring between the bearings. The width of that inner shoulder is otherwise hard ot measure, unless you have a machinist's caliper, so having a few spacers around that you Know the width of is the easy way to figure it out. The axles on a given truck might not let you put a wider wheel (such as an Exate Cherrybombs or Power Paws, which use an 11mm spacer) as the Locknuts need to Engage the nylon 'locker' onto the threading of the truck's axle. (A friend of mine has an early 80's-vintage Radikal, and for whatever reason, only wheels with 8mm spacers fit. Odd, since very few riders in the early 80's used Roller-Skate based wheels, but whatever; older ABEC 11 Stingers do fit) I know that some of the Seismics made in Germany had axles that fit only wheels with 8mm spacers. Randals shouldn't have this problem, but if they do, consider taking the hanger/axle to a Machinist and have a few Millimeters of Hanger shaved off to expose more Axle. Also, look at your locknuts. If you have 'hardware store' deep-thread nuts, they'll not give you the extra axle length that 'aircraft grade' locknuts will. Locknuts are easy to find from better skateshops, online or otherwise, and this is Way cheaper than consulting a machinist. Washers also will take up axle space, so use thinner 'speed rings' if you need the extra room on the axles. Again, easy to get from skateshops. If you like the trucks, and don't want the hassle[s] of fitting an 10mm-spaced wheel onto them, then look for the 'narrow-core' Kryptonics or Hypers that use an 8mm bearing spacer. Granted these are usually narrower wheels, so may not have the traction of Grippens or Avalons. However, they're still out there and available in a variety of sies from 62mm up through 85mm. Look for the cores that are either Spoked (like Stingers or Turner La Costas) or have many small holes (Krypto KrypGrips/Luge Classic-K, Hyper Strada or Mundo). The Bad thing with these wheels is that heat build-up will tend to peel the 'tire' from the 'hub', so if like Big hills, maybe not...     Rate post 211367 ! My sliding is pretty much limited to bertlemans on flat ground and handicapped ramps. I've been using harbinger fingerless skate gloves with just a small wrist plate and my fingers get torn apart and any gloves I try to wear over them become fingerless pretty quickly. I'm looking for something that's better to straight-up pivot on that allows me to spreas my (hopefully pucked) fingers for low-speed stability. Anybody know of a brand that fits these criteria? The only ones I've been able to find that even come close are the ones I linked to earlier and the Lush Mr. Spock specials, only the latter of which is available for sale and doesn't quite have the spread I'm looking for.     Rate post 211344 ! Keeps your fingers together so they dont break or get bent all funky if you wreck. You can still grab your board (but try not too it looks bad) and hold most stuff (beers, boards). You have a lot of strength in your united fingers...that strength comes in handy when you are finishing your slide and getting back up to a standing position. Its also good cause with the full bar you cant flip anybody off (my temper is too quick sometimes). I've tried Gravity full fingers- too small - finger pucks get caught on stuff and the thumb puck was aggravating. The plastic wore down too fast. I tried "Motion" gloves from skunk. Too small for me and they don't slide smooth as TimeShip gloves. Tried to buy glvoes from 'Bozi' or whatever. He never sent them, I had to ask for my money back. I later bought some of his gloves from PurpleSkunk but the pucks are glued on and I had to keep re-gluing them. I gave them away to a neophyte longboarder. Timeship Racing has the best gloves currently available, period. If Darth Vader did downhill he would use timeship racing gloves. Sexy carbon fibre braiding on knuckles, practically frictionless slide plastic (where do they get that stuff?). The gloves are expensive but they outlast cheaper ones. I still think there is room for improvement. I want a slide glove with a wrist splint.     Rate post 211305 !
