World Ranking Birth Dates
On 9/26/2005 Judi Oyama wrote in from United States  (69.105.nnn.nnn)

Starting today I will be helping Hans with his slalom rankings for the US masters category to start in 2006. I need real names and complete birth dates. It's never too late to start. Who knows maybe one day we will even have a grand masters category. At the rate we are all still skating you never know.

There are many women and younger skaters birth dates missing as well so if you see your birth date missing on the rankings please send them in.

Thanks,

Judi Oyama

Hey Midgette,
You've got guts to ride GMR standing up. I'd be into making a trek up there for a Saturday morning. I bet Isabelle would love it, too. Iz?

girls on GMR!
On 9/23/2005 Carly wrote in from United States  (207.200.nnn.nnn)

Hey Lynn and Isabelle

Have either of you ridden GMR?? I've gone there with Jimmy and John a few times since i've been down here and last weekend we had an awesome crew including the sector 9 boys and the kludy's. Judith has ridden the hill as well, but unfortunately we haven't ridden it together yet. It is by far my one of my favourite runs, 9 miles of the sickest turns around, banked corners and all! none of it is too steep, although you get haulin around some of the corners! jimmy and john are insane and take those corners unbelievably fast! I think you girls would love this hill and have the experience to do it safely, i haven't crashed there yet! the road is closed off to all vehicles right now so that makes it a thousand times safer.

If either of you or any girls here in socal feel the need for speed and sick corners send me an email! the best time to go is EARLY early on weekend mornings. Maybe sometime in the next couple of weeks we can figure somethin out if you wanna check out gmr, or eventually i'll get my butt down south and check out the SD skate scene!

ride with pride
adios!

I love this sport and I will be going to some races next year for sure! It would be great to ride with you and Lynn and really, any women riders. We need to show it in force! Hope to see you next year.

SG R.I.P
On 9/19/2005 isabelle wrote in from United States  (209.66.nnn.nnn)

SG finally got it together started showcased girls ripping instead of posing, after dropping most of thier slutty-girl-look ads.

I almost gave up and stopped buying it, now that SG got finally got it right in their lastest issues, it's gone......

Maybe industry get it first try next time by creating an extreme mag full of girls/women ripping like they do in real-life, not lose support from those offended by a mag showcasing too many pretty girls not doing much.

R.I.P. rest in peace

The downhill sliding/slalom clinic hosted by Isabelle was so much fun! Thanks so much, Isabelle, and of course a big thank you to all the sponsors who supported this event. I am so stoked to get out there again and take on more hills and more speed!! I really enjoyed meeting the other women skaters - what a great group! Iz, Lynn, and Sergio - seeing you rip up the hill was so inspiring! I hope we all get together again soon (except for the security guards who tried to tell us we couldn't skate our hill!). Later Skaterz!!!

Downhill Divas
On 9/6/2005 amy wrote in from United States  (64.32.nnn.nnn)

I am a novice skater and it was so inspiring to see so many women charging it on the slalom course and sliding downhill with style. There were girls of all ages and levels trying out the different techniques. Isabelle is an awesome teacher and spent time with everybody. Her passion for skating is infectious and non-stop. Lynn was also very helpful and ripped on the slalom course.
The whole thing was well-organized. The Schwag bag was chock full of goodies: free t-shirts, a hat and DVD from Gravity, stickers galore and cool socks from Emily. On top of that we got some hot PINK wheels and bearings, unbelievable! The sponsors were generous.
The atmosphere was all about FUN, safety and learning. I can’t wait for the next clinic and wonder why I never tried skating before. I just bought some pads and a helmet from TSG and will be getting a board from Gravity. What an awesome way to stay fit and meet some new friends! Everyone was so supportive and encouraging. Sergio blew our minds with his demos. Whew!
When the clinic was over we all had had huge smiles on our sweaty faces.
Kudos to Isabelle for kicking off a great clinic and thanks to all of those who helped out. The seed has been planted, watch it blossom.

Downhill Diva Clinic
On 9/1/2005 isabelle wrote in from United States  (68.7.nnn.nnn)

WOMAN!
We had SO MUCH FUN, spills (no injuries though), thrills and lots of skills bathed in girlish laughter. There were 16 girls skating the same hills....no guys with the exception of a few soulful men who demoed, guided, photographed, cheered and supported their women.
I've NEVER seen so many girls downhilling, slaloming at the same time. Each watched the others style, guts and technique molding their own improved abilities. There were some pool/street skater into downhill converts and many new skater girls who felt comfortable in learning that speed can be your friend if you learn how to control it. They all improved so much. The vibe was so positive. The hills so perfectly cleaned..........SKATING RULES!
Lynn Kramer was amazing as always. Her skill, outgoing personality and help were a huge part of the clinic's success. LYNN YOU ROCK!
As for the Downhill Diva ladies. I was in awe watching you conquer.
I'm going to offer another clinic for 18 years and under in late September and then another 18 years plus clinic in October.
DOWNHILL DIVA and proud of it!

Hi Girlies.

The World Championships are coming up in about 3 weeks. Los Osos, which is about 7 minutes from Moron Bay (morro) just opened a brand new cement skate park with bowls and all that good stuff to satisfy any skater. We NEED women skaters to come check it out during worlds. theres only about 3 girls who skate the park right now and more encouragement would be awesome. If you're coming to worlds and you skate parks, BE THERE.

Hey Iz and Lynn,

Can you guys please share this info with any girls/women you think might be interested? Many thanks..

Over Labor Day weekend-Sept 2-5 me, Mandy, Heidi, and Alex will be teaching skate clinics at Huntington. They're building a special streetcourse just for the event on the beach. Sunday will be a team contest for the clinic participants and Monday is a pro/am open contest. They're giving away a trip to the Gallaz skate jam in Australia as the grand prize along with a bunch of other prizes and product etc.

Unfortunately, the press release for it didn't go out until late this last week, so I dont' know how many people are going to even hear about the event before it happens. The release is posted on sgmag.com and an earlier version of it is posted on my site as well. Hope you guys can come up for it and Iz, you should enter the surf contest as well. It's like a 4 star or something, can't remember.

Many thanks, Sasha :)

Hey Lynn,

Thanks so much for the offer to help this newbie out. Unfortunately, my job keeps interferring with my life and I was unable to get the weekend off so I will not be racing in Breck. I will definantly be there next year though. Good luck to you and to all racers, have fun and hopefully it won't rain this year. If you happen to see gary fluitt, tell him thanks for the offer as well to give me advice ( Martin emailed him to let him know I might come out.) This community of slalom racers is great!

Midgette and Trish,
Yes, I'll be in Breck. Yes, riding Vail too. Trish, don't worry about it being too hard. You can always run smaller wheels or run without spacers. I, and any other person on the course, will be glad to give you any of the support or technical help you need. That is one of the great things about slalom. You won't be ignored. come on out. You'll have a great time. Also, contact COSS, cause some races have a novice race early in the morning so you can warm up on an easier course.
