I started longboarding about a year ago and more recently began sliding thanks to a bloke i met in the local skate park who was cool enough to show me the basics and even gave me a pair of slide gloves. Although i'm definately improving i seem to be getting alot of aggro from my left Knee (I'm goofyfoot) due to having it bent really low against the board. I had to stop skating for a couple of weeks cos it was really painful to bend. Is this abnormal? any advice would be good cos i've just got the sliding bug and its really frustrating not being able to skate. Hopefully see you at the Bristol(UK) Slide Clinic in July, cheers Cliff.

Glen,
Tell your kids that Cliff hopes to meet and skate with them some day. I haven't heard from you in a while. Hope your health is better these days? You are one of the many fine people I've had the pleaseure to meet skateboarding.
All the best to you Glen, Cliff

Cliff, how you doing?
I spent most of mothers day skating with my 11 and 13 yr old boys. They have finally gotten into skateboarding! I was teaching them how to carve low frontside and backside turns in a non-stickbug style. After that, I gave them my slide gloves and taught them how to use them to really tighten up the turns and how to slide to a stop. My younger boy took a couple of spills and was done, my older boy got totally into the sliding thing. He was using my mother driveway and would skate up it fast, backside slide and then redirect back down, sort of a sliding Backside Bert. We live on a hill and I now feel much better about them skating on it because they now know how to stop safely.
We, had more fun just carving turns and sliding than we've ever had at a skatepark yesterday. I taught them the name Cliff Coleman and that they need to thank him for the sliding techniques that they learned second hand.
Thanks Cliff,
Glen Darcey

The wheels post by Chaput was a joke. It was refering to all the times I've asked him to hook me up with wheels. Get in touch with Chaput and see if he will donate schwag to the event. Then you can join the long line of us who say, "hook me up, I need some wheels".
See you at the clinic, Cliff Coleman

Hey, where's Cliff? Why isn't he ever on this message board any more? Is he okay? Cliff, I need you to hook me up with some wheels. Gimme a bro deal. After all, I am a CC too. I can't afford to be travelling all over the place giving free advice and having to buy wheels which I slide the hell out of. Hook a brother up young man! I'm gonna give you my cell phone number in two different posts so no one steals my identity. Are you ready? Seven one four, six two zero...

Today I will remember for ever. This morning, I taught Lloyd Kahn to slide. Last month Lloyd turned 70! The message here is to stay fit and never say your too old. I have a new hero and his name is Lloyd Kahn. He can really ride and slide.

Slide Clinics in Denver.

Tom,
I don't have any clinics scheduled at the moment for the Denver area. I will be at a clinic in San Luis Obispo, May 14th. Then I'll be in Pender Harbor, BC, May 19th through May 24th. I will then be in Albuquerque for the Indian School ditch Race, May 28th. In Albuquerque, I will teach anyone who needs slide instruction how to slide. June is free of scheduled events at this time. In July, I plan on being in the UK for at least the first three weeks of the month.
If you think there are enough students in you area to make a clinic posible, e-mail me at the link for more information on how to set one up.
Thanks, Cliff Coleman

All participants for the slide Clinic in San Luis Obispo, will be meeting at 9:00AM, at Johnny Miller's. His Ranch address is: 685 Oconner Way, San Luis Obispo, CA. This location is close to the chosen areas for the clinic. Use your favorite map software, "Mapquest" for example, to guide you to the meeting place.
Please arrive on time to allow all to sign in. Come with with full safety gear. Bring slider gloves if you have them! If you have extra pairs of gloves to share, bring them also.
Bring a deck for sliding! Bring a deck that will accomodate at least a shoulder width stance. This is most easily done on a deck with a kick tail or even a double kick. Bring wheels in the mid 80s to mid 90s regarding durometer. Use the trucks of your choice.
See you there, Cliff Coleman

The San Luis Obispo Slide Clinic will take place Saturday, May 14th, beginning at 9:00am. The meeting location will be announced soon. I'm currently checking three locations to find the best site available.
The cost is still at the introductory price of only $50.00. Inexpensive when you consider that these lessons will make you safer for the rest of your skate life. As soon as the web-site goes up, the price will increase to $100.00. Get in now for half price, and join the fun!
Bring pads, helmet and slider gloves. If you don't have gloves, you can order them on the net. Or simply do a search here and make a pair. We should also have a few extra pairs.
Pay at the event. Contact Cliff Coleman for more information via e-mail at: "sk8fast@sbcglobal.net".
Sincerely, Cliff Coleman
