Hello Sliders,
This May 14th, Johnny Miller and I will be teaching Slide lessons in the San Luis Obispo, CA area. This is a chance to get in on an introductory offer of only $50.00 to make you safer for the rest of your skate life. Come learn to slide. The location will be set soon. I will then give directions to said place. Come hang out and have some fun with friends in a low key atmosphere.
May 19th, I fly to race Downhill at Danger Bay, in Canada. I'll be there until May 24th. Two Downhill races and a Slide contest. It's all part of the Pender Harbour May Day Festivities. This means big crowds for the events. It will be great fun!
May 26th, I fly to Albuquerque to race at the Indian School Race. This ditch is one of about 40, 2 to 5 miles in length. To race there with the legends of our sport will be awesome. Also, you just can't beat the hospitality of Joe Lehm and his crew. We are also going to teach anyone interested to slide at this venue. Then we will go for a slide session afterwards.
For you Brits or any of my friends from other Countries, Albuquerque is a must visit for you.
In the works is a trip back to the UK to teach sliding and skate at Festivals in three locations. The Sheffield area in the North again, then Bristol, Where "Shiner" is located, and another in Cornwall with the Faltown crew. After completion of the UK tour, there is a strong possibility of continuing the trip by traveling to the Netherlands.
It's going to be a great year and the ball is just starting to roll!

David,
Patrick and I will be flying into Vancouver, not Seattle. We are flying stand-by via United. We don't know for sure when we will arrive. When we do arrive, we need contact information so someone can pick us up. I'll be there until the following Tuesday, when I fly back to the Bay Area. Patrick will stay a few days longer and return on the following Thursday.
Danger Bay will be one to remember!

Is there any interest in having Cliff do a slide clinic here in Abq during the Outlaw Invitational? It's May 28th and 29th, and for those not yet into racing or sliding it's going to be a great opportunity to get up to 'speed'.

Thanks Cliff for your comments on Hackett's forum. In 1978 I threw the dice and lost in this biz. Thanks to people like Keith Hollie,Jack Smith, and others, I kept the faith to make it to the 2000 worlds and see the energy that was greater than anything in the previous 20 years- yes 20 years had gone by from my exit from the truck biz.
The guys now involved in this sport are worthy of someone's financial attention. It's guys like you and many others that make the money well worth spending.
Another person that has gotten less attention is my partner Mike Renick. Without his dedication to the manufacturing side of this equation, the most responsive truck ever developed would not be available, and my marketing investments you have highlighted would not be happening.
Thanks again for your comments.

Hey Cliff Just a quick one to let you know that I am getting a load of people wanting to know when you are coming over. Do you think the shiner hill is a good place to hold a clinic? We have had some good sessions on it so far, It may be short but the pitch of the hill lends itself to sliding quite well. also check out this bust free hairpin a couple of miles up the road from me.. http://www.stoke.tk/ Go to the Hairpin Video!! Also I skated Sydney Gdns In Bath yesterday which is OK, Traffic Free and great setting... so terrain and Attendance shouldn't be a problem at all. Just give us the nod when you are ready and I will start collecting names.. Hope all is well, Darren

Dougie,
I don't ride for Gravity anymore, so I won't be hooking up with them for any tours/promotions. I now have to talk to the powers that be in the UK and start finding out what is possible regarding a UK tour. Darren at Shiner, the boys at Faltown, the crew at Lush and the Guys at Essence are all on my wish list of who to hook up with for my next visit. Yes, I am working on having Sergio make the trip with me.
More news to come, Cliff Coleman

yeah you got to wear the pads at all times. of course cliff knows this one all too well but there is a very good reason for that. many have fallen in attempt to break speed records along with more radical sliding. some guys can get away with out wearing pads but it is the roll of the dice. just put it this way is the cost of the pads really going to equal the medical bill for falling...hell no. they are way cheaper and will be of good use at one point or another. if you are doing 360s and such i would recommend elbow pads cause if you over rotate anything that is going to be the point of contact for your body to the ground. i have personally found knee pads to be a little redundant but i still wear them every session because i know it only takes one bad fall and you won't ever be using those bad boys the same way again. i figure its better to be safe then to be a cool guy and wind up in the hospital when you could have easily avoided the whole situation.

David,
Here is a contact number for you. 510-652-9653.
UK Clinics, I have delayed scheduling any UK clinics. I wanted to see if I could get Mr. Sergio Yuppie to make the trip with me. He is interested now that I was able to contact him, and I will now start to see if a trip for Sergio and myself is in the cards. I know you guys and girls would love to meet and skate with him.
Safety Gear, I reccomend gloves first, followed by a good helmet and full pads. When doing 360 slides the knees are vunerable. When learning, the elbows often touch down and padding is needed. Always protect your head, you won't be sorry.

Hey there Cliff, just wonderin if you wear pads whenever you go out or just when your goin to push it? Of course that assumes you cruise around, maybe you just go out for sessions =) Anyways, all that aside what I'd like to know is what pads you wear?
