i guess this is the right site. who are the "dixie downhillers"? i was checking out the race dates and noticed the beast of the east wasn't by the downhillbillies this year. i walked up on the race at hobby park last year and talked to a guy called hammerhead, but don't who evan is. is this the same guy as hammerhead?

Posted: Today at 8:42 a.m.
NEWPORT, Tenn. — Authorities say famed Appalachian moonshiner Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton, who was scheduled to go to prison this week, has died.
The bearded, 62-year-old Parrottsville author of the book "Me and My Likker" pleaded guilty in April to two counts charging him with illegally producing distilled spirits and being a felon in possession of a handgun.
Sutton was expected to report to federal prison Friday to serve an 18-month sentence.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports Cocke County Assistant District Attorney General Brownlow Marsh has not said how Sutton died but that his death is being investigated by authorities.
Sutton's attorney, Tim Moore, couldn't immediately be reached for comment. Moore filed notice last month he planned to appeal Sutton's case to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

I bet the next big thang will be those Scooter Razors Races. Polish up those chromed two wheeled handled bar sparkle racing grips with tassels, mirrors and reflectors optional on the kids pimped package, but helmets still mandatory!!! Rollerskating Ranks will be banned soon I heard!!! Could yall mail me several cases of that Corn Lickher?

As things stand now and until we have some strong assurances that our city will be supportive of skateboarding by working with us and building a skatepark we will not be hosting any events within the city limits of Statesville. This does not mean we will NOT be having events. The DHB, regardless of the current issues related to our downtown district, is committed to continuing promoting skateboarding as a sport, pastime, and postive lifestyle.
This has turned into a very complicated matter but the DHB are working together to make "lemonade" out of the lemons.
Stay tuned. The DHB are alive and well.

The 5th Anniversary of the very first DHB SkateJam is coming up in January. We are going to put something together so mark your calenders for the weekend of January 17th. This will be a layed back OUTLAW ride at your own risk event so come bring it!
It will be skateboarding...longboards, shortboards, street boards, carving boards, cones, no cones, whatever...heck you can even bring a six wheeler....and will be a fun Saturday of skating and hanging out.
Watch this thread and the forum on Downhillbillies.org for further information.
We are scouting locations now and will have more detail as the weekend plans develop.
MARCH 2005 2nd DHB Jam Group Shot
No timers will be used in the making of this Jam!!

Any of y'all find a set of TSG knee pads on Center St. after the GS? They're a little bleached-out looking. I took 'em off before one of my GS heats and left 'em on one of the small start ramps. Would rather pay a few bucks to ship them to STL than to buy new ones. If anyone's seen them, give me a shout. Thanks.

Ingredients: 2 cups yellow corn meal 1 cup plain flour (flour is what gave it the lighter taste and you can experiment with the amount you use if you want) 2 eggs 1 cup buttermilk (you can also use plain milk in a pinch, but nothing compares to buttermilk) 3/4 teaspoon seasoned salt. I use Lowreys but just about any brand will work as you are just looking for something to spice things up a little 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper blend (again, the idea is to spice things up a little). 1 teaspoon baking powder 2/3 teaspoon baking soda 1/8 cup bacon grease. This is another big key to the flavor. In a pinch you can use other types of cooking oil, but bacon is my favorite.
You also need some type of cooking oil to deep fry these in. I usually use Crisco oil although peanut oil and some of the lower fat oils work well too.
Mix all of the dry ingredients in a bowl. Add your eggs, oil, and buttermilk. Stir it all up until the flavors are thoroughly blended.
Turn your cooker on medium-high heat. When it's hot you can drop your hush puppies in using a table spoon. Allow them to brown on all sides. They should begin floating when done, but if they don't, don't overcook them.

I thought Gabe was drinking the cough syrup for its psychotropic effects.
You added some of your own style to the Dixie this year. It was a pleasure hanging out with you. Good luck teaching your youngin to talk right over there in the land of polite indifference.

Thanks for coming. Thanks to my DHB brothers. This year has been one of the bad ones, and without you guys I'd have gone (more) insane.
In short, I'll use a quote from Paul Howard. "This race is like a high school reunion, only you get along with everyone."
