Don't you hate it when idiots use your name and e-mail addresses to post stuff on the board that you didn't write? I wrote the one about not whining, but not the one about the chair. A note to whoever did... it's time to regulate, sucka. steve

How to ride safely: Either learn to Coleman slide or pick your hills wisely. I personally choose option number two because XT A/T's WILL NOT break free under any circumstance, and I wouldn't want them to because they are far too expensive for that kind of foolishness. Don't ride down some whack steep hill until you can handle it, and STOP WHINING!!! You don't have to be like the guys on ESPN CorporateGames! Just ride! steve

Santa Rosa Downhill Festival The event was sensational... truely epic for NorCal. Big time Pro Downhill Skateboard and Streetluge on a monster hill. Super high speeds, close racing, wild crashes... wow! Congrats to all the riders for putting one hell of a show!

Sad News Jeanne Hoffman finally lost her battle with cancer. Jeanne and her husband Stan started the famous Pipeline Skatepark in the 70's, since then she has been a moving force in promoting competitions via CASL and other organizations. There is a full bio and info at http://www.skateboarding.com/
She will e missed.

I`m starting to get tired of my hellcat board. I`ve thought about buying a board from the 60's or 70's, but i don`t know if they still make boards like they did back then!
e-mail me if you know a great board to pull of old-school tricks on!

Well, i just started going on my board 'bout a week ago and my body is just about covered with scabs and bruses from a million wipes. i dont understand half your lingo, but im sure its just like learning to ride, takes some time and some fuckups. Longboarding RAWKS! i ask why more people dont do it? how can a skinny newschool even COMPARE TO THE THRILL?? Well anyways i would really like some help with understanding what the fuck you are talking about, and how you stop yourself at a billion miles an hour otherthan waiting it out and doing carves (which usually kills me).

It sucks. Sydney AUSTRALIA never has any events. I want to have some cool events here. I started longboarding ages ago and got teased(still do get heaps of comments).. especially being a girl and all.. and on top of that having a LONG skateboard. I have loved longboarding.. haven't let ass holes get to me (except sometimes). I would like to try a competition. I want to be a cool longboarder.. and a good way to get better is through humility in competitions. I don't have the money like some rich skaters to go overseas and comptete.. i just want to try , even if I do go crap

I ride in NYC and please any other longboard purely transportation riders contact me ! ... I love my setup I have a 47" gravity board with randal trucks and cherry bomb 82 mm wheels. I am currently going to "go for the gold " and get a 60" sector 9 board with randal 60 degree luge trucks with extra bearings and exkate 82 mm wheels. I am sorry that Exkate cant make their trucks with a machine process in stead of a casting process because the inevitably bend

I have an extensive skateboard video/footage collection of some 1960's but mostly 1970's skateboarding. I would seeking to trade copies of tapes if anyone out there has any footage that i don't have already. I have basically 95% of all the features that were ever made such as go for it, freewheelin, skateboard madness, downhill motion, 5 summer stories, etc. What i'm really looking for is home videos from the 60's and 70's of pools, banks, downhill, etc.
So go dig in those boxes in the basements and attics, email me (barleye@earthlink.net) with what you have and we'll go from there.
check out my skateboarder magazine webpage. it's good for collecters.

Here's the deal on the skatepark. For the time being it is safe from destruction. There was a meeting with the San Diego City Council on Wednesday. Actually, it wasn't about the skatepark, but they dedicated the first few minutes of the meeting to hear comments about the skatepark. The first guy to speak was one of the guys who had built the park, then myself, then Steve Lake of Sector 9, another guy from Sector 9, and finally a man in his 60s. Everybody was positive about the park and came at it from different angles. The best was the old guy. He said that he really admired these kids, and that the park couldn't have been in a better location, and how these kids had finally found a place where they weren't disturbing anyone, and how they kept the place clean. The old guy rocked. You could have found a better spokesperson if you looked for a year.
Anyway the deal is that they put up some concrete barriers, so that you can't ride the banks anymore, while the city manager looks into the liability. So for the time being, the park is safe. For those of you who wrote email, I and the rest of the San Diego skaters thank you.
I'll post further developments as they happen.

A freestyle board looks kinda like a cross between a longboard and a snowboard, with really wide trucks (a foot wide maybe) and pivot wheels in the middle of the trucks. Thus allowing you to perform snowboarding moves such as going down the hill sideways and doing spins and stuff. A mix between longboarding and snowboarding. Only about the price of a snowboard so, I'm gonna stick with longboarding. Peace Gabe

Hey everyone, I was able to try out a freestyle board last week and all I can say is, WOW. It was hard at first but once you got used to it, it was pretty trippy. I was pulling like 540's and crap like that, going down the hill sideways. If you could get good it would probably be as good as longboarding. Kind of expensive though. Peace Gabe
