Chris..
from the posting guidlines
Miscellaneous matter If you're not sure which forum your longboard-related post should go in, put it in the Bulletin Board forum. If you post isn't even about longboarding, the Guest Book is the forum of last resort.

Ideas to counter the Cape May, NJ skate ban:
Register and compete at the next downhill/slalom/park event you can attend. Throw down your reg. fee and skate.
Email thank you notes to all the event sponsors and organizers. Buy the sponsors gear if it meets you needs and support the organizer's future events.
Organize a skate event in your town. Try to get corporate sponsorship for the event. Arrange for hotel discounts for out of town competitors.
Present useful content in your next post to a skate related website, rather than weird, useless, bandwidth wasting keystrokes. Post in the appropriate forum. Support the site advertisers.
Pay attention to the Love park debacle in Philadelphia. The city has misjudged the will of the taxpayers and has misappropriated city tax funds. It's getting a lot of national press.
Watch Viva La Bam and see Philly's FRD skatepark in the opening credits. Watch him make a living violating zoning laws then making the law disappear with money. FDR is a skaterbuilt park, more or less. The skaters took control of the bureaucracy (and their budget) just long enough to build a decent park.
Plan your next vacation around skateparks. Let the hotel know you're in town to skate.
Talk someone out of buying a Trikke or Razor and into buying a longboard.
Contact every advertiser and corporation that uses skating (Army, Nissan, Sobe, Kelloggs, Dairy Association, MTV, Jones soda, Nike etc.) via email or fax and ask them to sponsor a skate event. Many of these vendors have 800 numbers. Call the 800 directory (18005551212, free call) get the # for "sobe", call them for their email or fax #.
Find a New Jersey town with a good skate park and hold a "grind cape may" contest. Get the boom boom huck jam tour sponsor it. Get MTV to shoot it. Get Queens of the Stone Age to play at the event. Have Mike Valley get Black Flag to play at the event. This will bring cash to the locals. Skater cash = influence. They will want the skaters back.
Visit aol.com and search for the Jack Smith SAA story. Email AOL and time warner and let them know you like the coverage of the event.
Subscribe to a skate publication: Concrete Wave, Big Brother Resolve, Transworld, Thrasher, Skateboarder, Juice. Buy skater books, skater backpacks and skater clothing. Support the support industry. Start a skate website or a local skate zine.
Persuade your architect friends to build grind rails and trannies into their designs. Skateboarding is the only sport that gets mentioned in architect school as they now design anti skate stairwells and rails. Imagine the ego stroke for the architect who first designs a no liability, skate friendly, corporate plaza, designed to foster a growing sport.
Persuade your lawyer friends to push for no liability clauses in commercial zoning. This means parents CANNOT sue anyone if their progeny impale themselves on a 12 step.
Pressure the local skateshop to allow skating in their parking lot after hours. Ask them to let you build some wedge ramps for the parking lot. Set up a slalom course in the parking lot once a month.
Good luck.

47 skaters have signed up for the 2004 World Longboard Skateboard Championships in San Diego. If you are planning to compete, go register NOW on the NCDSA Contest Calendar because space is limited. Events include Street*Vert*Slalom*Bowl*Freestyle*360's...

Is there a problem with the NCDSA "Video" forum? In the last few days, I've tried to go there several times, and it never goes anywhere. The first "post," if you can even call it that, is from someone/something called "Feedback Society"
(FBS On 10/31/2003 FEEDBACK SOCIETY wrote in from 81.68.xxx.xxx:)
There are two black boxes on the screen, and nothing else shows up. Am I doing something wrong, or is this some kind of weird video that takes forever to load (I'm on a pretty high-speed connection)? Or is it possibly some sort of messed-up coding that hijacks the page? Whatever it is, it's annoying. Adam/other moderators, can you do something about it--or at least explain it?

From the webmaster..
I just rolled out a couple of database tweaks that have markedly improved page load times. I'm measuring 2-3X faster loads all around!
Ncdsa.com's ever-growing database of posts has been taxing our database server, of late. I removed one particularly power-hungry query, the one that reported the Last Post date/time in the little green stats header of each page. I hope it won't be missed.
Enjoy the speed!

Henry,
I wouldn`t exactly call it racing. I posted a qualifying place of 19th. We were a couple of guys short of a 32 man bracket due to no-shows like Wesley Tucker and Slappy.
After seeing those two guys placings in thier previous races, I`d probably would`ve advanced into the 16 man bracket if not the 8 man.
I guess we`ll never know????

Ok, this past Friday I had a run in with a car, here's the story.
I was skating in Shadyside, a nice suburb of Pittsburgh after getting some hot chocolate (yes, I know I'm too old for hot chocolate but coffee tastes like crap imho.) I was rolling along on my Bozi at a comfortable pace as there were no pedestrians, however there was a group of Catholic schoolgirls (my age, wearing the uniform) walking along on the other side of the street. Naturally I strike my "I'm cool because I skate to Starbucks" pose and WHAM I hit the front left side of the SUV that just pulled out of the alleyway to my right. I never saw the car coming. I hit my knee hard into the car and rolled over the hood and landed in front of the car. My Grande Hot Chocolate with whipped cream managed to get mostly all over my face and hair, and made a nice splak noise when it landed on me. My board got run over too but suprisingly sustaned absolutely no damage. The driver of the car then proceded to get out and yell at me while simultaneously offering me a napkin (in case I was bleeding... like a napkin would help) anyways no sueing or whatever, I wasn't looking. I got hot chocolate all over his Navigator anyways, the bastard. My knee is less swollen now thanks to my friends Ice and Ibuprofin. As for the catholic schoolgirls, well, let's hope they like dorks.
Oh, did Scabs race in W Va? I never heard anything about it.

I saw Step into Liquid last night. Good look at surfing. Covering Laird on Hydrofoil, Texas surfers catching tanker wake in Galveston Bay, Great Lakes crowd, chicks at cho-poo (hey I’m funetick)… common theme of big stoke, good time. More big stoke good time is all this board needs. There are some great slalom posts. There’s some passion and good energy there. Don’t let a few define it. There are people out there slaloming without cones… let the racers race, it pumps their adrenaline. Let ‘em talk a little trash if they want. Flag the stuff that’s really just venom and move on.
Saw the new forms. Hmmm… many ways to say the same thing. I guess that’s okay. More threads on the same topic. Recreational longboarding for the pure stoke of it. That’s what I like. Stoke at the park or on a hill, with some buds or by myself.
I’m still 3 months out from ACL recovery. Any skating sounds really good. Last night I drove a bunch of my favorite hills in the middle of the night, carving back and forth in the car and telling stories with a friend about rides here and there. I went home and stood on my board in the living room. Drunk enough that I almost fell off several times, and the board wasn’t moving. When do we get the Standing On The Board Drunk in Your Living Room forum? Hey, all kidding aside, I pushed the range of motion in my knee, getting down low grabbing the rails and leaning out off the board, running the hills through my head. It was good fun. AND NONE OF YOU PUNKA$$ RACE FREAKS WANNA GO HEAD TO HEAD PRETEND SKATING DRUNK IN MY LIVING ROOM! I’ll kick some butt. $20 bucks per entry, winner takes all in the great amurkin pose off. Only posers. Like an air guitar deal. Must be drunk or high or both or have doctors excuse stating that you are naturally afflicted. We could do the cyber version with video clips.

Let's see flight to Denver tonight about 380 us doll Hotel Downtown say the Wyndham 140 us a night Golden is off I-70 near the coors plant? I just don't see me making it in time. You just pick some pretty tights and imagine those long soft cones rubbing your chin. Wax is the person I'm looking for. I'll see what I can do but I planned on skateboarding this weekend not putting on a re-enactment of what skateboarders use to do. See you at CORRs. If I was a wiggler we could have shared a room. Stand at the top of the ramp for me and say "I'm the best!, I'm fast!, these guys wish they had an ass like this...I'm Wax!"
