Greetings! Just wanted to give all the "heads up" on the slalom race we had yesterday at West LA college! Yep an actual slaom race with trophys & everything! Some of us even rode slalom boards(mine's a turner), but a big contingent of longboarders turned out to make it through the gates. Good fun was had by all and we all plan on being at the next one on Nov.21st. I'll post the placings in the events area later. Thanks to all who came out to watch & especially the racers!

Look up hardware in the Yellow Pages or what ever color the phone books are in Toronto. Call first ,don't waste your time, and tell them you need 3/8 x24 thread grade 8 hex head (just say regular six sided heads), 2inch for new trucks 2.25 for old school 2.5 for Randle, I get long bolts and cut them down, this makes them virtually unbreakable ,I sell them as such for 3 bucks each and have never seen one break. Buy some low "profile self-locking (nylock) nuts of matching threads ,axle nuts are5/16x 24 and mounting hardware are 10/32x however long you need them.

E8EN,you should check out the "ROLLIN" vid by sector9 which is about 85% longboarding.I'm not sure but I think it came out before "RED9" but is way better.I was lucky enough to get a shop copy from my local shop since they only do new school stuff.Trust me it is way better.Only 30 min. long but worth it.Also check out the "SLIDES" vid by Gravity which came out in 1997.It is worth owning if you haven't allready seen it.Keep rollin, the TAXMAN

i just got the "red 9" vid from sector 9 and frankly im a bit dissapointed. I'd say about 70 percent of the movie was comprised of new school footage, which i dont mind, but personally, i thought i was getting a LONGBOARD video. So, be forewarned! (see if you can borrow it off one of your friends first.) And no disrespect to S9, i love my big stiffy, but the video was dissapointing. keep on rockin in the free world, E8EN

I just got interviewed by KSBW ch8 for their story on the proposed skatepark for Santa Cruz by Neary Lagoon. Obviously I was in favor of it. They got a shot of me carving on my longboard in the Zannotto's parking lot. It will be on the 6:00 news tonight, (Monday).

Well, Doug Dupin and I accomplished a super crazy, but fun, long distance skate adventure from Rockefeller Center in New York City to the Gravity Games in Providence, RI. We started on Sunday and six days and about 180 miles later we were there. Three of us started the trip. Our friend Dylan had to bail on day three. I have nothing but respect for Dylan because he put a lot of effort into the trip and skated until he felt like he was gonna spew. He figured it was better to bail than to drop dead in the middle of the trip. All we had with us was what we could fit in our camping backpacks and our boards under our feet The major bummer of the trip was the fact that the GGames were rained out the day that we got there. Check out Doug's site at www.migrationboards.com to read about his first cross country skating trip and to check out the board he designed. Hopefully he'll write up a story about this most recent adventure we had. Anyone in the Santa Cruz area interested in some long distance skating can e-mail me. I'm hoping to take another trip before the year is over. (a much shorter trip, though) Later all, Peter

Looks like the folks at longskate waited too long. Found a web site at www.solid-surf.com that specializes in longboards and equipment. Ordered a pair of bones bombers, I'll let everone know how their service is. Looks like they operate out of Texas, my old skate stomping grounds. I even have super 8 film of the 70's era park they are named after. Check it out!!

MANU are you out there?????????
I taped the mammoth downhill final off of espn2 and i noticed you had "DIE TRYING" stickers on your helmet. The last time i saw these was when i was on a surf trip in Cabo San Lucas..anyway i liked there gear and designs. Do you know of a web page for them or have a phone # for there offices... i was trying to get ahold of them. If you have any information, it would be appreciated.

RE: Longskate
The folks at Longskate are working hard to get things rolling. I don't work for longskate, but know one of the guys putting it together. My guess is that things should be ready soon. These things take usually double the amount of time you plan!
Cheers
ps next issue of International Longboarder arrives first week of NOVEMBER!

I was just wondering when the longskate.com website is ever going online. They keep giving startup dates, and they have missed every one. This does not give me great confidence to send them my hard-earned money when they finally start up.I'm hoping that this is going to be as great a site as they have predicted.
