LBB,
Although your solicitor says that you have no "legal" chance of getting your board back. Have you considered a well put together and polite letter to your local Police station. It might work!!
alternatively, keep your eyes on the skip often found behind Police stations

Whoa...LBB: where do/did you cruise?...I am NOT going to be visiting your area. The police here in Sheffield just tend to laugh and smile knowingly at us now! Was it the board that you sent in a pic of when you got your new wheels from Lush? Man, if it is that one that they have nicked I will come over and help you storm the doors of the police station! L.Mack-The Dudette: Yeah this is a girl-friendly site...I don't think you will ever see a male rider more stoked than when his girl (or any girl) jumps on a board. I spent the best evening ever teaching my ex to ride...I was so happy watching her carving across the carpark for the first time! As for girls who can already ride...well, my email address is above...what are you waiting for!

I have a dream I like to dream about. This dream is that someday, in early June, I will find myself on Highway 1 right up near Canada. Skating the Pacific Coast Highway and its many side streets, I want to skateboard- longboard- all the way to Mexico.

sheesh, and blah let me pour my heart out, today the police confiscated my board (the vert beast, good job i only had some slammers on it)after riding through the civic centre, my solicitor said i have no recourse to get the board back as it is subject to a local bye law. so no good feelings today, no good soul stories and back to the bank to ask for a bigger overdraft. you know being of a buddhist nature and being positive all the time is often bloody hard. thanks soul carving feel a bit better.

Hodad my bru, i dont want to get into this discussion!! Too many people have different ideas about wave height,it gets confusing. I tend to call a wave waist high(2ft), chest high(4ft), or overhead(6ft) to avoid confusion. Being a long boarder and chaser of all things classic and soulfull(and a surfer lacking in balls!), i would not risk my stick on a wave 6ft hawaiian, cos thats like 12ft to me! we dont get many 12ft clean days in devon! but 6ftclean sounds better than overheadclean, i guess. Anyway, we dont have a label yet, we're doing local gigs in the somerset/devon area and hope to record some stuff properly soon. If anyone wants any email me and we'll hurry it up. Keep gliding guys, summer is so nearly here.

...you all know that feeling - faster than it's ever been before - Peering over the edge of a new run, Valleyview Road, sounds right - half mile straight shot - steep as hell with new asphalt - ok well here we go - first push and - wow this stuff is way to smooth - lets start to carve - hard - it gets to the point where the the 90a's are just not going to hold this turn so - its just a down hill bomb - turning from curb to curb just so that may be these cheap a$$ trucks don't wobble me into serious - at this point I remember chanting the mantra "knees palms and elbows-knees palms and elbows" And then it struck - that undeniable feeling of pure breathless - faster than it's ever been before - we all know it - it really doesn't matter what the MPH was - whether it's Chaput in full leathers on a luge or my 7 year old on her skooter goin' down the neighbors steep driveway - its that feeling of - faster than it's ever been before - I recall there was a moment of " slide baby slide " but no way I was locked - committed - the breathlessness lasted an eternity of a few moments - then CALM - a turning point - a clear and wholely mindfull moment of, " ok, I am back to a place where I have been before" and SLIDE - a massive 40 foot coleman which pendulums and scrapes a little butt (man I shouldn't have worn the jeans with the rivots - what was I thinking?) and STOP....hmmm lets take a look at that again....

good call mark. one of the smoothest posts i've read. i think longboarding captures the soul of the sport in a sort of underground/independent sort of way. the same way you respect the guys who play basketball in the street courts more than the pros you see on TV. because you know they don't do it for money or recognition. they become legends in a different way. they don't show up to show eveyone what they can do, the show because of what the sport does for them. this means, there's no lookin' down on the rookie dude or chic just because they aren't that good. instead you're hyped that they want to experience what you get out of it. i think this element is the most intact in longboarding, not to say that it isn't evident elsewhere. to me longboarding retains in the truest form, this element, this soul.

Yeah, Mark! Amen to that, excelent post! Far as I know, the first snowboards where scratched together from surfing, as we can see from the original name "snurfing" (snow-surfing), as well as from the small skegs in the back of early snowboards. And I agree- in any sport, longboarding's the soul style. Even in snowboarding, you can get a longboard and just fly down the hill. I haven't tried sailboarding, but apparently there's a simielar movement, toward longer, faster boards that aren't suited for large aerial maneuvers.

Surfing on waves was first, that's for certain. Surfers were some of the first people to build boards to roll on streets with, which simulated surfing. But, was it surfers, or skateboarders, who first made boards for the snow? I'm not sure. But other things are fairly clear: Ever since skateboarding evolved - in the mid 1970's - all the other board sports have followed in it's footsteps. In the 1960's, surfing was the basis for skateboarding. Some years ago, that seems to have turned around, with pro surfers now adding aerials and such to their style. Through all of these changes, longboarding (on water and wheels) has faded in popularity and returned again, and now has a sideline of 'technical/performance/trick' aspects attached to it as well. Longboarding also continues it's reign as the soul of the sport, the true artistic expression of communing with the slanted surface, whether it be water or pavement. Ride with pride, soul brothers. Carve your traditions upon the land and sea for the generations to follow.

i gotta agree with cooper. i can't surf, can't skate short decks or even ollie very well, don't really snowboard either. but i CAN tear down a hill carvin' sweet lines and look pretty dang cool doin' it. surf, skate, snowboardin' are in the same family, but i prefer to hang with the soulful brotha, the longboard.

i love long skateboarding. some people say that it is something to do when the surf is flat but that's not true, it has evolved into something else, it's an art form that can stand on it's own now. most people i know who longboard aren't/weren't surfers and got into longboarding because they liked it, not because it's something to do when the surf is flat...
