K-Lee What's Up! Oh yes...love the BC parks..White Rock is insane...nothing beats a solid snake run. Bainbridge Island is the best in WA. State so far.. The ferry ride keeps the crowds down..but it's worth it. Huge pool with hips everywhere...and pool coping..The flow is incredible.. Gotta check it out... go to www.concretedisciples.com

Rusty, Avoid Bellingham WA like the plague, their park is one big concrete joke, I know because I was living there when it was built. But, if you don't mind crossing the border, BC Canada has TONS of longboard friendly parks, the first that come to mind are New Westminster and White Rock.

But nowadays, you could print directions and maps to pipes and empty pools and the only people that would show up would be Reuler and Salba, so I guess it's no big deal to reveal the locations of such ex-top secret spots. Nowadays it's like, "Dude, I heard about this killer school yard. The picnic tables are soooo low and there's waxed ledges everywhere!" Yeah, whatever.

What's Up Pacific Northwest Longboarders! Lots of new parks that are sweet for longboarding. My top 3 in Wa. State (so far) 1. Bainbridge Island 2. Sumner 3. Auburn Several new parks in the works in cities around the Puget Sound. Any other suggestions? Let me know. Always looking for other longboarders to push the limits.

Skatelab is your best bet. Don't bother with emails though, just call them. Talk to Todd.
Northridge is also available but not a nice as Skatelab. It's all street course, vert ramp that needs the screws to be counter sunk, and a miniramp.

Barb,
Northridge Skatepark is available for rental and birthday parties. Large, outdoor wooden park, with street course, mini ramps and a vert ramp. I heard some time ago that they were supposed to put in a bowl, but I don't know if they ever did...

Oops. I should have mentioned that I'm not hardcore--a total vert situation would be a bit much for me at this point. One great big mellow bowl would be my dream. (Though I'd love to be able to manage a real halfpipe some day...) :-)

SoCal Park to rent for birthday party?

Hi all,
I'm trying to find a skatepark that I can actually rent for my 40th birthday party (my husband was planning a typical surprise party and I said Noooooo way; I'd rather spend the day skating!) I realize public skateparks don't do this, but am wondering if there are private parks that do. I read that the SkateLab in Simi Valley does, but they didn't return my emails :-( Maybe they think it's a prank, coming from a almost-40-year-old mom. Anyway, along with learning to Ollie and actually making it to the coping of a pool, my goal before I'm 40 is to spend one entire day skating--at a park, down some groovy La Costa-type hills, etc. My birthday isn't until December, but for once in my life I'd like to plan ahead. Thinking some parks must want to make some money during slow times (school days, etc.) Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance! Barb at www.skateboardmom.com

That's messed up Lenny. Hope your elbow gets better soon. Friggin rollerbladers. They pulled that crap at my local (Hayward, CA) skatepark. Waxed all the coping and even some of the flat!! Of course us real skaters were slipping up all over the place. They piss me off. Stop with the wax already!!!

Al, I feel your pain. I left the skin of my left elbow in a bowl in Lexington, KY because the rollerbladers waxed the side of the bowl. The side of it?!?! I was doing a simple kickturn and it was all she wrote. Oh well the bowl's still fun.

...ok, so it's a little different from the current thread -
It's after work and I'm in the need of a little mini-ramp FLOW - so I shoot down the Jersey Turnpike - and just as a side note - had this cool connection to the feeling like there are thousands of us taking the same ride - anyway - I get to the site - stretch out (old school) and now I am ready to drop in - perhaps a F/S board slide to FEEL things out - but oh no! - stick pops out and I take a serious HIP.
Rollerblader says, "oh yeah, we sprayed the coping with Teflon...heh,heh..."
I say, "excuse me young Grommet, do you mean to tell me you have sprayed said coping with the slickest substance known to humankind?"
Grommet replies, "heh, heh, Yeah, and I think I sprayed to much heh, heh.....?!?"
!*it was everywhere - on the deck - below the coping - Teflon I tell you - Teflon - now THAT is new school................Al

Team Pain did a bang up job putting down the Skatelite on Alan`s vert ramp. Now south florida has a killer place to skate. The place is in a warehouse, has A/C, a designer bathroom with shower, and no hassles of a public skate park.
Hours of operation? Til when evaaaaa... Tunes too load? Turn it up more...
Alan did it right. No kinks and just fast and schmooth...
