hughr and all,
the skate off sounds like fun.
but for any of these wackyboards, i tend to reserve my final judgment on them until i get to see the best riders rip on them, cuz often times they suprise me with their riding skill. (I am still waiting to see the tierney guys bomb, plus the snakeboard downhillers from europe, and also more flowlabers in sf)
even if these boards might be feel horrible under my feet, its always cool to see guys that can rip on it.
hughr, tip on the freebord:
the local guys hate the cheap stock wheels, they are running big 85 krypto and large hockey wheels.
when these guys are running steep hills, they definitely 'look' like they are snowboarding.

Things are coming together for this project... should be a lot of fun! I am really looking forward to this one, especially from the artistic webpage building side.
I have 3 add'l intermediate snowboarders who will be riding all the boards too... one is an experienced kick flipper and the other two are novice skaters (though amazingly quick learners) I'm going to get my big old self out there on these too. I figure this whole thing will probably take 4 to 6 weeks or so to have all these guys comfortable enough on the boards to give some educated opinions.
The flowlabs are no problem for me at all... basically a good fun ride on my hill. I spent some time on the big freebord... that things tough! Steve C gets it going pretty good, but I need some work! I'm fine until it pitches too far sideways... then I get nervous and step off!
Same lack of skill thing with the tierny when I tried it a couple of years age... so I will be putting considerably more effort into that one too.

Hugh,
I got in touch with Kurt Tierney. Expect to hear from the Tboard guys. I've got all three and while I don't know that any of them are that close to snowboarding, IMO the Tbord harder than the flowlab to learn, easier than the freebord, but way more fun than either of them.

Any board submitted that comes with a ppd return shipping label will be shipped back to it's point of origin.
This is not about free stuff for hugh... I personally could care less about which is the better snowboard trainer. I have a flowlab that I don't ride much (it's fun, but not high on my list) I don't have the skill to rip on the tierney's or freebords, so I have little interest in owning either of those (I have ridden both, their just not fun for me, though I would hang them on my wall)
This IS about my sharing some love with my buddy Steve who cares a LOT about this issue and wants to put the whole thing to bed (I guess there are some other posting forums where this is spoken of ad naseum)... and as always this is also about driving traffic to my site!
Soooo... a Skate-off will be held, document, web-a-sized, promoted, hyped, and pimped! A king will be crowned! And there will be no whining!!!!!!!!! HR

At the insistance of my snowboarding buddy Steve Chipman (who happens to be on a quest to find the ultimate dry land snowboard trainer) I have started a page that will chronical his quest as well as crown the "un-disputed King of Snowboard Trainer" skateboards!
There will be no whining from the losers!!
On board so far are:
*Two boards from the Freebord family
*One early Flowlab
and that's it... a pretty poor showing if you ask me!
Since there will be no whining tolerated from any mfg after this contest (like... that's are old model or you didn't give us a chance... or anyother excuse)
I will once again and for the last time extend an invitation to any company who beleives their boards better simulate the snowboard feel and are the better choice as a snowboard trainer, to contact me ASAP to make arrangements for their product to be included in this "skate-off"!

Henry,look carefully at your bolts,and see if the threading seems shiny,or if the threading has a 'slope' to it(like this- 7 vs. this- > ). If you see either of those things,you've got cross-threading or 'stretched' threads.Likewise,the nuts can do this,but it's hard with #10 hardware to see it inside the nut.Start with new nuts.Chances are you're using American #10-32Tpi hardware,but if you're not sure bring bolts+nuts with you to compare the threading/sizes. (Metric M-5 is close enough in size/looks to seem like it's a #10-32,at least until you try fitting the stuff together) You can reshape 'stretched' threading with a Die set,but with this sized bolt,it's probably not worth the time/money/effort. If you're going to be at N.J. staurday to race,let me know what size bolts (in length) you think you want,I'll bring 'em with me.

So I unthreaded the nuts off my harware bolts so I could play around with risers, etc on my ICK. Now when I try to put the trucks on the nuts go on a ways and then don't go any farther. I just can't get the things threaded down to the truck.
HELP!

Just got a set of Bozi's new slide gloves... (no finger leather type)
They appear to be high quality with the slide pads glued securely to the leather gloves.

If you use the SURFCO nose guard on your Yurner, make dure you use the super fine 1600 wet-sandpaper. L also recommend using the sandpaper on another surface to break it in. Like a piece of wood. Then when using it on your Turner, soak the sandpaper in water and LIGHTLY sand. Just enough to haze the finish. Follow the instructions and it should stay until you want to remove it.
If you do decide to remove it, just take a little coumpound finish and apply with bare finger tip and gently buff back to a gloss.
I liked the SURFCO on the Turner fiberglass boards and the door edge guards on the ROEs or ICKs.

My first bid ever and just what my brother said people do is just what happened...someone waited until the last seconds and outbid by $0.16. All I want is a Powell Tailbone for my new deck soon to arrive. It's an Alva 36" and I want a 9" tailskid so I don't shred the tail, but Noooooooooooooooooooo!
I'd order from OldskoolSkates.com but there's a minimum of $25, plus $3 Handling Charge for orders under fifty bucks, plus S&H....all for one Tailbone. It ain't happening!
I'd settle for a used one (hint hint).
