I use the industrial strenghth self adhesive velcro(bought it at Ace hardware) for my slidergloves and so far no puck has ever come off. I guess if I hit something really hard (boss dot or such) it would probably come off. However, I don't think that that would be such a bad thing - It's probably better than my hand coming off...
About gloves: get all leather ones, not the ones that have cloth on top which can be quite problematic for the nuckles if you accidently slide with your palm facing upwards.
Oh, and the UHMW is the sh*t!

There is no plastic with more wear resistance than UHMW. Results by Taber abraser show 100 times better results than PTFE. Don't confuse this with coefficient of friction. The barge board skid plates on formula 1 cars are UHMW, not because it is cheap, but because it is best, at any price.

duane, i'm sure you know something about this. have you had any exsperience using more expsensive materials like delrin and teflon for slider pucks, how do these work, less wear then UHMW......btw, mcmastercarr referes to UHMW as " a poor mans teflon"

These "gloves" ae one of the best things creatd thinking on the sport,
u can detach the puck when u need to grab anything, and the best thing its that u can use them with the gloves of ur choice or with wrist guards,

Yea..
I've got some gloves at Purple Skunk (SF) If you've seen them, what are your impressions? What could I do to make them better? I've thought about changing out the gloves to something more industrial or breathable but won't lose the fingers. I think they are very important for safety. Also keep in mind the gloves are replaceable and quite easy to do so. They are usually the first piece to go. I've gone tru two pairs of gloves for one set of pucks. Usually the fingers and cuffs burn thru first.

What David says is right on, if you just go get cutting boards you will likely end up with high density polyethylene which has been molded. That is NOT UHMWPE, the wear rates are different by ten times. The Mcmaster stuff is good, especially the stuff that is bonded to a thin layer of rubber. The rubber adds a bit of shock absorbtion, but even better, the rubber holds the Velcro like gangbusters. My Velcro used to fall off the pucks all the time, while sticking perfectly to the gloves. With the rubber coated stuff this is eliminated, and you can get good-looking black.

I like those gloves , 3 pairs where given to me by Stef ANDRE the creator of SUPAFLEX skateboards and the designer of those gloves. And as said Goad, if you glue new bigger pads over the original ones, you'll get the best sliding gloves of the world.

I like mine a lot, no problems at all. When the pads are gone just glue new ones on. The full finger is good for me becouse I put my hole hand down, not just my palm. hc, tell us why you think these gloves suck. Maybe you know something I dont. What I think sucks is when someone slams something and does not give a resone for there dislike of it. I had my Eulora gloves for over a year.

hc, i would disagree with you, i think velcro is'nt the best way to attach UHMW to gloves. i think you were there when my slider pucks got ripped off on old tunnel road. or after you fall and get back up, then try to put your hand down and realize you have no slider puck, thats no fun. your friend justin ice makes some nice gloves, with a wooden back and screwed in, they can still be replacable, but if you get the highest quality UHMW, the sliders will last for years, even on rough pavement.
one note, i was at a leather shop a few weeks ago in SF(johnson leathers) looking at pants, and I started talking with the owner about speedboarding, he gave me some industrial strength velco, he said is the same stuff they use to attach knee pucks onto motorcylce racing suits, real strong stuff..
anyways, thats my ramble on slider gloves
ps, nicky or anybody else, if you want the best possible UHMW polyethelene, stuff that will last for years, go to www.mcmastercarr.com type in UHMW in the search and get the premiuim grade, that stuff rocks, thats what i have and i have abused it with alot of slides with barely noticable amount of wear. its amazing the different between regular UHMW, which won't even last one slide session, and the high quality stuff.

i have never bought sliding gloves, i make them for myself and others. I like the velcro attachment method the best, pads can be movable and replaceble.
glad to hear there is a demand for them.
whatever you do, don't get those eulora gloves. they suck..

I have as yet not been able to track any down and my own wrist guards are looking pretty shabby.

Not sure that these are going to go into full production or not... I would imagine that the production minimums required to get a decent per unit cost might be in numbers that would be more than expected sales.
I am planning on using this one as a rear luge light, mounted on top... but now that you mention mounting to an RIV, I'll be doing that one too... got an 11 ply on the way that will just be screaming for all the cool stuff!
The light thrown by these is similar to that of the smaller risers... not enough for a real headlight, but looks great and is visable from many hundreds of feet away. Good from the safety angle of things.
Once I get it mounted up, I'll do some more testing on it and will post that up.
Shoot an email to the flux guys... they may be able to hook up a small run of these... HR

Hugh,
When are those going into production, and for how much as well? How long does the battery last on that sort of setup too?
I can sense that these may find a home on my RIV. Not as a riser on the bottom, but as a riser on the top. That way its sort of like head lights on top of the board, eh?
Any ideas about this? Should work as a pretty nice lighting system for the RIV boards.

Wakeskate is very fun...but first you got to know how to stand-up on a wakeboard...because it's harder on wakeskate (no strings attached!)
but it gives a really good feeling,you're not strapped on your board so you can try some funky movements...it's nice!
for the moment water is too cold in here (Marseille south of france)
the bad thing is that your shoes (i got Dc's ones for the job) will not last longer than a month...

I really like the Van's waffle soled shoes. The Rowley XLT is light, grippy, and fits my narrow feet really well. The plain/classic Rowley is a little wide for me, but it's the minimal padding/cushioning is the biggest drawback for me. The TNT shoe is sort of a beefier version of the classic Rowley. It's definitely got more padding than the classic Rowley, but it feels more stable than the XLT. It's also more durable than either of them.

I also have some dogtown classics.. which don't last long for skating.
