Hi Karen, try the skate school at Lush Longboards. My wife used it to get her started and there are loads of tips etc. Also go to Silverfish Longboarding and use the search facility, there is loads of useful stuff underneath the stacks of "What is the best deck for sliding" posts.

Good luck

hi,please could you tell me if you have a book out on longboarding and sliding as i need a bit of the basics advise (ie stopping ???)as i have never done longboarding before.i,ve tried going on sites to find out. but all the sites assume you already know what your doing and explain all these bad ass tricks. it would be nice to get a book/video on things like stopping and general board control.set up ,maintenace, how diffrent ajustments to trucks do diffrent things. thanks for your time karen

Information for those of you who are posting questions.
Nick,
My e-mail is not working at the moment. I will get a new address when back oin the States. Get in touch with me here at my page in the mean time. I need to know where you plan to go and where you are flying into when you get here. I think you need to go to Florionopolis in the State of Santa Catarina in the South! There are skaters there, but it is a great place for beaches, girls, food and is much cheaper than in the UK. I still am going to Rio and a few other areas. I will let you know about them after I see them.
About my deck, it is 36" by about 9". The wheel base is 18.5". It has a slight concave that keeps my feet where I want them. The tail and nose are about 6". I think these dimensions are correct, but it is all from memory at the moment. This deck is a longer version of what I had made for me at Powell/Peralta in the early 80s. Tony Hawk also chose to use it as his last Pro model at PP Skates, before starting his own company later. He should autograph one for me! You don´t have to rotate wheels to get the most use from them. If like myself, you ride your trucks about the same adjustment of tighteness, then just rotate the deck to even out the wheel wear.
To be fair, all vendor questions will be answered at the "Vendors Page", in the future. Adam, if you need to move this post because of the vendor questions I answered from this page then please do so. Thanks!
I have only been here in Brazil a week. I went to the "Qix World Streetstyle Chamionships", in Porto Allegre. The skaters are too much! Great in all styles. I also got to meet them all. What a family of skating around the planet! I hung out with the 1st place and second place winners at the recent Downhill in Rio. I watched guys Foot-plant a vertical building wall, about 6´ above the top of a ramp, and the guy can then finger flip the deck on the way back down!!! The greats from all over Brazil were there. Each day, Ramon, the owner of Qix, had fruit, drinks, and out door seating and tables with a canopy. He supplied beer free for the contest, staff, friends etc, only after the days events had concluded. About 100 kegs for the event I would guess. He had barbequed on a huge spit over fire, Poek, Chicken, and Beef.
More later, Cliff, "Traveling Man"

F,
I don't know the specs for sure, but by looking at the dimensions of the image compared to the drilling I'd guestimate 36"x10" with a wheelbase of 19.5".
I really like the symmetric shape and square ends, now if only we could see it in profile to get an idea of the angle of kick and depth of camber :)

Cliff, So what is it like? Tell us all about it;Weather, roads, up-and-comming rippers, new slides? What kind of food do skaters eat down there? Run into Tony on the hill? Is it true, dose the toilet really spin the other way when you flush it? Awesome Cliff-Slider skateboard! Everything is fine in the Berkeley/bay area, it/we will be here when you get back.

Brazil is awesome! The Women are even better!!! Florionopolis in the South has beautiful beaches, good surf and many parties at night. The weather for those of you in cold climates is 22c at midnight and in the low 30s in the day time. I am off to the Qix World Street Style Championships with Sergio later today.
Life is good!
For those of you who would like to visit Faltown this Summer, I think July would be the best weather wise. I will talk to the crew there and see what we can set up?

Wow, I am just shocked at this guy Fubreeze "the air smell better" downhill slider. Dude who are you, ay!? Squirrley is way better than you! Ooooh, Concrete Wave Magazine, you must feel like the "Luke Duke of Roller Boarding." You should make up your own reality show so the whole world can see how mean of a person you are. Ay, Squirrley, dont give this poser the time of day- mad props to you man and mad props to Cliff Coleman. I agree with Squirrley, SlideFest was full of posers, especially Fubreeze. Can ANYONE tell me- HOW DID THAT FUBREEZE WIN. HE ISNT REALLY THAT GOOD!

what up boys , jus wanted to leave a quick post and say whats up to Cliff and thank him for rocking the stylee slides that inspired me to get into this tomfoolery...... I live in CT and skate every day its dry(winter sucks and that coming from a snow bro says a lot).......any way Yo F dont let that dipsh#t ruffel your feathers.....What he dose not realize is there is no room for egos and attitudes in a niche sport......... you cant insult the people who are supposed to come to your events and buy your products.... I dig the vibe and community you guys are creating KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!! I, like F was never a 15 year old skate punk who kick fliped down stairs(not that i dont dig that aspect of skating), i got into skating after i was old enough to buy lottery tickets and refer to what we do as "grown folks skateboarding" .........any way i cant wait to get to some of the events you guys go to and compete in..........if anyone is in CT or just passing through this spring drop me a line and we can shred my local hills
