hey scotty w. i have been skating clayton for about 5 or so years. my friends and i have been skating crystal ranch since it has been developed. we also hit oakhurst and peacock creek, and arbolado in wc along with any other hills we can find. i think we have hit all the good spots in contra costa and we have ventured into berkeley once and places in the fremont area. oaskhurst was sort of our home turf. it's real close and has something for everyone. i am back home for the weekend and i saw some slide marks on ambleside. pretty cool, seeing that i used to know all the longboarders in clayton, but since we've all left for college i guess there's new longboarders now. we used to be the only ones. email me sometime if you want to hit some hills or have any questions. i won't be here this summer but i love skating when i come home to visit the family.

thanks henry, I'll definately check those out. I live right next to canoga so maybe I'll go check that out later on today.

we went out yesterday and found tons of hills to ride, this is the perfect sport for someone that lives in a valley, hills on all sides.

Hi Will. There's a few spots you may want to check out in your area. Sepulveda High School has smooth concrete banks. Haven't been there in a while, but I think it's still happening. Canoga High School was one of my favorite valley spots. This place has asphalt banks. Just recently I got to see a ditch as i was passing by the DeSoto/118 exit. It's on the south side of the exit. Chatworth basin has a few little banks. Then there's the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area. This is where they filmed Escape From New York. It's a HUGE concrete bank w/ a HUGE transition. Finally, there's the Sylmar Detention Basin right off of where the I-405 meets the I-5 on the west side of the freeway on the way to Magic Mountain. This is where the L.A. water supply comes from. Huge 2 sided ditch, some 12' full pipes too. Only problem is that it's a security area so you're going to have to do a "commando" style mission to skate it. Stake it out, find an entry & extraction/escape route, it's worth it. Anyways, these are just some of the spots I can think of immediately. Let me know how the hunt goes /;~)henry

Montreal - Tremblant
On 5/24/2002 shmizer wrote in from (65.94.nnn.nnn)

If you want light traffic and your in Montreal, get on a bus to Tremblant. The pavement is all new up there because all the snot-bags complain about driving their eddie bauer 4x4s through the potholes everyone knows Montreal has got lots of.

The runs around the golf course and the ski-hill condos are fast, tight and you won't get distracted like you do staring at all the hotties walking around downtwon montreal.

GMR is the ONLY road to bomb if your a serious downhill enthusiast. From the top an average ride last about 10 minutes reaching speeds of 50+mph. Niteriding adds for an extra thrill, allowing you to see the headlights of oncoming cars, not to mention a beautiful view of all the twinkling lights of LA. I always see people cruzing down on skateboards, sit-up luges, and occasionally a razor. Just watch out for rice burner races!

Well after finally getting to skate this legendary spot, it is just amazing. So fun, so smooth, so nice. Plus, you will never guess who i saw there today. . .I didn't believe it myself at first, but it turned out the scraggly guy ripping the courts was Tony Alva. . .Thee Tony Alva. Man, me and my friend almost dun up and s#@! a brick right there once we realized who he was. And he was just there with his girlfriend skating by himself. Man it was so cool to be skating with the guy who basically showed everyone else how skating was done back in the day. That was so cool. Definetely going back there soon to carve up another session.

HELP! I'm trying to locate some bodies who rode the legendary Nude Bowl.
(I know this is a downhill site, but somebody's got to know someone from round there.)
If anybody can put me in touch with people who rode there, drank there, or even shot the place up, I would be very grateful.

Edouard Montpetit metro - Avenue Du Parc
On 5/11/2002 Jim wrote in from (65.94.nnn.nnn)

I know some good sections on Mont royal that have light traffic and really good lines. I found a new one today, I skated to the tam tam park from edward monpetite metro station, what an awsome run, you stay high on the mountian (kinda flat) then drop this maybe 1km downhill that is maybe 55km/h straightline. Beautiful pavement, traffic was light. Wide road if you want to carve it up. It just starts to get a little messy at the bottom where Boulevard Mont Royal meets Parc. It was a nice treat because I wasn't expecting anything on my way home today.

Pierre, last night, when you left the cemetery run, i got busted by the cops while pulling a backside switch next to Mc Donalds.

Paper, questions...Bag check. Ya know what i mean? Marryan was with me that night.

Emptyed all my pockets except that one.

"Thank you young men, but dont do it again."

You missed it all. They followed me for a few minutes and then followed Sim and Den, which where hiding from them in a car.

Pfffff. Close one.

And, oh. Je me suis plante aujourdhui. Pas pire. Hehe. Pas grave. Mais la glisse is getting better. So its worth it.

Mauricio! Get in touch with me. I ride most of the nights.

Drop a mail.

Hey Pierre,

Are you from Montreal? I'll be in Montreal for a couple of months and I'd like to find some good hills for carving/sliding. Mont Royal looks pretty nice but I don't know if it's ok to ride there. Cops? Any rules???
Any other places? I'm in downtown area.
Anyway, thanks!

I know this will sound pretty but is there any good places to ride in or around the Toledo Ohio area? What about across the border in southern Michigan? I am going to be moving to the area and am looking to tackle some hills, both paved and unpaved.

Thanks

On 5/9/2002 Jim wrote in from (65.94.nnn.nnn)

Pierre,

There is a contest on Saturday (ramp rage) so I'll be at that all day. Sunday maybe? I doubt I'll make it before 2 tho, there is usually some kind of event after that makes you not want to get up the next morning. I've never slalomed in my life, I've tried to pump but the decks I ride just don't seem to do it (speed boards w/ randel downhills). Still, sounds like fun and I'll probably get hooked. Do I have to wear knee high socks and gym shorts to slalom? How about my high jump bar and banana board, should I bring them too?

Also, I'm a friend of Jody's (aka. Shnitzel), but I don't think we've ever met before.

Jim
