Almaden area of San Jose, CA

If you're ever in San Jose and have got nothing to do, then come out to the suburb on the hill, known as Almaden. The neighborhood where I live is blessed with many hills of varying sizes, steepness, and curvature. There are crazy-steep hills and nice, long shallow ones. Some with lotsa curve and a few that are straight. This area is in the area between Meridian, Redmond, Camden, and Coleman. There's a lot of area to explore, so you might want to bring a board you're comfortable kicking or hauling. Also, if you go to another area of Almaden, by the country club, there's a large assortment of insanely steep narrow curved streets. Just go down Meridian until the south end where it turns into Leland Park and keep going. Cruise around, discovering the good hills is half the fun.

Aw man me and one of my boys just found a BADDDAZZZZZ hill. Now there are about four sections that churchill is divided into by major streets. Today we just found a hidden section along with a whole nother neighborhood. Churchill has had all of it's sections repaved. Allso if your ever in Raleigh NC be sure to kick it on Wade Av. around 3am. It aint the best hills but there's four lanes of carving just waiting to be ridden, just watch out for the crazy ass 250lb rotweiler at the top. If you'er every gonna be in Raleigh just write here in locations and we can hook up.

Signal Hill has many MAJOR runs other than the infamous Shell Hill (Hill St.) These include snake hill with a grade of better than 25%. Cherry Ave., Temple Ave (South side Shell), and a slew of other hills. To my knowledge more than a dozen people have lost their lives on these hills while skating. But the bottom line is if you know what your REALLY doing, it's as safe as you make it.

Montclair area hills

Another good e-bay site for skating...
Montclair hills!!!
Take highway 24 to 13 and get off 13 at 'thornhill rd' follow signs to thornhill, take thornhill to the top the following streets are excellent rides and easily accessible from the top of thornhill;
Thornhill (duh?!) Snake Colton
these roads epitomize e-bay neighborhood skating... the roads are very windy and narrow, there are parked cars and little kids and dogs running around, etc. One time I was shooting down thornhill when the fire truck came up the street!!! it took up about a lane and a half!!! In other words, if you can't regulate your speed...
Also, if you continue along Skyline blvd to the right from the top of thornhill, there are several other streets of infamy
Carisbrook>chelton ascot Cast le>mountaingate
These roads are mostly if not entirely downhill from Skyline blvd. again do not attempt these roads without some means of stopping
email me, lets skate

This is the only true highway which i've bombed. It's a 1.2 mile four lane hill which me and my bros would check out late at night. My homeboys Ino & Sancho (from the sublime posse) would drive the moving vans down right behind me. The only problem is this hill kinda lulls right into a top speed of 58 mph. The grade is no greater than 13%.

Hey Kiddies... I was down in the desert and found a decent place. It is not really a hill as much as a cement drainage thing right behind Palm Desert High School. It is pretty cool, kind of like a half pipe without the steepness of the walls (the banks are about 30 degrees). The transition was nice and mellow too. It was pretty fun, especially with the exkates, you could turn really sharp and work it. Anyway, there looked like there was lots of these cement drainage things on all the roads that crossed the wash. It is worth checking out if you are out there, but for god's sake don't make a special trip. Ok, later late.

Painted Cave Road in Santa Barbara, right off of highway 154 is an incredible road to skate on. It's not too busy, the road is perfect, and there's plenty of turns to keep you on your toes. Anyone in the SB area drop me a line and we'll go bomb it! -phil

Grizzly-Claremont blvd.

This is not one for the uninitiated.
In the Oakland-Berkeley hills, take highway 24, get off at Fish Ranch rd. take fish ranch up to Grizzly and make a right at the top. (directly in front of you is Claremont which is the 2nd half of the run) take grizzly to the parking lots for the stables (park) skate
the skate from the stables area to the 4 way intersection is a warm up, max speed ~20-25 mph, for Claremont. It is feasible to shoot the whole top part.
The Claremont section is the true jewel of this ride. Claremont was just re paved this summer and is perfectly smooth. Do not attempt this run without some ability to slow down (ie, stand up slides, 'Cliff'-slides, etc) Speeds of 35 mph and even higher (per equipment) are possible. there is sort of a run out but the bottom of claremont hasn't been paved and is long and dumps you out on a busy intersection. Again, do not attempt this section without some means of stopping...
Email me and I'll meet you there...
sk8 safe...

This road is about 2miles long and for about 3/4 of a mile it is all downhill at about a 45 degree angle. I have only done it once and that was early Christmas morning because noone was on the road then. This has to be the fastest I have ever gone. I don't know exactly but I was probably going around 50mph. I would only recomend this to people who aren't afraid of going fast. I would encourage anyone who wants to go for it go for it. This road is located in Auburn California and you should get on Mt.Vernon from Nevada St. because thats where the hill starts.

Maidu drive is in Auburn, California, which is 34 miles north east of Sacramento. These hills are so fast it's not even funny. My friend and I did these hills with our other friend along side of us, and we got up to 45mph on our Randals with no problem. So if your in the ned for speed go to Maidu.

Greer is pretty cool. It is not the greatest for really long boards, but I have ridden my Cloud 9 there no problem. As for skate punks, they are pretty cool. If you are there and have a board, people are cool. As far as coming down just for that park....That is a tough call. Derby park in Santa Cruz is better for longboards, but not as big. There is a link from "Nose Wheelie" that has some pictures of Greer. I still want to take my other board with the exkates to Greer, it could be fun. E-mail me if you make it down here, and maby we could ride. Later late.

I live in Berkeley and wanted to check out Greer Park in Palo Alto. What is it like? Is it a good spot for longboards or is it dominated by freestyle skate punks? I would appreciate any response about this skate park or any other skate parks in the vicinity. Thanks

Sebastopol is loaded with smaller hilly roads, and many are re-paved now! You can find "S"-turns, quick drops, and slow rollers with little traffic.
