Rob, i suggest you go to Michael Brooke's website skategeezer:
http://www.interlog.com/~mbrooke/skategeezer.html
And email him.

I'm pretty sure he lives in Toronto and he is the founder / publisher
of International longboarder magazine, he should be able to help you in To. Have fun!

I just ordered my first longboard (LY Chief, Randal, Kryptonics 76mm) and am looking for people and riding locations in Toronto. Being new to the sport I would like to hook up with people for advice as well to carve with. Anyone or any groups in Toronto - would love to hear about them. Also would like to know any good locations to learn and excel my skills.

Thanks

Rob

I got to ride a FibreFlex 38" pintail this past weekend, and I absolutely loved it! I'm 220+ and it was very flexy, but not too much so, for me. At 155 it should be a pretty lively, snappy flex for you. Randalls and Flashbacks would be the perfect setup. It's a deep carving, cruising machine. If that's what you're after, you'll love it!

santa barbara ca
On 6/24/2002 dave f wrote in from (4.47.nnn.nnn)

I recently moved to santa barbara (from chicago) I'm 36 and started skating c.'75 (when i inherited two 60's clay wheel models.) went thru the whole Fibreflex/PowerPaws/YoYo's/Tracker era...stayed with it thru about '82. Glad I found this site! It's just too nice to live here and NOT get a longboard. I'm veering towards purchasing a Fibreflex Pintail (38" probably) with Randal 150s and Abec 11 Flashbacks. (I'm 5'11"/155#) Does that sound about right for me? Where do you guys recommend purchasing from? I've stopped in a few shops in town and they have very limited longboard selections. Looking forward to carving these hills, anyone in the area, give me a holler. djf1965@hotmail.com

ICE...there's um, skatepark of tampa which i've heard is
longboarder friendly but haven't been there...at MLK behind
the Bucs stadium is a mall that died with a BIG parking lot
and little security ( from what i've seen anyway )...and
there's a small free park in downtown tampa off of Ashley...

Old Bosley
On 6/15/2002 Mick wrote in from (68.33.nnn.nnn)

Hey GBJ,
Ya!!!! that is the part that is closed off .the bottom of the road. It is prob the best hill i have ever ridden i have ridden hills that are steeper but this hill is awesome. there is enough space at the bottom that you can carve out you speed or pull a slide. the surface is new so if you want to do slide it is perfect. You should check it out if you get the chance.

Yo, Mick! What part of Old Bosley is closed? The oldest part that runs through the woods down from Pot Spring Rd. to Dulaney Valley??? If I remember correctly, that road is "balls to the wall", with significant grade, no shoulders, big drop offs on the other side of guardrails, and the emergent need to come to a screeching halt before whipping out and across Dulaney Valley Rd, ,over the guardrail and down into the woods! If that's the section you're talking about, I'm stoked. I used to stick my cab in neutral and coast that hill imagining I was skating.

andy i usually battle with my buddy we go 2 the top in the truck and one gets out and goes in front of the car
it takes care of your back
if your buddy could pace the car good you get a rough speedometer
if u never been on any steep and/or long hills make sure you have some speed specific trucks (randals or zrolller i use) or youll get insane wobbles at like 30mph and on
i say if u cant handle the oncoming stick 2 the bunny slopes bra
it can be a dangerous sport

Mick, go to www.gravityboard.com and go to the "Gravity Video Center". There is a sweet video from Landsdowne and also a video of this guy getting towed all around Baltimore city. Go to where it says "Choose Latest Video Clip Here" to find these.

Traflagler Colorado Springs
On 6/7/2002 Cody wrote in from (198.81.nnn.nnn)

This street isgnarly for just people that love to cruise and still get bunch os speed.and it has extra room for more speed fr peope tht are crazy like myself.there is an extra street that is huge and has gnarly driveways that gives you speed upto 15 mph then it connects to traflagler and that gets you upto 40-45 mph. It has a littl turn that you can't notice wehen youare riding. When you look at it from the bottom it starts off steep and then gets flat at the turn then ges steeper and finnaly falttens out and gives you room to carve out the speed you have built up.
