I'm heading up to southern Oregon(Ashland area, looks like there are soem great hills around there!) around August 12 and then on up to central Oregon(Black Butte Ranch, Sisters, Bend area) a week later. Anyone from around there wanna point out some good hills to skate in those areas?

It would be nice to find out who helped to shut it down.

I'd be willing to put a short history of Revere video together for the purpose of informing the admin. but seeing video of people skating it, no matter how cool or mellow they are, may not help matters. Getting a bunch of moronic letters telling them how uncool they are won't help either. Anyone who goes there and has dealing with the security or admin. need to act like adults and be cool to them. I wish I would have shot some video of us sweeping the whole playground and banks, and picking up trash at our last big sessions. The soccer moms that use the upper field never keep the place as clean as we did.

It would be nice to try to get the banks labled as some kind of historic landmark. What Pipeline/Malibu Point are to surfing, Revere is too skateboarding.

Revere
On 7/15/2002 Dominik wrote in from (4.46.nnn.nnn)

REVERE MUST NOT DIE!

Those latest posts about Revere are troubling; according to California law, skateboarders are pedestrians, so what gives anybody the right to kick pedestrians out of public grounds?
However, rather than suing the Clandestine California Committee for the Prohibition of Skateboarding, how about getting a lot of signatures on a friendly letter to those administrators,
and maybe getting the media involved?
It's hard to believe that while Dogtown & Z-Boys is still playing,
they are trying to shut down this hallowed ground of skateboarding.
Maybe someone (like Stacy Peralta?) has the right media connections to get the
political ball rolling?
I'd love to get some input on this idea.

Undercover cops! Don't they have criminals to catch?

Well, I went to the hill to ride Saturday. After careful consideration it was obvious a few pics were in order. This is at the base of the grade looking up. From this point to the top where there is a small curve is 4/10ths of a mile.

From the top of the hill looking down the grade is a little more apparent. As can be seen on the left, the interstate is graded much more shallow. The frontage road is steeper and follows the natural grade of the hill.

I spent about two hours running some cones. Although traffic is almost non-existent before the fall, I didn't want to take any chances. I kept the GS mostly in one lane. The Avalons on my full nose took the course with ease. It was a bit hairy warming up, but after a while I remembered what it takes to run a big hill on a fast board!

Again, anyone can ride at any time. The only obstacle is the hunt club at the top of the hill. The deer and turkey hunters in the fall come and go right regularly, so setting cones can be a challenge. Downhilling, though, is more than welcome year round. As is typical around here, (the hill is two hours inland from me,) there is no snow, few freezing days and rain is intermittant. Heat, of course, is always available. Also, as you can see from the location, is it really in the middle of nowhere. Take your own water and don't expect a convenience story just around the corner. The closest store is five miles back up the interstate.

I have Flashbacks on my FibreFlex 42" Cutaway, I am running 84a front and 78a rear, but I am using it for slalom. Either one would work for you, depending on how rough the roads you will be riding on are. Both are fast as stink and grippy to boot...why not get a set of each and play around to see which works best for you?

Bonjour à tous.
So, we think to move to USA New York city we're wondering were it was possible to ride.
We use to practice freestyle downhill through the south of france.
I don't no if you hear about our roads ?
Actually I wonder if an american might know the ride of la route des crètes just at the north of Marseille city or the road of le col du limouche (10%) but I'm sure that we wanna ride in US.
So if you know the best place we can enjoy sliding and go fast (around 35 mph) we re opened, and we are waitinf for your answer.
It's 23:10 the night is no finished at all.
Ride with pride and supaflex²

thanks willie leon and chuck...met up with Henry in I.V. he let me try out a few of his longboards. I was leaning toward a 38" pintail, but now i'm not so sure; I think i will want a kicktail. Henry's lending me a Bones Stealth which i should put some Indy's on and harder wheels for the cement skatepark down at the beach. It looks like fun out there. An old friend from Chicago may send me an old pair of Indy 169's(?) but need to decide on wheels...suggestions welcome.
As far as a cruiser I like the look and feel of the Surf One "Woody" it's 39" multi-ply with a warptail kick, which i like a lot. The Fibreflex 38" kicktail is nice, but i don't like that steep kicktail. what hardness of Flashbacks do you guys prefer (for soul carving and general street use)...there are some pretty nice hilly/smooth roads here, but they vary. I was thinking 78a or 84a...and definitely the randal II 150mm...
cheers, dave f

I am looking for longboard and slalom riders in the Toledo and Ann Arbor areas. I am new to the area and primarily looking to find like minded riders to get together and run some cones and bomb some hills. If anyone is interested or knows of any good spots drop me an e-mail and we can arrange a get together.

Thanks,

Whatup guys,
I was wondering if anyone knew of any long runs in this area. I'm from Berkeley, and if anyone wants to know about a dope run up there its a 2.5 mile one with a hell of a view (All of SF, Berkeley, Oakland, Bay Bridge, Angel Island, Alcatraz, Golden Gate) just drop me a line. Lastly, I know its probably been asked, but I've never done a coleman (right name?) slide and would love a few tips or suggestions. Giving me approximate speeds for these turns would be helpful. I've gone 35 at my fastest once, fallen a couple of times at 30, but don't get a lot of speed these days with the lame hills at school. Thanks for any help and ride on.
peace

Provo Canyon
On 7/9/2002 ER wrote in from (66.19.nnn.nnn)

Took a trip earlier this summer to Utah to hang out with my Sis and Bro-in-law, brought my gloves and 42" (in a snowboard bag with shoes, helmet, and laundry). Every day when my bro-in-law would get home from work my sis would run us up the canyon. Provo Canyon has a two lane bike path that follows the river that is smooth and perfect for soul carving. The white lines down the middle are perfectly spaced to slalom (with R2's). You have two options a 4 mile run from Bridal Falls or a 7 mile run from Vivian Park. The 4 mile run gives you a 20 min run if you cruise and slalom and carve the whole way (12mph ave) or about 15 mins if you tuck here and there (16mph ave). I know this sounds slow but this is the average speed we measured using a GPS, basically you cruise for about 2 mins (no kicking) enjoying the scenery (beautiful!) then come into a nice little fast section where a tuck will earn you 25+ about the time your legs get tired of tucking you're back into a nice cruise. If you go the 7 mile route there's some kicking involved but the bottom (last 3/4) of a mile opens up into a wide smooth steep section where we measured 35mph on the GPS carving, I was to chicken to tuck on this because I didn't know the road and there's a GATE at the bottom, my bro coffins the gate on his big worm I pulled a coleman when I saw the gate. Once through the gate you're at the parking lot for bridal falls where the 4 mile run starts. Sure there are guys that ride pipe line on long boards but most long boarders want a LONG ride on a SWEET wave, this is a LONG SWEET RIDE! Highly recommended! A final VERY imporant tip, in the morning the wind blows down the canyon (much faster!) in the evening it blows up the canyon (slower, if it's blowing too much don't bother). Definitly try the 4 mile run, did this for 2 weeks, VERY therapeutic, and improved my skating back home...

under cover cops with bullet proof vests kicked
me and my wife out plus a guy and his 8 year old daughter
on roller blades got booted.

The security said ask Mr. Copper at the school. He is
NOT to blame but he can change the rules according to
security. Some punkass threatened an administrator.

Yeah, I heard about "them" putting up =no skateboarding= signs at Revere. It sure is a shame that one of the most "Revered" of all skate spots is now legally off limits to skating. I skated there a few weeks ago and the vibe was mellow & cool, old timers (like me), their kids and kids friends, just cruisin'and slashin' the banks, freestylin'and carvin' the courts, and just having a blast. Hopefully the admin. will come to their senses and re-open the grounds so we can all live (and skate) happily ever after.

If anybody would be willing to share their knowledge of the area (sweet hills, ditch stuff or any cool terrain or info), I'd really appreciate it!

Man did I have some fun today. Went look for more buttboard hills near this sick and twisty one out in the middle of the state. We stumbled across a hill by accident. It was sitting right there the whole time, right off the higway. We were just gonna ride it back to the bottom and go look for some other stuff, but it turned out to be 1.6 miles of awesome good time!

A few bends and 4 or 5 different sections, and not that much traffic. Most of it was in the 50's and it topped out for us at about 57 mph. But I'm sure there are a few more mph worth of speed in it.

What a great time!!
