I'm looking for some people's favorite mountain roads across the country for a magazine article. I know the Sierras well from end to end, so east coast and elsewhere are more important. Requirements are 3 miles or more, 1000' of vertical drop or greater, five percent minimum grade, really good pavement, and not so high profile as to be impractical (though if full moon is the only way and it's worth it, let me know).

Damn fine tarmac, (Brand new surface) and great location, backs onto disused chinese-clay pit. Killigrew Street produces a small hazard as it is a main road but post a lookout at the intersection and you can top 50 mph quite safely

You can get ticketed for riding at UCSC but I have yet to see the cops give someone a ticket. Anyway, there are some prime spots to bomb and carve as well as some great packed dirt trails for the XT wheels.

Hey Lono, I just talked to a shortboarder who was at Derby. He was at Salinis a couple of weeks ago. He said it is real mellow and looks great for a longboard. I guess there are some real mellow bowls. He also said there was nobody there and they did not care if you wore pads or not. Only a half an hour from Aptos.... Sunday maybe?

Great for what Florida has to offer. Long slopes, sharp drops near the hospital, but unfortunately no cool people to skate with. Fucking frat boys think $180 Nikes are skate shoes and longboards are a prop to be cool with. Traffic is dangerous as shit with all the sorority bitches in their Hondas. I'm not bitter. I need to hurry up and graduate.

Daz and I (Alex) used to skate at circular quay most days when we were on our way home on the ferry to Manly, a cool place, but yeah youd have to watch out for the cops and stuff, haven't done that for a while though. hat sort of board do you ride? Have fun rides. Manly is a pretty cool place at night, the streets are a cool smooth ride. Alex and Daz

Some of the best hills in So. Cal would have to be in the San Gabriel valley. For example,Arcadia has the Mountain road Chantry which turns into Santa Anita with excess speeds of up to 45-55 mph if tucked correctly. Santa Anita is a steep 3/4 mile long street with the occasional stop sign here or there. But it is really no problem when my buddies and I skate at 12-1:30 a.m. Its all about night time bombing sessions . If anyone resides in the area and believes that they are down to skate, an email would be "BOMB"
by the way, if you don't own or have access to any safety gear, think again.
May Buddha smile upon all your skate sessions.

Not a boarder myself, but have some visitors coming from out of town, and they want to find areas to ride. I asked around and heard that the area @ Pier 7 has been made inaccessable, but there is a place across the bay over in Alameda at the old naval shipyard? Anybody know anything more about this? Thanks for the help.

Last weekend I took my board down the beginning of golden gate park. I had just gotten new trucks and bearings and let me tell you I was going at least 35mph. If anybody wants to know where this is it is near ocean beach on the side of the gas station where you enter the park. Just follow that road up to the top till it flattens out then get some speed and head down. It is a rush that lasts about 40-45 seconds but it is worth it. I had done this before but with my other bearings but this time I went way faster, could not believe it.

There's no point in being specific with the spots cause none of you'd know where the hell I'm talkin about. If your comin to the area or if you live around here email my ass and will skate.
