DT...You can use your secret weapon on the hill all you want. Just don't fire it off on the ride back up!! Good seeing you at GMR this past weekend!!
Danny...Thanks for the input! Your comments are welcome here anytime! Bearing races surely make the best axle spacers if you have the room for them. You can use "Mini-mizer" races for something a bit shorter than the standard bearing race. "Biltin" races are long enough to grind/machine down to make perfect wheel bearing spacers.
Who is coming to the Kludyville/Badlands Outlaw?

Don't know if this even helps, but.... On my Randals, I use a bearing race to space my wheels in between the wheel and the hanger. I just take some bearings apart and use the part that actually rests on your axle (get rid of the rest of the bearing)and it usually works better than a bunch of s#@!ty little washers and will space your wheels out quite a bit if you want that sort of thing. Works best with rubber shield bearings rather that steel shields. I have used comp 2 and streetluge hangers and I like them both. Sorry to be a know-it-all on your forum Dave!! DC

you guys are DOOMED, I've been developing a new secret weapon down at the local carniceria. Its a new type of bean we call the Perez speciale torro loco. (The Perez Crazy Bull special for all my gringo brethern) guarantteed to wreck havoc the moment it hits your stomach. A loud gurgling followed by a high pitched squeal that results in a mighty thunder (not to mention it acts as a nittro burst) equates to one demonic extravaganza. You've been THUNDERSTRUCK! yeah, yeah, yeah! anybody bold enough to setup in my draft better think twice because its all a roll of the dice!
did i mention it has a hint of tapatio and lime?

Luge Hangers

K-Rimes...Jaime M. has it right...I typically use the washers that come with the luge hanger. The hanger used to come with six .060" thick stainless washers. I set mine up like this: bearing,.400" spacer, bearing, 2 washers, wheel, washer, nut. There should be plenty of room between the end of the hanger and the wheel when using this method. Since the Krypto has a narrow (roller-skate) hub, you will have lots of extra axle at each end. You might need a few more washers on the outside of each wheel to take up the play. You might be able to use another bearing spacer (.300" or .400") instead of a stack of washers on the outside.

Luge hangers

Hey Kevin, do you have the comps with one bearing a side,(170mm) or the luge hangers two bearings per side(205mm or so)? I Have a set of the luge hangers, you set them up like a hub on each end, 2 bearings and a .400 spacer. The outside bearing should be close to flush with the end of the hanger. If not you should have enough axle to space the wheel out so it it clears the hanger. On mine, using a Flywheel and three washers per side I still have extra axle hanging out the ends! I haven't used the comp hangers, I do know they are similar, just one bearing per side though. Hope that helps! Say hi to Malcolm for me.

Dave,
I was wondering how you set up your luge hangers, if you use them at all. I just got a set and when setting them up discovered that even with speed washers between every bearing it leaves a gap which rubs on the edge of a Krypto 85. I remidied the situation by adding another bearing which runs half inside the tube and half out.
How should I be fixing this? Or have I done it right?

Bring it Kludyman! I don't think we will have our timer out. I'm sure we will figure out a way to have some fun without a clock and a rulebook....it's an OUTLAW!!. I'm feeling "fast" after all the good food I consumed during the holidays. My leathers should fit like a speedsuit and the extra weight won't hurt either.
John has been tearing up GMR a couple times per week...he's more than ready.
Now if we could only get some Santa Ana winds!!

...the pivot axis stays in the same place on the truck no matter what type of board is mounted to them. Dropping a board only changes the distance between your feet and the pivot axis. Less distance means less leverage.

jawes..The further your feet are above the trucks, the more leverage you have to turn them. It's the same reason a long handle wrench will turn a bolt easier than a short one. Easier turning could also be called "less stable" if you desire. Truck geometry, bushings and rider style are also big factors in "stability". I like to think in terms of the "pivot axis" as opposed to "pivot point". Think of the line that runs from the center of the pivot bushing to the center of the kingpin between the two truck bushings/cushions.

Hi David!
I have a couple of questions, been arguing with some friends, hope you have time to answer them!
I don´t know if I´m right, but I claim, that if you have two exactly like boards with the same trucks, but one of the boards have drop through mounted trucks, it will make the board with the dropped trucks more stable and less willing to stear. Am I correct? And if so, why?
Second, could you explain the term pivot point. And does the pivot point change if you have to alike boards and one of them have the trucks drop through mounted?
Would be very greatful for an answer!

It would be cool to see some skateboarding in the Olympics. I’d rather watch any event on a skateboard as opposed to synchronized swimming. I would not hold my breath....people have been talking about it for years. It certainly would not change what skateboarding means to me. One thing is for sure...the IOC would bring more rules and politics to the sport. Also look for an increase in....power struggles, jealousy, lies, deceit, scandals, cheating, protests, and general whining and bitchin’. Money and connections will play a big part in the game...politically correct ass kissing might be a required skill.

Dave, the spacers are made by a company called Buttite. I saw them in my local hardware catalogue. I'm not sure if they are ideal, but I figured I would try them out before having someone turn some. I'll do a bit of measuring before I bore out the hanger, let you know how it goes. Will take some pics this weekend. Great forum BTW!

I'll flip the Hangers and try a firmer bushing on the Top and Tighten up that back truck! Now maybe I can hold 50mph without busting! If that doesn't work Im going to the 205 hanger! Thanks Again! I'll be a bombing again soon! I'll post here and Let ya know what worked best! Team FLA Out!
