hey dave i'm not in australia - i wish i was there. i think there's something wrong with ncdsa. i'm in switzerland.... i was talking to manu antuna after going soo fast in brazil and he told me they had about that speed in australia. too bad he can't ride anymore.
hmm angles.... i made some rubber wedges last year and i was riding the whole 2005 season with this setup. the wedges are 4°. magun baseplates are 50°. that makes about 54°. magun hangers are alot more passiv than randal rII. it's like an extrem version of a flipped rII hanger.
i only use it for my front truck. makes a little bit quicker!

What is the maximum (total)steering angle you run on your Maguns? Do you change it depending on the type of course?
Are you in Australia? Kludy and I were recently talking about the crazy hill we raced at the 1999 Australian X-Games. I know you like it steep and fast!! Find that hill...you won't be sorry!!

Hey Everyone,
I have been hearing mixed info regarding the use of angled risers and Randall R-II's. Most of what I've read indicates not to use angled risers or any riser at all with R-II's. Anyone confident in solving this dillema?

hey john, i liked your story about riding with cyclists...most cyclists seem to be pretty blown away that skaters with "small wheels" can keep up and smoke them. i had a similar exsperience last nite bombin some mellow hills around olympia, WA raced a biker down a hill into downtown, he was diggin it, fun times. bikes make good draft bait, punchin big holes in the air...i always enjoy beating a biker with a $5,000 bike and full spandex with my $250 piece o' wood and 100 year old roller skate technology.
see you guys at maryhill '06, or are you thinking of coming to danger bay 5? not the hardest course, but a very fun time.

Hiked straight thru for 1.5 hrs. Started at 8:30am and it was chilly. Road was dry and the sun was bright. I could see the L.A. skyline clearly when I reached the end of my hike. Reached about 5miles up and then waited for some guys on bikes to come by. Two guys came by at speed and I was already rolling. I overtook them after about .75 miles. They then began to pedal up on me and I lead the way all the way to the gate. I was pretty streamlined except for a pouch on the back of my waist. It was a fairly even match and the back rider had a speedometer that said 38 mph. I know that a top rider could beat me at GMR, but it is fun to challenge myself against the bikes when I am running solo. The fact that they can pedal is what makes it even more fun. It is definitely hard on the legs. The hike and then the descent is taxing on these old legs, but I 'll be there again tomorrow.

It is still closed and access from the back was open last week. I'll probably start to hike it from the front at about 8-8:30am Sat and Sun around 9-9:30 am. Going around the back requires a 45 min drive each way and a driver, or it means leaving a car at the top and then driving around with another car later. I have not been to the top in a bit and I don't know the condition of the road up there. I do know that they have begun to do more road repair and that means the possibility of dirt and debris. One good thing about walking the road is that you get to take note of what to look out for on the way down and you get more familiar with the road. The hike is not for eveyone, but it is good exercise for lazy gravity sports athletes.

I hope to make it to the Pump Station on Saturday, but I don't really have a slalom board right now, so I'll either put some grippins on my skateboard. I've got a Roe Slalom coming for like the past 6 weeks now. Finally called the guy and said he see to it that my board was shipped. Sunday I'd really be up to riding. I can't stop thinking about going faster after riding Dump for the first time. But GMR is great too.
If you've got that board that my friend e-mailed you about. I'll bring his cash on Saturday, and if I'm not there then definitely Sunday.

i just got off the phone with my friends in Moreno Valley and it hasn't rained there all day and doesn't look like it will. I've been checking noaa and weather.com all the sites show about a 15-20% chance of rain which is down from todays 30-40%. So i'm banking on dry weather, but i'll pack a rain set up just in case. rain or shine, let's get it on!

Kludy I think it'll still be good. The weather forcast said it was gonna be 80% chance of rain today and it has steadily gone down, and today there is no way its gonna rain. I'll be there tomorrow at 10 or earlier if the weather permits.
