well that was a fun weekend! back at skate school now decompressing and running on 3 hours of sleep in the past 2 days. miller me and james got into austin last thursday nite after 12 strait hours of driving. me and james decided to get some energy out after being in the car all day by going skating. after 15 minutes we were thoroughly lost and spend the next hour skating around austin along with running across major freeways to find the hotel again. friday we spent skating the GS hill for like 4 hours, bombing it from the top, miller set a GS course to practice on while me and james slid it up. we head back to the motel only to find out that there is a skate park less than 2 minutes away with a killer bowl. we sessoned the bowl for awhile, it was sic! 11 ft deep end, pool coping, and you could tell by the way the little groms were looking at us that none of them knew what to do with that huge bowl. saturday was sooo much fun! the super G course was fast and hairy, probably doing around 40mph towards the bottom. with a pretty good headwind, tucking as much of the course as possible was quite important.
the downhill was fun, that hill is so short and steep, bombing it felt like a roller coaster ride! it sucked that the headwind slowed us down and that we could'nt bomb the hill from higher up. never the less, it was cool to have such a super accurate speedtrap set-up, way better than a GPS.
on sunday with the hybrid and the tight i knew i was out of my element with no practice, but james west was killing it and everybody was commenting on his sic style. james got taken out by claude reinger, the guy who won the thing and who was smoking everybody, but james gave him a a good fight. I even heard claude say to james "sorry, but I can't go easy on you, you're just to damn good!"
we bounced right after the awards ceremony and hit the road. after a safety meeting we began driving all nite and got back in NM at 8 this morning. i need sleeep.
ricker, your ankle better heal up so we can practice some slalom and miller thanks for using your Van, quite comfy!

Hey DP, not sure if we can make the ditch slap so close to DB6, sounds killer. Skip will be reppin' P-town and the rest of us we'll have to asses the funds. Thanks for the info Joe, we'll try n put Colorado on the radar for that one. See ya when we see ya, Go RATZ, get 'em!

Joe you may want to rethink the June 15th date. The Vernon DH and slalom (new for this year) has already been announced for that date. Is your date set in stone? I was hoping you would be doing another CO race but having a race only 6 hours away makes for an easier drive.

You really think that "For now it's clear that the DH Racers have the widest skate skills"? Or is it that all around skaters like to race downhill?

There will be no Sandia All Around this year. TSR is focusing on running some new events like the Ditch Slap. We are also working on an event for Look Out Mtn. in Golden, Colorado for June 15th.
All Around competitions are still in their infancy, and we have been unable to attract any real sponsors to help it grow. For now it's clear that the DH Racers have the widest skate skills, and that TimeShip riders are some of the best All Arounders out there. Maybe we'll lay in wait for some other organizer to put on an All Around so we can come and show our stuff.
If that doesn't happen in the next couple of years then I guess we'll have to throw Sandia again. I know that your crew are well rounded skaters and would do well, but for now we'll just have to race you where ever we can.

are the soggy, moss covered east-side rollers gonna roll out to new mex to get some sun, dry out, and try to keep up with old joe in the ditches?

It's on for a super fast giant slalom race here in Texas! Maybe it's too big. Maybe it's too fast. Who knows? Who cares? Your GS board probably won't work on this hill. Bring a DH board or something like that. Expect to go 45mph+. The hill is about as tall as a 20 story building. It has two slight left hand turns. It drops 7" every 4 feet. It is about 3/10 of a mile long. Great surface. Plenty of run out. I'm scared but skateboarding should be scary! If your into high speed gnarly s#@! then this is the race for you Sunday will be normal slalom. There are also 4 killer concrete skateboard parks in the area so come out early and stay late for some of the local fare. Albuquerque was a blast! Y'all come on out to Texas and ride with us!

Thanks for the laugh Matt, everyday is a gift for me. I love it! The Sizzler isn't that far away, there's a chance I'll live that long. We gonna do some downhillin out there too? You gonna run the cones and enter the races this time Matt, or are you gonna show up on a bouncy pintail and roll around all afternoon. I know you got a couple skaterbuilts. I'd like to see if there a match for my AXE! I doubt it. Cant wait though!
Oh, and I did make it to the finals...and crashed. Been there done that, next time I'll take the finals!

actually matt, now that i've dried out, i'm faster. all that moss and fungus I accumulated while living the hippy life in the coastal rainforests of washington state was'nt very aerodynamic. Joe trimmed the hippy fro, and ricker, well he's always been fast, he'll probably make it to the finals then crash.

Joe leads the pack with his slow-mo fro! DP is all dried up from not getting enough rain- mossback that he is. Brunsons fire is out. And James "stiffed me for a set of new leathers" West is a deadbeat wieny hung up on tail, beer and the novelty of driving a car. He's about to enter his "I used to skate" years. RIcker? He can skate, but he might not live long enough to get here. Every day is a gift for that man.
TSR' Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!! Lets see it, We're right next door and Miller knows the way. MF OUTLAWS!

Sorry Miller, no tone intended, I'd like it if George or Palmer will post their event soon so that everyone will know the whole picture. ACTUALLY, I think that your Indian School Invite entry fee will cover you for the Invite race, qualifier and park race. I'll comp you the Chinese Ditch Race 'cause I want to see you sweat! Remember that you are one of only 20 skaters that will face this double entry fee dilema.
Ditch Slap entry fee overlaps starting at the qualifier, I suggest that after Indian School you just pay $25 for which ever other race you are interested in....too many races, too many ditches, too much fun for us to have all by ourselves.

So would I have to pay to be in the skatepark race? My physical therapy should be done by the beginning of April and the race would give me something to shoot for. I think that is the only race I am interested but it look super fun. Who is going to set the course for that one? Get Abe to set it haha. Then almost no one would be able to even make it.

What's with all the hostility Joe? I never indicated whether I have a "beef" or not, just looking for a little clarification. SO, I have to pay you to enter a race that is not yours. Understood. By the way, it has little to do with what race I NEED to be in to qualify for anything else. I NEED to race. period. The only way I can still feel validated is to beat 9 year olds in park slaloms, old guys like you in other races and Ricker in TS.

You are correct, the qualifier is not my race, and yes it does count as one of the 3 races if you choose to (need to) race it. The skate park race also counts as one if you really need a vert fix, leaving you one more, probably a $$$ race to choose. Of course, you are already invited to Indian School based on your finish last year, and if you repeat your performance you won't NEED to be in the qualifier, and you don't really want to skate all that vert either, so what's your beef? The other races to choose from are all $$$ races so that should help you decide which ones to be in.
As for the style jams, you will certainly win with all of your killer tricks and stylish moves! Style jams are not races, you know that, they are popularity contests. Don't forget that the $75 entry fee also includes the Ditch Slap Shuttles which will easily burn that much ga$ hauling your ass around.
Matthew, baiting a TSR racer is very risky business since they'll show up and SMOKE you!

Joe, The ditch slap entry only gets you into 3 races? On another forum you said that the I.S. qualifier is NOT your race. Does it count as one of the three? What about the Rio Bravo Style Jam. It has no prize money, right? Does it count as a "race"?
